My friend did all the player character control stuff and audio. Everything else is me, including that awful art and also the cool Tiled Map Editor level importer for making level-building easier, but that's all in the background so no one gets to see how awesome it is. ): Just kidding it's not very impressive. All the assets are placeholder. Shit's still buggy. Known bugs: all of it sucks. Also jumping as running off an edge is hard for some reason but also you can jump if you fall all the way off in mid air for some reason. Also you can't beat the level. Does it count as a bug if I haven't worked on it yet? Going for a Crystal Caves vibe because I like Crystal Caves and I wanna make like an old DOS platformer collectathon thing. Those spikes sure move awesome though don't they?!

Is there a website that catalogues commonly-used words and phrases that are racist/sexist/whatever-ist and people just don't realize? Like fire the longest time I used the word "jipped" thinking that's how it was spelled until I got curious and looked up the etymology. It's "gypped", of course, which was deliberately racist at the time it was coined, but nobody really thinks about it like that anymore. I've since tried to stop using that word. Another one might be the popular drink, Irish car bomb. Plenty of other mixed drinks too I'm sure. If there isn't such a website, I kind of want to make one, but it would surprise me if I had to.

I regularly refer to myself as a manchild! Because I live mocking myself. But it is one of those overused words. "Dead to language," etc.

The 3DS cannot play GBA games. The 3DS can go into DS hardware mode to play GBA games. It is not proper support. EDIT: Oooh, wonder if new 3DS might be able to properly emulate GBA now that it has the better hardware...

Yeah I watched the Black Lagoon OVA (Roberta's Blood, maybe?) at some point recently and I wasn't as into it as I was the original series. I wasn't sure if it was because the OVA just wasn't as good (still possible!) or because Black Lagoon just isn't that great. EDIT: I may be misremembering my opinion of Roberta's Blood. I might have even liked it at the time. Or claimed to? Well, regardless, my wishy-washy memory and/or opinion sort of speak loud enough in regard to what I think of Black Lagoon. Codicier: Ah, that's a shame. I, too, really enjoyed the original. Apparently a lot of my friends strongly disagree with me re: E7, but fuck 'em! Well, I'll keep watching regardless. Hopefully I don't feel inclined to give up and can at least enjoy the art. Did I mention I like the art? It's so clean and colorful and bright and I like the art a lot.

That's how I felt when I dropped it halfway through it's first season. I actually intend to go back because when I like it I really like it. But when I don't like it, it's just... totally boring. Also I finished Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. It was worth watching. Definitely a huge parody on a lot of things, but it made sense, thematically. Was strange to start it and assume it was pure Excel Saga style of anime, but eventually reach the point where it felt like something legitimate. Lots of giant bouncing boobs, though. Anime. Started Eureka Seven: Ao. Much like its predecessor it's very nice looking. I love the art, guys. Love it. Also much like it's predecessor it starts out almost just pure fun and adrenaline. I hope it continues to be that, because that's all I really want.

Let me start with the sound "ugh." NOBODY is losing their minds over the gross sexist shit in video games. They're acknowledging that it exists and acknowledging that it is problematic. What people are losing their minds over are the FUCKING DEATH THREATS ATTACHED TO HOME ADDRESS AND RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. What people are losing their minds over are the ENDLESS HARASSMENT OF PEOPLE WHO ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DESERVE IT. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I call myself a gamer because video games are a huge part of my identity. I play them, I make them, and I study them. Without games I would not be who I am. I am not a gamer FIRST, but I am definitely a gamer. I'm not going to let a bunch of shitbirds on the internet ruin things for me. Why is it that we work hard to reclaim words like "slut" with things like the slut walk, etc., but then we let words like "gamer" go because we don't like a lot of people who identify with that word? I know that's not a fair comparison - slut vs gamer - because there's a lot of connotation and context that differentiates what they are and who those people are and how they've been treated their whole life and privilege and and and!!, and I do apologize for that, but I couldn't think of a better one.

I wouldn't go that far! It certainly can be a lack of empathy, but it doesn't have to be. It could just as easily be fear of conflict or social anxiety or any other number of factors. I know this because I speak from experience.
