Yeah saw it yesterday and was surprised. I'm in.

I had the most wonderful dream that the project I'm on at work was done, and I got to choose what we worked on next and it was glorious! And then I woke up. Oh I also had a dream that I was learning how to do magic in a flying fortress. I assume it was influenced by my recent completion of Dragon Age: Origins (even though I didn't play a mage, and there are no flying fortresses). I don't remember any details I just know there were a lot of people and we spent a lot of time doing pointless shit while trying to save the world.

The team is full of nobodies. They're completely unknown. Also, unlike Riot, there is no "official league". Valve runs The International, but there are probably hundreds of smaller tournaments (some bigger than others, but relative to The International, much smaller) that are completely community run. This team would never, ever make it to Valve's tournament. So there's no real danger of it happening. But even if it was... Originally YouPorn was soliciting a much bigger team, one that still doesn't have a sponsor (the aforementioned Team Secret), or at least didn't at the time. I dunno if they do now. Anyway, obviously that didn't pan out, and I'm fairly certain it's because Team Secret knew it was a bad idea. It could've also been maybe YP wasn't willing to fully financially commit, and I doubt we'll ever know the details of those conversations, but. Whatever the case. YouPorn won't be at The International. EDIT: None of this is meant as a defense of it happening, in case it came off that way. As I said in my initial post, I agree with Philippa Warr / RPS on this topic. It's bad in a number of ways. But I just wanted to clarify some things.

The link has no naughty images (it does have naughty words, though, and does link to YouPorn's twitter). Sorry I forgot some workplaces are much more strict than mine. At any rate, yes, you're correct that they are just a distributor, like YouTube. Her specific problem (as presented, anyway) is less with the content of the videos and more with the presentation (e.g., "horny sluts" being the title of a video, etc.). As you say, they're user-submitted. But that isn't really relevant to her point, as it's still an image that would be present at all tournaments at which the YP sponsored team competes. Compounded with the shitty eSports sexism/other-bigotry, it's just reinforcing problematic issues on BOTH sides of the fence. In other words, she's not holding YouPorn specifically responsible, but just presenting the idea that a YouPorn sponsored team is problematic because of the way content is presented. EDIT: I'm done editing my post now I swear.

Oh yeah definitely. This is especially evidenced by the fact that no high-profile team was willing to have them as a sponsor, and they ended up going with a no-name team that'll never make it anywhere, anyway. They already got everything they needed out of it, just by making lots of inquiries. EDIT: I almost looked up Crash Pad and Anna Span before remembering I'm at work. PHEW.

I don't have anything to say about Dan Savage because I don't know who he is, but here's a different thing: I can't remember if it's been brought up anywhere on these forums, but YouPorn is sponsoring a [no-name] Dota 2 team, and Philippa Warr of RockPaperShotgun (their resident Dota 2 expert) has written what I think is a good article about it: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/12/10/dota-2-youporn-team/ I'm not bringing it up to talk about Dota again (because we all know I do that too often) (although if you want to, go ahead), but rather because I'm now wondering what porn sites WOULD be an acceptable sponsor. Ones that aren't sexist (or are at least progressively less sexist?) and ones that aren't racist, etc. Or even if any exist? (Well now it just sounds like I'm fishing for porn recommendations which... I'm not! I swear!)

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Umm apparently I spent 9.8 hours playing the game according to Steam but I don't know how long it took to beat it just the once. Second one was definitely a speedrun thing. -

I was really questioning the collective conscious regarding SteamWorld Dig when I was first getting into it. Didn't understand the love at all. Pretty much all of your complaints, too! And then at some point it just clicked with me. No, I don't know what it was, but I do know I beat the game twice in succession, which I don't often do unless I love a game. -
That's the price assumption under which I've been working! I have part one of my gift on the way (to me, after which I will deliver it to this person). The other part of the gift is still up in the air, but I'm pretty sure I know exactly what it'll be. Nobody would expect it because I'm the only person in the world who has any affection for it. Nyehe heheh ehe.

You get better, especially as you unlock more items. Also some characters are "better" than others. I got to the point where with the Bandit I could literally just play forever. Other classes were way harder for me, although I think some people find them easier. My general strategy was just "explore the level as thoroughly as seems reasonable and open all the boxes". In other words, get everything, get out. Also kill all the big enemies since they drop stuff. I never bothered rushing unless I was suddenly overwhelmed by lots of enemies. I played little co-op, though. I don't know if they balance accordingly or not. Also what little co-op I did play, we'd lord it over each other when one of us got all the items and the other just kept dying. It was good. I want to play this game again. D:

Haha yeah the holidays. I wouldn't be able to do the 26th. I'll be out of town. Probably next year it is! It's no big.

Being fired is different from being laid off. If you're fired from your job due to your own incompetence, you are less eligible for unemployment than if it's the employer's fault. At least I think that's how it works. EDIT: I didn't mean to imply it was your fault Architecture. Dunno if it came off like that, but just in case! I obviously have no idea what happened. ):

The list is auto-generated from an initial pool. Basically, you follow a bunch of people on the list, so you were added to the list.

Oh god it pains me so much that they're name-dropping one of my favorite authors (possibly my favorite!) to justify their bullshit. That philosophy from Night Watch runs completely counter to their own philosophy! Why are they doing this to me. ):

Hahaha the last thing I need is to watch MORE anime!

Double Fine's doing Day of the Tentacle Special Edition. -
They looked incredibly sparse. Like even worse than the awful worlds of OoT and TP. But it's still early so I'm reserving judgment.

Death of the author, etc! It could mean anything! Maybe Ash just thinks humans eat magazines for sustenance. WHO KNOWS. All right sorry I'm leaving now.

Yeah I didn't want to respond because it was pretty much perfect but then MISTER HOATZIN RUINED IT!

Well now you know what you must do.
