Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server

Thank you whoever started work on the enderfarm bridge. That was the part I was least looking forward too. I put down about 3 stacks of iron tracks on the way out there. We'll probably need another stack or so, and then put in the powered rails. I also setup a snow golum farm, and brought materials for shovels. Just hold down your shovel at the snow at a 45 degree angle like in the screenshot. Tap the ground while shoveling and then point back at the snow. You start shoveling at crazy speeds. http://steamcommunity.com/id/Forbin/screenshot/559813303772979303 Anyways, we should have enough snow right now for a few rings. But it shouldn't take long to get the blocks we need for the whole thing. I think the main thing we're going to have trouble with is redstone and iron for the pistons. Also, there's another snow farm just to the north west of the world tree close to spawn. In the normal world golums only spread snow in snowy biomes. -

I believe it's a block update system that exploits grass growth in a dark room. -

You may need an array of them for it to be accurate. -

So we need to be at least 150 blocks away from the shore, the video recommends 200 to give you space. Basic materials we'll need. Blocks: x infinity (snow golem farm is a good recommendation) for 1 spawn pad: 1 redstone or 1 repeater (3 redstone, 2 sticks, 3 stone) 1 pressure plate (2 stone) 1 normal piston (1 redstone, 1 iron ingot, 4 stone, 3 wood) Assuming we do what the video suggested and go with 17 the total for one complete spawner ring would be: 42 redstone + 8 wood + 24 stone + ~100 blocks The Base would be basically 34 glowstone + 34 sticky pistons. Assuming we want a kill switch. We could always start with it just always in kill mode, though I think the lag would be unfortunate. Maybe a water toggle would be a cheaper kill pad. It's an expensive thing to do, and I'm not sure I want to do it right away, but I think it'll be fun. Also a lot easier with /fly. -

Thanks for taking the pic. There won't be any more dragons, but it's not really an interesting fight anyways. We could always delete the end dimension to fight another, but part of the reason to go there so quickly was so we could start building an amazing XP farm. Also, I've created a path to the stronghold through the nether. It's behind the portal marked by signs. -

We've located the fortress stronghold and have put in most of the ender eyes. At 3pm EST (just under 4 hours) we're going to make a push for the end dragon. Bring a bow and some armor, and maybe a pumpkin hat if you don't want to look at the endermen. -

Also, Thompson found a nether fortress and we started beating up some blazes. We've got a new netherwart farm near the portal, and a potion stand at my place by the melons. Feel free to brew something with the mats in the chest right beside the stand. Don't use the blaze rods though, we're using them on eyes of ender to get to the end. So if you see any endermen, be sure to kill them. We're going to need about 15 eyes to find and open the stronghold portal. -

As Orv said I was wrong about /fly. I misheard something early on. Everything everyone has built is crazy impressive. And TBH, we could have built that tree with just the ability to fly. Recently I started farming trees as the wall to my base, and even without bonemeal they grow insanely quickly on a multiplayer server. It would have been a pain in the butt, but they could have gathered that much wood without much more than some bonemeal. -

Edit: i'm wrong about creative mode, misheard something early on. When you type /fly, you get creative mode. Everyone has access to that, which does pretty much make that aspect of survival a little bit of a grey area. But everyone seems to be enjoying it. I'm playing 100% legit right now, and I think Atebit was playing the same way. But it's hard to tell if his tower stub of stone bricks is the product of a bunch of furnaces and time, or creative mode. However, he did spend hours branch mining looking for diamond so he and I could place the nether portal with legit materials so I assume it's real. The densely populated core is looking like it's going to be great. It's pretty cool to look up in a thunder storm and see 3 or 4 different people working on their separate projects up in the rain. -

There were a series of rivers almost surrounding our spawn point. In an attempt to plan out a densely populated core we've decided for now to try to build within the river perimeter. I connected the few spots where they weren't connected before, but there's still a bit of dredging to do. Try not to branch mine inside the perimeter, it may interfere with subway lines later. -

Atebit and I went into the nether and got a little over 2 stacks of glowstone blocks for the FNick sign. What's the general plan for this area? -

Yeah that seed has a giant mushroom biome with extreme hills like features right beside a jungle and a pine forest. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the layout in general. Kind of a bunch of wierd biomes strung together in an ocean. -

Yeah, but we'll need to find one. They're pretty rare, so it's probably easiest to find a seed that we like. -

Oh I just thought of something. If people don't want mobs to spawn, we could try to get a seed and build around a mushroom biome. No mobs spawn there even at night. In the JL server they built their bases around them to increase the efficiency of the mob traps, but we could one as a safe haven. -

sweet. Ok, so if anyone is interested. We can blitz some iron for a bucket and a lighter, then place mold a portal, and have access to the nether for our glowstone sign. -

I actually heard about it through bdouble0100. I think there is a 5% discount if you want to put that on top if you use the promo code "BdoubleO100". -
I know it's a bit of a back seat driver comment, but Notch seems to type out a lot more than necessary while using Eclipse. Now that I spend most of my time in dynamic languages I get really nostalgic about how quick and fluid it was to code in Java in that IDE.

This german server blows my mind with what they do without mods or creative mode: -

Actually, if you could turn off creeper and enderman terrain damage, that'd be pretty nice. Safe havens would be good, if someone wanted to stake out an area and say that mobs aren't welcome. Is there a mod that handles it that way instead of in large quadrants? -

It's not so much a technical problem of having both at the same time, but having creative access somewhat ruins the survival. We talked a lot about having both in the same world, with self imposed rules, or mods to restrict access to creative mode. I'm not sure it can work without a larger community to essentially support 2 full servers. The creative mode was nice for a while, but I think people burned out from it fairly quick. Almost everyone interested in playing in creative ended up saying that they'd be interested in survival. And almost everyone that preferred survival seemed to say they'd only play if it wasn't creative. There's no guarantee that those people would play at all, but it seemed like we had a better chance pleasing more people with survival. I've converted to the full survival side. When you look at what people like Docm77, Etho and the Mindcrack guys can do without access to creative, it seems like their builds are much more meaningful. You start building mob harvesters and XP farms with a purpose. -

Starting to think about playing some MP Minecraft survival again. Anyone else interested in hunting down a server?
