  1. Flash game websites

I remember www.whattheyplay.com had a bit of coverage on that type of stuff. Not sure how the site has been maintained since J.D. sold it to IGN, but it's original mission statement was basically to serve your demographic.
  2. haha that's terrible. Also, anybody notice that somebody sent in one of the questions from this episode to the Gamers with Jobs podcast? I'm pretty sure it had elements from the Thumbs response in it as well.
  3. Flotilla

Was playing this game earlier today with similar mechanics. It's 2D and has a bit of a crimson skies feel to it. http://cache.armorgames.com/files/games/steambirds-5426.swf Flotilla is definitely way better, but if you want to scratch your turn based combat itch.
  4. Just Cause 2

I'm getting a "Space Asshole" vibe from this game.
  5. The Witness by Jonathan Blow

This guy certainly enjoys re-inventing the wheel. I wonder how much faster development on this game would be if he just used LightMass.
  6. Infinity Ward - MW2 news

I just realized I started 3 consecutive sentences with "It seems that", and the edit function on the forum isn't working :/
  7. Infinity Ward - MW2 news

It seems that the majority of those details are buried in the "Memorandum of Understanding" mentioned on page 7. It seems that it gives West and Zampella creative authority over Modern Warfare and royalty rights to all CoD games. It seems that Activision has basically thrown this document out the window, and never really intended to honour it.
  8. Infinity Ward - MW2 news

There have been a lot of rumours stating that the new MMO that Blizzard is working on is FPS based, but there is no way that it's Call of Duty related. It may seem strange to think this way, but Blizzard is untouchable in a way that Infinity Ward was not. If Activision is going to pressure Blizzard to do anything, it's release games that they would typically have pushed a year or two longer. IW released some successful games, but the marketing team deserves almost as much credit for that as the devs. There was very little original about the experience, they just borrowed from existing games and created a compelling single player experience. Again, credit to them for doing so well, but it's not the most original game out there. Activision knows that the general public can't tell the difference betwen IW and Treyarch, and while this makes waves now they'll still likely sell millions of copies when they launch CoD:Vietnam. Blizzard on the other hand is much more complex, and brings in much more money. As a general comparison of the disparity between the studios, Blizz has 1,500 employees and IW has 97.
  9. I joined the community group, hit me up if you're interested in TF2 or Bad Company.
  10. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

Hmmm I'll have to play more of it then. It definitely isn't nearly as polished an experience as the CoD games though. Also, Idle Company is possibly the best name for a clan ever.
  11. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

I don't know if I'd call the single player "awesome", but it seems to be alright. One thing I've noticed is that instead of taking all movement away from the character when they want you to wait for an in-game scripting event, they just put a temporary blocking volume. It's strange, but more control feels more confining.
  12. New people: Read this, say hi.

Wanted to say hi, thought I'd register for the forums. Huge fan of the podcast, and find the community contributions to be unusually funny.
  13. Infinity Ward - MW2 news

Wow, read articles 31 and 32 on page 10. I want to sell my shares in this company so bad, but SC2 is about to hit Korea
