  1. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I ask for new music all the time in IRC and someone (I FORGET WHO OH NO) gave me this And it's the greatest. Also I've been listening to the Mirror's Edge theme song (Still Alive) a lot lately because I like that too.
  2. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Valve's in-house economist hasn't been Valve's in-house economist for some time now. He left a while ago. Dunno the exact date, but yeah.
  3. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

It just occurred to me how utterly happy I am this GamerGate shit didn't happen while I was still at DigiPen. The thought of having to deal with what I'm sure are a not insignificant number of people who fall on the wrong side... Man. Only a couple years off. Phew.
  4. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    haaaaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
  5. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Well I have nothing to say to that except I think you're crazy, so whatever!
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

So is she usually drunk and abrasive, then? Or just that one time?
  7. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    What! She's the greatest.
  8. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/DavidGallant/20150126/234930/For_the_Sake_of_the_Industry_No_More_TotalBiscuit.php heh Not sure how productive this post is, but I completely agree with it, regardless. It won't happen, of course.
  9. The Hall of Game

Timesplitters 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. I'd kill for a beat-for-beat remake of that. Or just like an HD version. Also on PC, even though it's basically the only FPS I've ever been able to enjoy, let alone tolerate, on a console. Mostly just want PC for convenience. Sadly, it doesn't seem like Crytek (who owns it, oddly enough) has any plans to touch the franchise.
  10. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Always really fuckin' weird to hear people ask those questions in a real life situation. Also I'm not even sure if the guy really knew what it was he was parroting, there. English clearly wasn't his first language, and I sort of wonder if he just got roped into it without really understanding it, by reading a bunch of English-speaking fuckwads rant about ethics or whatever. But then again he probably did, so whatever. She had a really great response, so thumbs up.
  11. The Hall of Game

    I don't like Pac-Man. I love Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+! I've never played Ms. Pac-Man. (Warioware is good, though.)
  12. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

There's been an MP event every weekend since I started playing the game. I've yet to play MP, but I imagine it's like a double XP or something equivalent (better items, whatever).
  13. Life

I don't think it's dumb. "Interested in friends" is pretty explicitly "not interested in sex or romantic relationships" on OKCupid.
  14. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

You can buy it?! Where can you buy it?! I've checked a lot of shops and they very rarely have crafting materials!
  15. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I do all that and still don't have enough for even just four regular party members, let alone the rest of them that I regularly switch through, unless I want to build with the weakest materials, at which point why bother because the random loot I get is on par or better. Unless I'm missing like the super amazing super rare ultra special recipes. I'm pretty fucking thorough, though, so I doubt that's the case. Also, I'm out of elfroot so I can never replenish my regen potions unless I explicitly go farm or do the gather herbs mission, but then they're not doing the other missions. Also! The Gather Materials missions are so short that it's like why do I even bother leaving the wartable. Might as well wait, because by the time I get out to wherever I'm going, I'll kill a few bears or wolves or zombies and oh, the mission's done, time to go pick up my herbs... ALSO! The search ping is terrible. Everyone's just going to be mashing it all the time, so why bother making it an active thing? Just show the shit on the minimap. Nothing of value is lost, and you save the player a bunch of pointless activity. The only time it's even remotely interesting is when you're hunting down bottle of alcohol or whatever. Ugh it's just not good. So many unnecessary problems. Really bad game design. If they really want people to have to ping to search and really want people to have to gather materials like this, they should've made the loot spots far rarer, but also return a proportionally appropriate amount of materials. So you have to bend over like a quarter of the time you do now, but you get four times as many herbs or whatever. AlsoASLSLASOs last night I was running around in an area and found a "Ghoul's Beard" that I could not loot. It just wouldn't let me. I'd never seen it before, so I assume it's rare? And it wouldn't let me have it. Nice. Hopefully it'll show up in one of the areas I haven't visited, yet. Or, actually, I guess I don't really care, since I probably won't ever use it...
  16. Saw that the other day. When I was a kid I saw someone do this once, but they refused to tell me how they did it, and I could never figure it out on my own. I eventually forgot about it. Now I know how but I wouldn't even need it today! D:
  17. Is bathroom best common room to build a PC in?

I mean if you're feeling crazy paranoid a grounding strap is fine, but in my opinion it's just a waste of money unless, as Apple suggests, you're doing it on the reg. PC building all day every day. You are a PC factory incarnate.
  18. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

    They're bad, go click yourself!
  19. Why does he need a son? Because that son is a fun character. That's what Indiana Jones is about. Fun!
  20. Is bathroom best common room to build a PC in?

Yeah the case is built to absorb that shit, and that's how I've always handled building pcs on carpet. Never fried any hardware myself, across four or so complete pcs plus various upgrades.
  21. The 'Does this thread exist?' thread

Yes but as discussed the forums search is not as effective?
  22. The Walking Dead

Sometimes it feels like people expect all games to give them everything without bothering to give anything back to the game. The Walking Dead, for me, was fantastic precisely because, even though I fairly quickly realized there wasn't as much choice as there was illusion of choice, at least in the grand scheme if things, I still ran straight and fast into the mindset of letting the game do what it wanted. Sure, I could've sat there analyzing every choice, pulled back from the game, purely as an observer, but that's not the kind of game this was. And it's fine if you're not into that, but it's hard to understand why someone who isn't would bother trying. If you're willing to give a little, games like this can be incredible, but if all you want to do is take, take, take, I think you're better off elsewhere.
  23. A question about Braid

Jonathan Blow is probably my favorite indie developer. I love everything about the guy. Number one role model! The fact that I don't understand anything about Braid beyond what people have told me about it has no effect on my opinion, really.
  24. Life

I don't really want to be good at Dota. I just have fun with it. Although I did recently uninstall it as I felt I needed a break, and while I can reinstall it anytime fairly quickly, it's enough of a hurdle that it allows me to pretend I don't care much.
