  2. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

    Dark Souls 2.....
  3. David Mitchell

I just finished Jacob de Zoet yesterday, and it was fantastic. It was the first book I've read from this writer. I have to agree with the other commentators about how Mitchell can just create some some pretty out there scenarios for the characters in his story. The last half of the book became a page turner, and I was able to finish it in just four sittings. Also this book has one of the best passages, I have read. Chapter ten, where de Zoet is gardening, just brought a huge grin to my face. Any ways I can't wait to start on Cloud Atlas. I already bought it, but I'm a little disappointed that I saw the cover with the movie actors on it. I try to stay in the dark when it comes to any book I read, and having an exact image of what the characters look like or what Hollywood has decided they look like, takes some of the enjoyment of building the images in my mind as i read. Oh well, I'm also bumbed that i wont finish it until some time after the podcast has gone up.
  4. anime

There hasn't been anything good out recently, but the last thing I saw that I would highly recommend to any one who likes anime is Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, or Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. In English. The only simulcast that's been able to hold my attention is Yurumate3Dei, which is a three minute episode dumb little thing. I've been wanting to watch A Certain Scientific Rail-gun on the Funanimation website, but they really suck at updating it. It is by far one of the worst for pay streaming experiences I've had. It been in beta for over a year and they still haven't improved it. But other then that I've found my self re-watching The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Toradora. I'm enjoying both again .
  5. anime

Any one know where I can watch Hyouka legally in the US?
  6. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

What ever, I cool with only playing baby games
  7. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

The Black Knight weapons can get to plus 5 with out the large ember, if you have the twinkling titanite. And at plus three it or so the weapon will be just as strong as most plus ten, and at plus 5 it will be just as strong as a lot of plus fifteen weapons.
  8. Can't they make Fathead versions of big bird or video games, or even three headed gaming wizard. I'd spend money on another idle kick starter for that.
  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I didn't know where the door to the lower part was. I even went all the way through Blight Town from the Vally of Drakes up until I hit the locked door to the Depths. I was wondering why all the enemies where facing the wrong way. Must be a bug, you dumb designers. I guess I'm the dumb designer after all. The depth where a joke at the level I was at. And it became my go to place for farming humanity .
  10. What's with all the booth babe and manhunt murder swag. I hope all this money that just waiting to to be thrown at your faces goes to some more appropriate swag. Like a full size big bird, or fear of big dog. Also STICKERS!!! Also I'm a child.
  11. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

There is some thing really satisfying about being high leveled, with a fully upgraded weapon, and going through the early parts of the game just wasting everything in the way. I didn't go into the lower undead burg, until after I got passed Anor Londo. Man the Carpa Daemon stood no chance. Right now even though I can kill any regular enemy with one or two shots, I am still getting killed by just cocky play, where I rush into a battle and get overwhelmed by a mob. It was a big game changer when I learned to dodge and parry properly. I just run around with real light armor and a plus 15 Iaito and plus 5 chaos blade for regular enemys, and a plus 5 Black Knight sword for boss fights.
  12. 1Q84

I just finished 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. First thought, gosh it's a freakn' long book. Looking back at it, it feels that it was maybe 200 pages too long. In some chapters the characters basically did the same things as in some other previous chapter. With that gripe aside, I actually really liked the book. Given that it was so long, when I returned day after day to the book, it felt like I was coming back somewhere familiar. It gave some odd comfort to just come back to Aomame’s or Tengo’s apartment. I am quite glad I was able to see this one to the end. It was quite a pleasant read.
  13. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I got invaded twice, once under the Wyvern Bridge, this one was early on and terrified me because I still did not have a grasp on the mechanics. I quickly died. The next one was in the bottom of Blight Town near the entrance of Quelaags Domain. I was busy with those annoying mosquitoes , and for some reason I did not realize that I was being invaded. The guy stabbed me in the back just as I realized he was there. Man fuck those mosquitoes. But I also had my first invasion of another person. This was in Darkroot Garden, in the section with all the stone knights. first I awaken all of the knights and ents, and got them all to follow. The host had just entered this section, and at this point all of the knights and ent agrowed on him. He tried to fight, but was quickly overwhelmed. It didn't help that the knights where casting slow on him. Man talk about heart racing gaming experiences. Also I fell real bad bad after this. But i feel bad killing guards in Metal Gear games so meh.
  14. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I find that third person action games like Dark Souls, Space Marine, and Darksiders, are much easier and smother with a game pad. When it comes to first person any thing I need M&K. I tried to play Syrim with a wired 360 game pad and could not deal with it. I had to go back to M&K. Also most modern PC games work seamlessly with the wired 360 controller, so that is a no brainer if you play enough games.
  15. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I haven't been more exiteded to come home and play a game in a long time. It's not that it is hard, it's just that you have to be careful about everything. Most of my deaths where due to the fact that I got a bit cocky, and rushed through a section. One time I spent some time going though a part with a minor boss in an area full regular enamys. After taking my time and carefully maneuvering the area, I cleared it out. I justifiably felt like a badass. The path out had a coridor with like five of the weakest guys in the game. Obviously I was a total awesome awesome guy, and these guys where no match for me. But I went in too quickly, and one of them got a hit on me, which staggered me and the rest of them took me out. The whole point is that you just have to respect all of the bad guys, even the unimposeing starting guys because they can all do serious damage. And you also don't nesceraly need ultra fast reflexes like in a God of War game on the harder difficulties, but just take your time and watch the enamy for an opening. Also, when I got to the entrance of the chapel with the bell. It took like fifteen minutes to take out the four heavily armored knites in there. Just as the last guy died, I heard a ringing, and it took me a second to realize that someone else had roung the bell. In which I exclaimed hell yeah. Everything in this game just makes you feel like you're actually accomplishing something. Even though it is a Video game.
  16. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

So, what is the benefit to between being human or not, other then letting people into your game? And what dose kindling do?
  17. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

So where do i up grade my stuff? i just made it past the bridge with the dragon.
  18. Skyrim Hearthfire: Nick Brekon's This Old House

Yeah i tell my self, how much I hate all those dumb mundane activities. Yet, with out even realizing it, I got to the top of the black smith, enchanting and speech trees in Skyrim way before anything else. The time I spent smiting and selling might be equal to all the adventuring i did. And when I look back at it, all that siting in a menu pressing the "r" key and "enter" over and over again was real dumb. But I'll do it again when I go for another play through. sigh
  19. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

thanks Is the thief hard because of all the parry that one has to do? Or is there something else more horrible I don't know about. Any ways what type of build was the most enjoyable to play as?
  20. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I just started today as a thief. Is there any advice that y'all can give to a total nubbe.
  21. On one of the episodes i heard one of you guys say there was a place to get some Idle swag. Like a sweet mug. Is that still a thing. If so can i get a link, so I can "pimp" like a thumb, while i wait for the other stuff. Also thinks for doing the show for free for such a long time.
  22. 1Q84

If you are looking for some good shorter no fantasy with Murakami's style, you should definitely check out Norwegian Wood.
  23. 1Q84
