Farscape? Farscape is pretty much my favorite sci-fi television series of all time. YES.

I'll play this with people. I have played it before. I've never managed to beat the first boss. I like to play on the hardest difficulty though which is why I've never beaten the first boss. But I would play on lower difficulties maybe.

I did think that! Or maybe hoped? I don't know. Now that I'm a bit calmer and have had a good night's sleep, I realize that he never actually asserted that sexism doesn't exist in video games. But he is saying it's not as bad as people think. If a woman just works hard, they'll be able to make any game they want! Anita's definitely biased and cherry-picking! Erghhh basically a lot of the arguments the quote-unquote saner segment of the gaters are making. Bleh.

I just saw that someone posted this Sommers video on Facebook and so I finally watched it and I became angry listening to her horseshit and even angrier when I read the comment that person had made. I expressed my anger at the end of a hundred-long comment-versation on Facebook. This was probably not a good idea. Of course this is a guy who once compared himself being extremely obese to one of our friends being gay as one of those "tests" God puts you through, and if our gay friend didn't stop being gay he'd go to hell. He's so nice normally but then he has these beliefs that make me want to punch him in the face repeatedly.

Pff who would want to use pistols when you have that sweet rad bow and arrow???

Yeah that's most of what I see, too. It's possible it used to be worse! I only very recently (as in the past few months) disabled Adblock for RPS.

I tried out the demo last night and it felt weird playing it. Might be that the 3DS isn't suited too well to the game, but could have just as easily been because I haven't played Smash in years and the controller is not what I'm used to. I did get marginally better I think after playing a few rounds. But man is Smash boring when your only option is playing against two CPUs out of a pool of six characters!

I've seen some questionable ads on RPS, but never anything as bad as you guys are talking about. Weird.

I can say that I definitely don't always end up happier. But happiness is not the measurement I would use. Do you represent every individual in the world? Is that why everyone should do it?

Haha. It was definitely creepy, though sort of a rehash of former creepiness. I liked it though. I think I liked everything about the first episode except for the actual plot. Or maybe I'm just tired of that trio of characters, I don't know. Potato head is always funny but every time we see them it's the same thing.

Haha oh wow. I thought Miiverse originally had a "every post has to be approved" mandate? Was that later revoked, or was that people just overreacting to something a PR unit at one point said somewhat inaccurately?

I wish I could fast-forward a year because I'm really interested in seeing how this actually turns out. I'm still excited at the prospect of change while being pessimistic that Microsoft is the right entity to enact that change. Hnnngh.

Hah well I wasn't responding to you specifically, just the general sentiment. There's been a lot of words calling it a waste, and I just disagree very strongly with that idea!

I guess I should spoiler-tag this for people who haven't seen Ping Pong... I've never seen or heard of Chihayafuru!

I think what I'm trying to say, more than anything else, is that the "sports anime" subgenre I'm always talking about is... a very specific thing, and Ping Pong is very different from that very specific thing. When I call it my anime junk food, I mean that it's basically all the same stuff - bunch of people get super excited about playing the sport and bond as teammates and etc. From there, the anime makes a name for itself by having good characters or presenting that theme of comradery and growth in a particularly good way. Yowapeda is another recent good example (even though it ended its season at an incredibly awkward point right in the middle of a race). It's not that I think Ping Pong is bad in any way (even if I think the story is largely forgettable); it's more that it's just incomparable to the rest of the junk. Ping Pong is about how even when you've got talent, you still need to work hard. Like, if I had to pick one theme from the anime, that'd be it. Which is why I said it could basically be about anything. (Barakamon, from this season, is another example of this theme, actually! It's not a sport, though, it's calligraphy!) Also suddenly I want a golf anime, and golf is pretty much one of my least favorite sports. I think I want it because sports anime are typically incredibly kinetic. Golf... wouldn't be. I'd like to see if I would even enjoy it. EDIT: Turns out there are THREE golf manga. Only one has been anime-ized. And one of them has 62 volumes and is still going.
