It is a snarky comment because I am a snarky person. And Tanu's post, while maybe misguided or misspoken, comes from a very real place. Japanese geek culture has a large problem with sexualizing young girls, between loli and siscon and what have you. And it's not like it's a niche thing. It shows up in all kinds of places.

I believe what I said to be 100% true. But also no one said any of this I mean I know you've seen my posts in the anime thread. I've been playing Japanese games since I was three years old. I lived in Japan for six months. I know more about Japan than any other country besides America. I like Japan a lot. I would live there if I could justify it without having to work in the typical Japanese work environment. None of that means I can't criticize.

The key reason you wouldn't be Dixie is because she's fucking Dixie. Ugh. Cranky is the only acceptable Extended Kong Family Member.

wow you really got a lot out of these posts that no one said

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
Twig replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
You can skip or you can fight. The first one (not the gunner) is easily cheesed if you're interested in doing that (unless they patched it). The gunner, I beat by making him jump off the roof... A lot of people did that, as I understand it. That said there might be a reason you don't want to kill them, or at least the gunner, and this is a real spoiler for some later-game stuff. I'm not sure about all the details, but I'll just link to the Wiki page I read about it. -
Japan's definitely lagging behind on the progressive metric, whatever that might be. As I said in IRC: I, for one, frequently fondle the breasts of my action figures. *horf*

Star Fox will probably be at E3. They keep talking it up. Think it's supposed to come out by end of year?

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
Twig replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
I looked up some videos of people beating him and it seems like it's doable for me, as long as i can consistently avoid the one big attack, but I should probably still level up some more. But there's another version of him in the final Pthumeru dungeon which is even harder apparently and I'm not looking forward to that at all. -
Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))

I played this again today. I tried tackling the fourth boss of the I think third or fourth Pthumeru chalice dungeon. I can't remember. Anyway it's the Bloodletting Beast. How the fuck?? I have no idea how to beat this boss. ): I'm clearly severely underleveled because one of its attacks can kill me in a single hit. Twice I died on the first attack!! Geez. -
The combat is fantastic, but you have to be willing to prepare instead of just go in as if it's a pure action game. This is an RPG, after all.

Wow I've never had a hard drive die even once. Are you sure it's not some other piece of hardware fucking things up?

There is local multiplayer. I think it's only two people.

Cicadas make me nostalgic for the Japanese childhood I never had. Sometimes I think I might be the mythical weeaboo come to life. EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not actually joking. It's a strange and bizarre thing that I experience frequently: this nostalgia for a place that was never mine. It doesn't only happen with Japan/anime, but because Japan's probably the place I experience the most through fiction besides America, it definitely occurs most frequently for Japan. Whenever I realize what's happening in my brain it's like a slight shock and then I wake up. Without anime, cicadas would literally mean nothing to me. I very vaguely recall them existing when I was a kid but I was pretty much always an indoors nerd during the summertime so it never really stuck with me.

i dont even know who u r anymore

Mushishi is one of the few I think actually is so unlike the rest of anime it stands on its own. I may be wrong about that. And I'm obviously super biased!!!!!

in which case you should run for the hills and never look back

Idle Thumbs 209: Ten Percent Success Rate
Twig replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yeah! Talk about the cool stuff you like dang! -
DANG. I like that figure a lot actually except for the part where her panties are meticulously sculpted along with the rest of her. It unfortunately brings the rest of it all the way down. That's pretty much where I draw the line with Rad Figures or Statues or Whatever. I don't want to put anything on my shelves that's explicitly and emphatically sexualized. I do realize there's no way to make that figure in that setup without either looking awkward (solid black beneath skirt, it's been done and looks bad) or just going the whole hog. But of course an anime figure is going to go the whole hog. I did totally buy a (Young) Son Goku figure from Crunchyroll a while back, though, 'cause it was on sale (and super cheap). It uh... never showed up, though. It was a preorder but I expected it to show up by now... *investigates* edit: "It looks like the expected ship date for your pre-order is 8/31." lol i definitely did not realize it was so far out
-
Yeah. I mean honestly I probably wouldn't have gone anyway, but I like to buy a pass just in case and sell it at cost to someone else if I do end up not going. At least I got my TI5 ticket for sweet Dota fun times this year.
-
I didn't even know passes were on sale today. Bleh. Guess I'm not going. Again.

I love Scary Go Round so much.

Actually I definitely prefer voice chat for online games. Esp when playing with buddies, but just in general I find communication over voice makes things a lot better. You do of course have to suffer a bunch of assholes, so I can't blame people for not wanting it, but when people aren't assholes it brings the experience up a thousand-fold for me.

Hah well I dunno who that is. Also I'm talking about this cartoon like I ever watched it. I saw like five episodes total probably.

I mean it's not perfect, I guess? But she doesn't even have the boob-sock you see so often in superhero costumes! (Nevermind that it's probably relatively simple because it's animated, and not because they didn't want to go that far. Maybe.)
