I've expressed a general discontent with the feel of the game in IRC and now here I am to repeat said discontent. Why is everything in this game so slow? Accelerating from standing to top speed feels slower than any WRPG I've played in years. Looting a corpse or interacting with most things takes literal seconds every time (not even counting the time to run over there and then come to a full stop, which you have to manually do unlike BOTH PREVIOUS DRAGON AGE GAMES), and when you're doing that with dozens of things every hour, it really starts to grate. Everything about the game is so slow and clunky and I hate it. High fidelity animations are cool! The first few times. And then they become a torturous hell. Story-wise, I can't believe how slow it is to jump into the cool stuff. In Origins and 2 you're immediately dropped into rad scenarios to hook you in. This is such a drag. I know I need to get out of the Hinterlands because that's what literally everyone says. NOT IMPRESSED SO FAR.

I call myself an atheist but I actually really just don't give a shit. It's a complete non-issue to me until the person I'm talking to starts preaching. Anytime I see "God Is Number One!" on a social network or dating profile or whatever, though, I'm out. Ain't got time for crazy people.

haha douchecanoe i like it

Now I want a game where civilians drop everything they're doing to charge at your car like madmen and do crazy stunts. Successful every time, of course.

Yes, like I said, I get it. But I'm not going to be angry at someone for being happy.

But then I wouldn't get to see a slightly perturbed Kermit the Frog!

Quick more people chime in about how the sale is disappointing because they already own most things they want!!!!
-
I don't think so, but I'm not trans, so I don't know. He just kind of owns the fact that he likes to wear lady clothes.

Basically, yeah!

I had a dream last night that Valve actually released real statistics and analysis of their holiday sale this year. It was weird because obviously that'll never happen.

This. I've watched TV with people before who can't see it, and it's the worst. I'm like TURN IT OFF PLEASE and they're like turn what off? and then I scream as my eyes leave my body and converge into a single entity, separate from my own, and start beating my friend to death.

I dunno, I can't really hold that against him. I understand that it's very much a textbook example of privilege, but fuck if I don't wish I could be like that basically every day.

Nah I haven't watched it yet. Will eventually though. I did just watch the first episode of Utopia, though. What.

Idle Thumbs 191: Not the Greatest, but the Best
Twig replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
That... is a list of games and films! -
Well it's 14 episodes total and I finished episode five last night so I'll probably just finish it unless it gets super bad.

Idle Thumbs 190: A Very Spectrum HoloByte Christmas

Yeah certainly can't hold that against you. I'm the same way usually. -
I've long wanted a game that is basically MMO dungeons without the MMO fluff of having to level up to whatever blah blah. So what you're describing sounds appealing to me. But I dunno if it's actually what I want or just what I think I want.

Idle Thumbs 190: A Very Spectrum HoloByte Christmas

Yeah "of course" is pretty much the only valid reaction, haha. I googled it to confirm and yeah there's definitely a scene for that. (A lot of the DLC is actually really good, in my opinion!) -

Haha I did the same thing except there's the Shadow Broker DLC where you can meet with Liara anyway and oops there she is so time to sleep with her again (or did I make up that last bit, it's been a while, but I'm PRETTY sure you could - and you can also choose to just end it). -
I watched Broadchurch 'cause all y'all seemed to like it and dangit if I don't like it too. It's damn good. I was sorta offput by the ending at first until I recalled some foreshadowing here and there and I think a rewatch would reveal even more, although I don't intend to rewatch. Anyway thumbs up or whatever emoticon fart noise bird noise baboo. I also picked Luther back up because I started it months ago and made it halfway through episode four... And then I checked and it's actually a really short series and I liked it well enough that I dunno why I stopped watching. So now I'm back into that. Is it good? I think it's good. Should I? Fart noise emoticon pbpbpbpbt.. I also watched the first two seasons of Black Mirror on Netflix. (I'd seen the first season already, but wanted to watch it again since it's only three eps.) Still good. Still like it. Thumbs up baboo etc. I guess I'm watching a lot of British television. You weird Brits and your television.

Having just played through DA:O and DA2, I played them very differently. In Origins, I actually ended up liking Morrigan way more than I thought I would as a character, so I went with her. But every step felt just super awkward and forced so I completely regret that I did that at all. The... end of the game didn't help much with that. Ugh. In DA2, I just flirted with everyone at every opportunity provided and it was way better, but obviously not good if you actually want real romance. I ended up with no one, and I vastly preferred it that way to how the first game ended. In Inquisition, well, who knows what I'll end up doing, but I imagine I'll take the DA2 route and not bother trying to creepily romance a specific person by pandering to their every whim even if I strongly disagree. What I'm saying is: I agree; romancing in these games is massive butt. -
I bought this just now. It's 33% off on Origin at the moment if anyone was waiting for a sale? I dunno. I beat Dragon Age 2 last night and for the duration of acts 1 and 2, I actually vastly preferred it to Dragon Age: Origins, as the characters and the plot were so much more interesting and/or better to me. The writing was vastly improved over the previous game. The interactions between all my buddies was great. I loved it. But then act 3 was, as I just put it in chat, like a slow fart until the end of the game. All this build up that just went in the most predictable direction possible, and it felt like there was way less cool shit happening with my buddies. A real shame, because even despite the obvious and egregious re-use of content, I still loved the first two thirds of the game quite a lot. But now that I've finished it...? Act 3 also felt like incredibly pandering with a lot of its sidequests like, hey, here's a bunch of characters from Origins/Awakening that you obviously loved, now talk to them for five minutes hurray okay bye. The gameplay is obviously way better in the first game,ut the characters were... I dunno. I dunno! Whatever. I still liked both games a lot and now I'm installing the third.
