  1. Sunset Overdrive

I'm not denying the possibility, but I'm definitely saying if you want to play the game badly enough, I wouldn't bother waiting. Or, get over it, because it's unlikely. I want it as badly as the next person who wants it badly, but I've resigned myself to just never getting to play it. Same as D4 and (possibly, not sure if I care, yet) Scalebound. (D4's probably the most likely to come to PC, although I don't know if Deadly Premonition did well enough for them to care. They certainly didn't put a lot of effort into that port...) I'M GETTING OFF TOPIC. Everyone go back to gushing about this game I can't play, I'll just be in the corner, crying or something. ):

At any rate, I'm glad I'm not the only one around here who loves Arakawa Under the Bridge. It's so good.

Have you seen Cromartie High School, Blambo? If not, I think I'd probably recommend it to you...
  4. anime

I wish you guys would stop talking about anime I haven't seen and making it sound interesting. How am I supposed to catch up with my list if you keep doing that? I caught up to Log Horizon today and I'm mad because I want more now but I won't get more until next Saturday and fuck. Interesting things happening. Moving slowly, but that's just the pace it moves at. All about the payoff with Log Horizon! Episode five had some good payoff, and now we're back to the slow pace. Just like I like it. Mmm.

I think it can and will be twisted. I agree with Denial. Why are people so afraid to call it out by its name? Fucking weird and cowardly. Really, I think the statement is fine overall if you're us and know who they're talking about, but to people who don't really know... A simple identification of the scourge would be more than enough to make it totally acceptable, I think.
  6. Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac has never released a PC game, so I wouldn't count on it.
  7. Okay sounds good. The only people who've not said anything now are SuperBiasedMan, Jutranjo, and Gwardinen, who are all Euro time and I suspect can't commit to something which I believe is smack-dab in the middle of the night for them. ): Which means Reyturner's game has two people committed, and Merus' has four. Korax did say he'd be willing to fill in an empty spot in Reyturner's if there was one, but I'm waiting for confirmation (?!) before doing that for him. I also said the same thing, but I'm not actually sure that I want to commit to doing a thing every week.
  8. Yeah I've been meaning to update, but then there was some question about whether or not we had enough people for Reyturner's game, as well, plus some people said they'd be down for either and I didn't want to put their names in both if they could only commit to one, etc. I'll update now with pertinent information. A google doc might be best but I've no idea how to set that stuff up beyond just opening it up to everyone who needs to edit. D: Merus: I just realized I misread your post and thought you were saying we'd start at 6:30. Well, my supplied time preference still applies! I did notice that originally you said 8, which would be perfect for me. Whatever works best for you, though, I'll try to work in. Can I get an exact date we're starting, as per cyrix's suggestion/request? Reyturner: Do you think you'll have enough people, or would you just rather play Merus' game? I see a few "I'm up for either"s and "I'm up for both"s, but I don't want to speak for you. I'm leaving your game in the OP, for now, though.
  9. I haven't played Numenera, but I know D&D is definitely easy to get into. Probably easier?, as from what I gather Numenera is more fluid with the rules? I could be wrong. I just realized I never stated what time exactly I would be available. It would be better for me if we started an hour after that (7:30 CST) as I usually leave work at about 6 or 6:30 and it takes me about half an hour to get home - longer if the bus is late, which is often. If worse comes to worst I can start going into work before 9:30am... Or skip lunch?!

Haha, I confess to liking "Let's Kill Hitler" precisely because it was so stupid. I'd be glad to see Moffat go away, though. He's responsible for some of my favorite episodes, but, man, let someone else take over, geez.

oh god there's a whole bunch of these http://www.buzzfeed.com/katienotopoulos/here-are-the-gamergater-song-parodies-that-will-change-your ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahaha You know I have to admit a few of these are actually pretty well done, stupidity aside. Most are really bad, though. Dude on that Johnny Cash parody has a sick voice. Mary Poppins lady was also good. EDIT: I listened past the first few lines of the Johnny Cash song and I'm retracting that statement. Mary Poppins is still good, though. Well, "good". Oh god that Bohemian Rhapsody is baaaaad.

This game looks so fucking fun. I wish it wasn't exclusive to the only console I won't buy. ):

In general, I've loved Doctor Who unequivocally where a lot of people who also purport to love Doctor Who express a great amount of negativity. Maybe I'm "outgrowing" it, or at least growing tired of it? That's entirely possible. Matt Smith is my favorite modern Doctor. Eccleston may have been if he'd lasted more than a season, but he sort of came and went very quickly. (It didn't help that I binged that season, as I started watching halfway through the Tennant stuff.) I agree with you that it's not like it's done anything different this season, or during the Matt Smith run, or whatever. I can't really pinpoint a general shift in tone that I dislike, but I can give at least one specific example. That episode with the stupid kids in the stupid magical forested London was stupid and stupid. That I hate most kid actors probably has something to do it, and she was particularly annoying with her awkward hand-waving stupid stupid it looked like she was trying to do some weird kid dance rather than actually swat away tiny glowing bugs. Um. I guess I just hated that episode a lot. (I also hated the episode with that girl from Clara's school. She kept whining I WANT TO GO HOME which I mean sure is a reasonable response to having your life threatened but STILL YOU'RE ON THE MOON, GIRL, HAVE SOME FUN. (Also how did a giant moon creature hatch from an egg the size of the moon and then lay an egg the size of the moon. (Also how did it increase in mass. It wasn't eating anything. You can't convert non-mass to mass. (Okay I know I'm just being silly here, this is all typical Doctor Who nonsense, but it's fun to be nitpicky. (And to nest an egregious amount of parentheticals.))))) I mean like I keep saying, I love Capaldi. He's great! I just let a few shitty things affect my overall judgment. Which I normally try not to do, but failed this time. My opinion has amended itself. On another note,

I haven't dug into this reddit in a while but I'm eatin' my cereal and listenin' to some music and figured I'd dive in for a bit. "You can tell the gamer master race by the fact that GG and NYS don't buckle the second someone challenges them in any capacity." "Gamers buckle? we're GAMERS. They come onto OUR turf and pick a fight with GAMERS on the Internet? Jesus. That's like trying to fight Aquaman in the water." "We have burned on the flaming steps of the forums, we have heard our comrades last breath on ventrilo and our mothers lustful moans on xbox live. My tears were soaking my controller, playing the flyer level in Battletoads when our enemies were not even seeds in their father's sacks. My skin is iron." lollllllllllllllll (fairly certain that lost one is self-mockery? but who even knows with this crowd)

I felt UNIT played a pretty small part in this episode (besides the initial setup I guess) and I liked the bit at the end. I've actually seen all the old Doctor Who episodes, so that really did it for me. Agreed that they usually just get in the way these days, though. After my post I realized I'd just been doing the human tendency I hate most - focusing on the bad and letting it ruin the good. You're right that it's had its ups and downs. I'd say it's probably about half and half for me, in terms of good vs. bad. Agreed that the ending two-parter was great. I do really like Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. ending thing Loved the after-credits teaser, though. The Doctor's expression. Heee.
  17. Nintendo 3DS

I was going to mention that, actually. I can't remember why I decided not to. One of my favorite "recent" gaming experiences was starting up the Minecraft alpha and just playing and trying to figure things out on my own. It was so great.

Let's get into some serious shit here. I love Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, but this season has been pretty shit overall. I don't know. I'm watching the latest episode now. Please be better.
  19. I loved L4D2 and would have played it as much if not more than L4D1 if my L4D group hadn't fatigued on it because they never quit and played it all the way up until L4D2 came out. (EDIT: Basically what Badfinger said.) I'd still go back and play either of them any time, though. Love those games. D:
  20. Nintendo 3DS

I strongly disagree with the idea that games need to be more complex than they currently are to support open-ended gameplay. In fact, I believe open-ended gameplay is often very well supported by fewer and simpler mechanics. Like, I don't know, just pulling an example out of thin air, The Legend of Zelda for Nintendo Entertainment System. You could certainly argue that if that game was released today, it would be terrible, but that doesn't preclude a more modern game like it existing and doing well. I hate this argument because it just feels like "well I don't like it so obviously it can't be done".
  21. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I'd assume seeded levels won't have the same items for everyone if, for example, one person gets an item the other person has not unlocked. I think I remember reading something about that, actually.

I mean I agree with your premise that bombing every wall to find the hidden doors is dumb. I don't like it, either. But I think once again you're missing the point. It's the sheer lack of any hand-holding that can makes the first game their favorite game, and, yes, Zelda has only gone downhill from there in that regard. It's not the invisible hidden doors specifically that appeals to people. It's that you're dumped into the game without any direction and it's up to you to figure out what to do. There's a lot of appeal there.
