Consider smoking weed instead. Seriously though, drinking owns but it's not really constructive behaviour, especially alone. You've probably heard it a billion times already, but generally if you're unhappy with your life, try improving on it by seeking new experiences and people, instead of replacing it with a reality you can tolerate. I don't really know your overall situation but if your work/school schedule allows it, see if there are any social activities happening in your area you could consider taking part in. I'm just out of school myself and it's funny how much social interaction you get used to, even if it's just saying hi to people in the hall or exchanging a few sentences in class. If you're having real, actual problems with quitting the drinking in itself I'm a little out of my element, but it sounds like you're at least taking the problem seriously which is good. I come from a long line of alcoholics and it's something that becomes incredibly damaging, both for yourself and those around you. Good luck either way, I'm sure you'll figure something out. On a lighter note, the only games I ever really played with my dad was stuff like Gran Turismo (which he was rubbish at, but he's way into cars). He bought a wheel and stuff for our PS1 though which was awesome.

Somewhat ashamed to say I've sort of lost interest after reaching Rank 10 (highest possible in the beta) and haven't really played it at all the past week. It's not that the game is that level-driven, mostly I think I'm just burnt out. That said I'd definitely be up for some matches with fellow Thumbs, either add me on XBL (Gamertag same as forum handle) or just suggest a time in this thread. I'll probably be free to play tonite if anyone's interested.

Well to be fair that is something that's possible in pretty much every game ever, not playing the game as intented by for example repeating a specific animation over and over again, breaking the immersion. The most entertainment I ever got out of Prototype was tapping the Left trigger instead of holding it, making the climbing look absolutely ridiculous. It probably says more about me than the game but I like to pretend otherwise.

I never really played GoldenEye or Perfect Dark that much (mostly at a friend's house, and I was terrible), but I played alot of TimeSplitters back in the PS2 heydeys, which PD with the improved texture resolution as well as upped framerate definitely reminds me alot of. Which isn't really a bad thing, the Rare/Free Radical FPS-es were always a thing of their own - the well-designed multiplayer levels that managed to stay interesting despite mostly consisting of corridors, the lack of a jump button, etc. Even though alot of the game appears archaic and outdated today (as mentioned earlier, terribly unintuitive single player level design is a good example, as well as the almost completely pointless "fine aim") it still definitely feels unique, and stands in my mind as a valid multiplayer alternative to Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2, especially when it comes to split-screen. And of course Counter-Op is brilliant, which is still a feature I miss from games, ten years on. It also has an amazing amount of content, even by today's standard, and for 800MSP I don't really have a problem recommmending it to people, even those who never played it or any of its kind back in the day.
