  1. PlayStation+

Excellent selection, I've fancied both the PS3 games but not enough to actually pay for them. Motorstorm RC is secretly one of the best games on the Vita too, it's crossbuy so do you not also get the big-console version with it on PS+?
  2. GTA ONLINE

I'd give it a few more days yet until they confirm the worst bugs - character deletion and item loss - have been fixed since you still have the SP game t play. This might finally be kind of working alright for me. Early days but there's potential there once they get round to smoothing out the rough edges and adding/amending things. The only online game I've played in the last few years has been Street Fighter where you rarely encounter mics so going into free mode and instantly hearing children from all over the world swear at one another was a depressing moment that took the shine out of successfully logging in but I persevered and found a lot to like. I won a race yesterday which was really gay apparently, but then I found some nicer people from my homeland (strangers) to mutely tag along with and quite enjoyed myself for a couple of hours. The races in GTA have always been shit but when it's real people and they get angry and laugh at one another it's a lot of fun. Also it's cool when you win and it says your name and "Idle Thumbs" and you feel good because it's a better name than pretty much everyone else has for their crews. I hope they can make it easier for friends and crews to play and stay together as that seems a bit sketchy at present, invites don't work for me at all, and I'd like a way to mute everyone I don't know or speaks a language I don't Mr Rockstar pls.
  3. Pokémon X and Y

I don't understand basically anything in this thread but I'm very excited to try this this week. There have been a few massive franchises I've never bothered with at all, then got into late and hugely enjoyed. I'd like to think this could be another. #teamY What's with the Saturday release though, is that a Japanese thing? Odd.
  4. Books, books, books...

Bring up the Bodies - done. Excellent. My ignorance of English history is finally working to my advantage as I had no idea how it was all going to pan out so far, or in the third volume for that matter, but I expect the final answer will be none too well for Mr Cremuel. Now finishing off a Chandler compilation I bought years ago with The Little Sister. The first couple of chapters have immediately reminded me why I like him so much, that Ray's a dry, funny guy.
  5. GTA ONLINE

I got an hour or so in earlier after the PS3 patch came out, but I can't get back in and my character doesn't seem to have saved. I'm going to try and hold off making a new dude in that slot and see if he comes back tomorrow. Shame, because what I saw looked fantastic. Even the races, which I've never liked in GTA, were a lot of fun.
  6. GTA ONLINE

Oh God this actually just worked, kind of, finally. I'd never got beyond the character creation screen since it launched but I got to do the tutorial race and a wee bit beyond there, stopped for now in case it doesn't save. Anyone had much luck and/or fun with it so far? Seems to be working a bit better in the US and on 360 based on what I've heard, but hopefully we can get some of the PS3 set on over the weekend in our garish purple shirts.
  7. GTA V

Lowdown, West Coast Classics, Non-Stop Pop and whatever the classic rock station is called are all amazing. I like Rebel Radio for when I'm playing as Trevor and there must be some decent stuff tucked away on the other stations too as I'd managed about 40 hours of play before stealing a car that had Windowlicker playing, which was nice. Also while we're talking about music I jumped into a car yesterday which had a song, in Spanish I think, that the Beastie Boys sampled for one of the early tracks on Hello Nasty. If anyone knows what the fuck I'm rambling about I'd love to know what it's called as I forgot to check in time. I'm about five missions from the end now so unless it pulls some crazy bullshit in those I should get it done tonight, just in time for the server-melting GTAO fiasco tomorrow. Very exciting.
  8. GTA V

I hope this becomes amazing but given I still can't save tiny-resolution pictures to Social Club nine days after release I can only see it being a whole load of spinning circle icons on day one. A lot of ambitious and interesting ideas though, and I won't even begrudge them the inevitable microtransactions if they make it half as fun as it is in my head.
  9. GTA V

Funny! I did that mission then noticed an "owned" helicopter spawned on that airfield, took it for a go, leapt from it and got a parachute so assumed it always would, but it only did that one time. I'll solve it eventually.
  10. GTA V

I found I wasn't overly bothered by the controversial bit presumably because I'm an utterly abhorrent individual. It was defintely a bit off and if they'd had to include it it could easily have been a cutscene but it was not the game-eclipsing moment I'd been led to expect. I'm really, really enjoying this overall, now about 50% in and still doing the side stuff I never do in other games because it's always just endless fetch quests or crap but here, whilst they're still generally basic, I have so much fun just mincing about in the world blaring Non-Stop Pop that I'm happy to have any excuse to do more of it. Does anyone get the logic of parachutes in this game? It seems that sometimes when I jump out of an aircraft I get one and sometimes I don't whereas in San Andreas you always got one I think. I've only found one in the wild so far, in a really inconvenient location, and I can't seem to buy them anywhere.
  11. GTA V

This game is a fun game and although I've only played about three hours it certainly seems to address most of the issues I had with GTA IV. And I kinda liked that one too. Do I need to look after the special cars each character has or do they infintely respawn if I ruin or misplace them? If they respawn, if I upgrade or paint one does it also apply to the others? I'm a bit confused by it. I assumed Frankin had an infinite amount of sweet, white rides but then at one point I went into the Los Santos Customs down Grove Street, got into some car called an Elegy (it was the only one in the inventory, where did this come from?), went for a drive, ditched it and told me it had been impounded and it was all very confusing. Haven't been exploring the countryside yet but if people are climbing Mount Chilliad in the far north does that mean nothing is locked off from the start this time, geographically anyway?
  12. PlayStation+

Is that the Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken I just bought in that sale they're pimping right now? Fuck right off. They used to have a policy that games in sales wouldn't be on PS+ within a few months of it. That's one black mark in a service that's been basically impeccable since I signed up last July though. I mainly bought it for the cloud saves but the store benefits and the range of games they've given us has been well worth it. Remember that one month they gave us Demon's Souls, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus? Woaft.
  13. GTA V

There's bound to be DLC for this, right? My guess would be in six, seven months that comes out alongside a PC/PS4 release that contains it. Presumably XBox too if it's still a thing by then. I've been on a blackout for this but it's hard to avoid getting excited for it now it's been dispatched and is slowly working its way toward my letterbox. I'm expecting graphical compromises and general rough edges but based on how much I enjoyed a playthrough of GTA3 last weekend I'm not overly concerned of the impact this will have on my merriment. I didn't think 4 was half as bad as a lot of people did and if they can sort the issues it had, add an 80s pop station and give me a massive rural environment to crash in then I'll doubtless get my £35 worth from it this gen.
  14. PL4YST4TION 4

It does Netflix and stuff too I think, maybe even movie rentals from the SEN store? And they have that Music Unlimited thing they could probably tie in to it with minimal effort and expense also potentially muscling in on the Apple TV's turf. It's a shame the new Vita proper has no OLED but if its anything like the time I moved from a Galaxy Nexus (OLED) to Nexus 4 (LCD) the difference, whilst noticeable, will be offset by the latter looking equally sharp and lovely and giving you more playtime too which is still the Vita's primary weakness.
  15. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Some of them, I had at least two sword upgrades I think but no magic boomerang that I can remember.

Grand Theft Auto III (PS2) - Warming up for a week on Tuesday by playing though the GTA games I own but haven't finished. I must have quit on this about two missions from the end back in 2001/02, I haven't played it in ten years so I'm a little hazy but I definitely unlocked that third island and completed a few missions there and there really isn't far to go from that point. This is still a fun video game if you can stomach the dismal framerate, lack of camera control and shitty gunplay - I remembered it looking rough at the time but although it's far from pretty it isn't as bad as I'd feared, and there are no infuriatingly tough missions which is pleasing. Now Vice City Stories on the Vita! The tracklist looks spectacular so I expect to enjoy this regardless of gameplay concerns.
  17. Books, books, books...

I just took four months to read one book, Cryptonomicon, 12 weeks or so of which was spent having put it down and not really wanting to pick it back up. It was alright I guess although the ending was really rushed considering how long it took to get there. I didn't realise until I'd finished and went back to the home screen but it turns out that during this period I was still buying cheap Kindle books as I saw them and apparently I own Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies so I've started the first one now, weird they get mentioned on the cast this week. Two hours in and I think I'm enjoying it although I'm not sure I'll be able to read it half-asleep on the train which is where the bulk of my reading time is, it's pretty demanding.
  18. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

    Praise the Umbasa.
  19. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

YES I'M INTERESTED I can't get on to FaceBook at work, are there any details of what it entails posted there? Like when it starts or how limited the spaces are?
  20. Recently completed video games

I own that somehow, think I got it in a Humble Bundle aaaages ago. I'd be interested in giving it a brief shot as I know its reputation full well but it doesn't look that intimidating from screenshots, sadly this computer can't play 3D anything though.

Dead Space is the most terrifying game I've ever played and the thought that there might be more terrifying games out there is too terrifying to comprehend. I'm not into horror games/films at all but it hooked me (in short bursts, alternating with the original Little Big Planet, as I couldn't handle more than a chapter a day) and whatever mysterious allure it had the sequel certainly didn't based on the hour I played after it came to PS+ last year. Not even close.
  22. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

This is me with everything, it's a curse. It took a very good friend some time to talk me out of persevering with whatever the second Game of Thrones book is when I was halfway through, not liking it at all and fully aware there were thousands of pages of the series to follow. And I nearly booted up Link to the Past again last night since I know I must be less than five hours away from the end and part of me would like to say I'd done it but that's free time I could put into having guaranteed fun with Rayman Legends which I'm thoroughly enjoying instead so I eventually convinced myself to do that.
  23. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I dunno what to say then. I found it fairly punishing in how much damage certain enemies dish out, and very frustrating at times in that there are some which can be unavoidable - ones with randomised movement which you can literally not avoid sometimes depending on where they are when you enter a room, a big hand that repeatedly falls from the ceiling in one dungeon that can grab you and throw you back to the start even when Link is taking an item out of a chest and cannot be controlled. I'm also just really bad at the fundamentals of combat in this game generally, finding it hard to judge my effective distances and movement which accounts for a lot of my frustrations - I can see what I need to do but I just can't make my hands do it. These hands served me admirably in Ikaruga and the From games so they can definitely do things but they don't get on with this. And Link's Awakening wasn't that hard either, I was surprised how difficult I found this myself. I feel like there's a card I should be turning in.
  24. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

A Link to the Past. I don't feel good about it but I wasn't enjoying myself, I got to about the second last I think of the seven dungeons and it warned me not to go any further without green potion and I said OK and turned off the Wii. Didn't like the overworld design, found exploring much less enjoyable than Awakening and really struggled in some bits - there are parts I found more difficult and frustrating than Demon's Souls, wouldn't even played as far as I did without serious abuse of save states. I know it's probably my fault for going in with high expectations right after finishing Link's Awakening, should've taken a break, but I found the whole thing pretty disappointing.
  25. PSN ID exchange

Does anyone play Rayman Legends*, Everybody's Golf or Street Fighter IV/Third Strike? Also available for whatever is on EU PS+. PSN in sig, let us play some video games. * the challenge mode in this is superb but only one person on my friends list is playing it.
