qfqfsaa-m2 (right click) wow is that beam powerful. it creates a beam of steam and lightning. The steam soaks the enemies, and works with the lightning for massive damage. Since it's steam and not water, it doesn't fall under the opposites rule. R-E-spacebar is a bit game breaking too. Oops! all Wizard time.

I'll be out. Have fun.

Ok after playing a bit of this game solo, I need to start playing it co-op. Anybody have any plans to play soon?

How is that less evil than almost every console game coming out of EA and Activision being designed to be played over a 2-3 month period and then be thrown away so that you have time to play their next release? As much effort that they put into it, none of those publishers want to make another Counter-Strike or Starcraft. The balance decisions are made to make it immediately accessible, and immediately disposable. The problem is with the game, not the business model. And while it may be difficult to separate church from state, put the blame where it's due, on the game. There are a ton of games out there using the free-to-play model that are both ethical, and fun experiences on their own.

Three Moves Ahead ep 103: With Chris Remo
Forbin replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I feel like Tom needs to watch some Day9 dailies and give up his beef with Blizzard. It's like pulling teeth to get him to acknowledge the game has any depth, or that it's got any value beyond the most hardcore players. The game is so layered, that it just works so well at almost any level of skill. -
[Sesame Street] I guess we all have to buy a Kinect now...

Pajama Sam was an amazing series for kids. They understood that kids would want to replay the game continuously so there were variations on each puzzle. -

The answer for portal 2 is probably yes. The fluid system they've introduced may not scale well, but everything else should. Now I have a real choice. Buy it on PS3 and get the free copy, or pre-order through steam and get 20% off in a 2-pack.

I like the parallax scrolling. I think it'd be interesting to experiment with y-scrolling as well. Peeked into the code, some comments: - ( (ratio-1)*A + (ratio-1)* = (1 - ratio) * (A + Which would mean that a 1:1 ratio value would never be affected by the scroll adjustment (1-ratio) = 0. Anything less than 1 would move left faster than normal, and any cell with a ratio > 1 position would accelerate right relative to it's natural position. As to the content, I have to agree with others. The text is not just difficult to read due to it's structure, but visually hard to digest. Black on pink is hard enough to read, but while it's moving and in a complex font, it's very straining on the eyes. I recommend you find a container that's more of a whitish gray and switch to a simple font. Personally I'd drop the pink all together, but that's more from a usability point of view than from an artistic one.

yes, yes. But the important thing, is that a robot competed on, and WON Jeopardy against Ken Jennings.

I really wish I had time to play this game. I'll probably buy it soon. Have the patches fixed most of the problems?

Since this was bumped. Any plans for a Conf grenade at either GDC or PAX east this year?

This might be a spoiler, but I think it may have sold me a copy.

I hope you guys do end up doing more. I wouldn't even mind if there was less voice acting to cut costs, so long as I don't end up having to click dialogue bubbles consisting of only ellipses...

It's a bit PC elitist I know, but I feel about using a controller for first person games how console gamers feel about superfluous motion controls. It may be the trendy thing to do right now, and it's hitting a wide market, but no matter how much you train yourself with it, it's not the best control scheme.

Like I said. Valve makes and supports some of the best PC games, and they're the last company in the world I'd want to mislead by boosting their console sale numbers. But Jake is right, they probably will understand the conversion when I associate the PS3 version then log all my hours on PC.But also, I have no desire to try to make portals with my thumbs.

unfortunately we wouldn't even be considered "amateur" optomitrists. But it is still a good video.

I'm torn. I don't want to throw off Valve's metrics and tell them that I'm a console gamer, and I want more money to go to the developer directly. But I think there's no way in hell that Sony will allow this kind of Steam Play push from the other direction and if I want the game on all of my devices it's best for me to buy it on PS3.

Don't forget you gained Thrash from 81-85. That and swipe are on separate 6 second cooldowns, and it's super easy to hold multiple target aggro. If things really go wrong, use your berserk, mangle spam with berserk will not only keep all the mobs on you, but you'll do a crap ton of damage. If it's a problem with staying alive, it may be more your healers problem. But if you've got aggro on all targets, it's a lot easier on the healer.

The progress from non-heroic to heroic dungeons was a bit bumpy. And the raids are much harder than WotLK. I find the geography mind bending. Previous expansions have always been single landmasses built around a hub city with portals to the old world. The Dalaran and Shattrath portals have been removed, and all that remains are portals from Org and Stormwind to the new continents, all of which couldn't be further from civilization. They're great zones, but you will never find yourself going to them unless you're doing archaeology or daily quests. One doesn't simply walk into them. So when you're done questing, it does all feel a bit widespread. I think the raids are amazing, and though they're hard right now I think I prefer that to WotLK where almost everybody had cleared all the raids the first night they were available. Once they do become farm-mode and pugable, I think people will appreciate their length. Right now it feels like a time commitment because we're wiping through progression, but realistically these are short dungeons with limited trash, and dynamic boss fights. PvP is a bit broken on my battlegroup. Queues are way too long to make it your focus unless you've got something to do in your downtime. I'm not sure if opening up cross-battlegroup BGs would relieve or compound that problem, but something needs to be done. Perhaps Blizzard should run look at some metrics and attempt to rebalance the battlegroups on current population numbers. Arena is a lot of fun now. I don't know if it's because of the gear reset, or if it's just the way conquest points are rewarded, but it seems fun rather than a chore.
