I certainly wouldn't disagree with that. Although soaps you go into with the knowledge that it's Never Going To End. I might just choose to describe it as a drama, instead. Connotation, I guess. Could also say, for example, that drama (or soap opera, if you want to use that) is the genre of BSG, but the setting is science-fiction. I've employed that tactic a lot in the past, though less so these days because I mostly hate talking about genres. GENRES! And then in TP's case, the setting would be the weirdness of it all. As well as the eponymous town, of course. If that makes sense...

Is Weirdness not its own genre? I don't see any reason why it couldn't or shouldn't be, even if it is largely used as a method to emphasize or enhance characteristics of other genres (most often horror, I guess, although in Twin Peaks' case it's all about the murder mystery). Also, what's wrong with weirdness for its own sake? Why do we accept scariness for its own sake, but then decry weirdness? It can be just as unsettling (possibly moreso!), depending on personal tastes and how those things affect you, but I never see people complaining about horror in that way. Well, okay, that's not true, I'm sure I have seen such a thing, but it's undeniably more common to put down Weird Shit than it is Scary Shit.

Yeah I was looking up where the license for The Seven Deadly Sins had gone last night and really confused nobody had grabbed it. Netflix, huh? That sucks. Rather Hulu, since they at least do simulcasting. Though Funi stuff usually goes there, right? Ah well. Also I did end up watching the first episode of Log Horizon 2 last night. YES. YES. IT'S BACK. HURRAY.

I figured that might be the case. New words happen all the time, in various contexts, though. Some people are bothered by this (as I've experienced firsthand in many pointless debates with close friends), but it all seems rather silly to me, which is why I said "whatever who cares"!

O: Also, I really like this short-form cartoon that still manages to have a really engaging story without feeling like episodes should be longer. And also is just enjoyable on a moment-to-moment basis. This and Adventure Time. So good. Which reminds me, I need to catch up with that. And Gravity Falls... Unrelated: Is Regular Show worth watching? I've seen a few episodes with friends after a night of drinking but don't remember it being exceptional. May have been the environment/mood or may have been that I only watched a few earlier episodes.

First episode was shit, but I'm still interested in seeing how the humans vs humanoid cockroaches battle goes also are these people half cockroach. I am really confused. .....nevermind the second episode is jsut starting out so awful and unbearably tropey i can't deal with this i think... i think i'm out... That's definitely true, and I think that just further emphasizes how much less likely this one is to make it because it didn't get that huge initial burst.
