Yes of course! I just wanted to vent! Anyway we've rescheduled for this Friday so whatever.

Dead Zone was referenced by filler (Garlic Jr. Saga) that didn't exist in the original manga. If you watch DBZ Kai, they remove the Garlic Jr. Saga entirely. I tried to watch some Tenchi Muyo years after the fact and never finished any of it. I dunno.

Dunno I've only watched three of those movies (the first three) and I watched them not long before I watched Battle of Gods. Dead Zone (the first one) was fun, mostly because they did a lot of fighting without Big Lasers and it was nice to go back to that. Battle of Gods has a lot of that, too. I can say that there's none of that annoying long monologue nonsense you get when watching the series proper. Every piece of dialogue is a beat in the story, whether for plot or comedy. It actually serves a purpose beyond over-long exposition or boasting. It may be my favorite Dragon Ball Z content, but also a lot of it wouldn't be as good as it is if I didn't already have an affection for the previous content. It's just really good. It's worth noting that none of the other movies are officially canon, if that's a thing that matters to you (it doesn't really, to me, but it's sorta fun to talk about), whereas Battle of Gods is completely canon. Also GT is kinda negated by Battle of Gods, not that most DB fans considered GT canon, anyway. Oh man it's like I'm back in grade school again with my binder full of Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon and Tenchi Muyo printouts. So fun! I loved this movie a lot. It hit all the right notes. Also, again, Vegeta, holy shit. (also i meant to say "must less empathetic" not "much empathetic")

I hate that a dumb post I made mostly to vent to myself is at the top of the page. MY LIFE!

Well holy shit the new Dragon Ball movie, Battle of Gods, is actually pretty good! Really funny stuff (especially if you're a fan of Dragon Ball, probably only if), especially with Vegeta. Hahah man Vegeta just, it's hilarious seeing him trying to keep someone else from getting mad. Thumbs up. Also nice that the antagonist wasn't really a bad guy so much as much a more powerful, and much less empathetic version of Goku. If you like DBZ I recommend it. U: Here I am all stoked now for the next DBZ movie coming out NEXT MONTH!!!

I got to the point in Dragon Ball Xenoverse where I'm playing newer content from the newest movie (Battle of Gods) and so I spoiled some of the movie. ): Only a bit, though, and it actually looks like it might be kinda funny if the single cutscene I watched is any indication. But now I'm conflicted. Do I keep playing dumb DBZ game or do I stop until I catch up on dumb DBZ anime! Dang dumb. ):

Okay I marathoned Chihayafuru 2 the past few days and it continued to be good. Shame about lack of new episodes but it actually ended better than a lot of things do these days, so it's not too bad. Hurray! Not sure what i'm gonna move on to next... Maybe I'll take a break from the ol' anime train. Well, besides currently-airing junk.
  11. Half-Life 3

Well Source 2 has existed for a long time (and rumors of Source 2 for far longer) so it's a bit late for the jokes! But yeah we won't see a Source 3 ever.

I once accidentally kneed (well, more like thigh'd) a guy in the balls because the thing to do at my school to avoid pee-pees touching when hugging a dude was to angle our crotches. But I went in too deep. TOO DEEP!!!

I had a date planned for last night but then she cancelled. She had a choir rehearsal rescheduled for last night due to two cancelled rehearsals earlier in the week because of weather. The concert is in a few days. Previous to that she had visiting family. It would've been the second date so it's not like there's a huge loss if she's not interested, but she keeps acting interested, I think, and yet it's been about a full month since we first had coffee together. I'm pretty patient when it comes to, like, meeting new people, because I'm pretty terrible at it. But it feels like she's not interested, despite acting like she is. That plus me having to work extra late a few nights last week because project deadline (I mean I did it voluntarily 'cause I wanna get my shit done but still) means last night was butt. That was a long way of saying my life is the same as it has been for years. Bleh.

??? I uh don't hate Kill la Kill?

yeppers! Haha no probably not, unless you're into the archetypal shounen. The plot is definitely not even remotely labyrinthine. The first part (i.e., Dragon Ball proper, before the Z) is a good mix of comedy and action, but the plot is essentially: fight dudes, fight stronger dudes, fight even stronger dudes. The second part (i.e., Z), is more on the side of action, and the plot is essentially: the same. There's also a lot of it. Honestly if you were interested, I'd probably recommend just reading the Dragon Ball manga until you're bored, rather than watching the anime. Less filler, etc. All that said, I fuckin' love it and I ain't ashamed y'all can eat it! Also, I have been playing a good deal of Dragon Ball Xenoverse, the newest DB game where you get to create your own character (choosing from five available DB races!!!) and travel through time righting the wrongs that some other evil-doing time travelers have created in an attempt to fuck up the timeline. That's right. It's GREAT.

In other news I watched the fourth Dragon Ball movie, which is actually the 17th movie in the whole franchise but the fourth movie specifically taking place during Young Goku's time. (We were planning to watch in order but fucked up. Oops.) So the first three movies are weird alternate-universe retellings of the first few arcs in Dragon Ball. And then this 17th movie is then again another alternate-universe retelling of Goku's origin, except this time they skip everything up to the Red Ribbon Army and so there's no Krillin or Tien or Chaozu who knows why they did this but whatever. Oddly enough, this was probably the best animated Dragon Ball content I've seen to date. Possibly because they did it as like an anniversary celebration and so put a lot of work into it, and since it's just a movie, they decided it's okay to put more money into it than they otherwise would. So that's my current Dragon Ball status. Soon we'll watch the first Dragon Ball Z movie. Oh boy!

The word "retarded", when used pejoratively, has a context and intent, and that is to demean the thing or person to whom it is referring. And considering its origin (in this context) is "mentally retarded", it is unequivocally rooted in assuming that those who would have medically been labeled as such in the past are worth less than those who aren't. I don't think it's even possible to look at the pejorative use of the word and not come to this conclusion, unless you are incredibly ignorant of society as a whole. I think you're completely misunderstanding how language works if you think "words" can even exist outside of context or intent. I am intimately familiar with the art of wordsmithing.

And see that's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. I'll be more careful in the future. Is that so hard? It's not about measurable benefit. It's about not being a complete shitbird. Well then fuck you I guess.
  24. Life

Yes, it's not that simple. But also it kind of is. For example, in the case of the word "retarded", who benefits from using it pejoratively? Nobody. Who's hurt? People with mental issues. Solution? Don't use it pejoratively!

Owen has always struck me as one of those "I'm a nice guy who's been spurned ONE TOO MANY TIMES" type of cartoon characters. Not in that he seems nice, but he seems to have that sort of sad sack vibe where he just doesn't have the patience for real life anymore, so he takes out his anger on those who have hurt him in the past (i.e., women). Through hours of YouTube videos. It's a bit more sympathetic, and comes off as more of a sort of mental issue than Aurini's straight up comic villainy. Note that when I say sympathetic it just means I can sort of see the path he took to assholery, whereas Aurini was probably built that way from the beginning. I feel sorry for him, but I don't feel that excuses his behavior at all. Just to be clear!
