  1. I'm still a bit creatively spent with minecraft, but I'm going to try to get back into it for 1.6 Horses, and custom sound packs are small additions, but I think it's worth checking out again. Also I guess I've never fought a Wither boss or played with comparators and hoppers.
  2. What would Molydeux

I wonder if this was before or after Sean had his interview with him: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2013/06/19/peter-molyneux-reviews-iphone-fart-apps.aspx
  3. What would Molydeux

So we're doing this again... www.molyjam.com July 5th - 7th Come make games.
  4. Unity

It's worth pointing out the Pro version of Unity allows you to use text files for scenes and meta files which will reduce a lot of the pain of collaborating on a Unity project. Still it's inadvisable to have people working on the same scene, as you'll have to use patient merges in git for it to do things properly on large changes. Often it's pretty good though. Unless someone's drastically re-organized the game object hierarchy in a scene things aren't that bad.
  5. Crosswords

Yeah I do those as well. They're a lot of fun. I'm a bit nervous about getting into the NY Times Crossword because I'm not a huge fan of traditional crosswords, and I like how cryptic crosswords typically have validatable answers. NY Times Sunday sounds like it mixes wordplay with trivia, and will often lead you down a huge set of incorrect answers you're forced to back track on. But that's mainly going off the crossword documentary I watched about it, I'm planning on giving them a try soon.
  6. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I'm thinking I may quit Thomas was Alone. The level design later in the game is starting to become infuriating.
  7. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

Personally I didn't fund because: 1) it looked like it was going to succeed without my help 2) I'm not really super into turned based tactics games. The ones I have, i hardly play. 3) I don't feel like I'm getting an early backer's deal at a $20 price point. 4) I kind of want one of the game kickstarter campaigns I've backed to deliver before I go deeper. 5) I haven't really kept up with the broken age documentary, so I doubt I'd find time to go through content updates 6) I don't really like the name. I know that 3 is a bit silly, and that the spirit of Kickstarter should be to PBS pledge drive the success of the project rather than think of the values of the tiers. But if this game comes out, I can almost guarantee I'll pick it up for $5 on a steam deal, or in some bundle later. But in combination with 1 and 2, I guess I was only really looking at the project at face value. I wish them good luck though, it sounds like an interesting game. And I think it's great that Double Fine is looking to deal more directly with the public rather than through publishers.
  8. Steam Trading Card

I got one from osmosisch today thanks.
  9. Steam Trading Card

yeah i'm still looking for an invite if anybody has one.
  10. Steam Trading Card

If anybody gets an invite they wouldn't mind sharing I'm interested in it.
  11. Candy Box

Ok, then I'm going to bail out now I guess. Other than the frog is there anything that feels totally new? I feel like I'm just doing more of the same min/maxing my candy/lollipop production and burning potions to get through quests.
  12. Candy Box

It would be hilarious if this ended up being a bit-coin mining scheme.
  13. The threat of Big Dog

I was just reminded by brkl's signature about Curiosity recently drawing a penis on Mars.

  15. Poker Night 2

People that complain about Omaha shouldn't play Omaha. It's fun, and the rules are fairly simple. Also that Wikipedia explanation needs some editing. You don't need a similarity in the middle of a list of differences.
  16. The threat of Big Dog

I like that the description of that chemical petman video mentions that he sweats. Also this topic is over 3 years old now, and still filled with terrifying new robot videos.
  17. Poker Night 2

I'm enjoying it. I still wish they had a skip dialog button. Sometimes they freeze you out acting, and you're just listening to a long dialogue piece for the 5th time. Also the UI takes a while to load, which is especially annoying 'cause you have to navigate to a few different screens just to get to the exit. I like that they tried to fix truncated dialog by including segues, but I feel like it'd be better off if they were just silently implied rather than vocalizing "so anyway...". Although I think the format for TF2 rewards is a bit better being predictable, there was a certain rush I felt trying to knock out a specific player in the first Poker Night. It definitely burned me out on the game, but it felt like it was giving stakes to single player poker. Now I'm just mashing all-ins to get a substantial lead early. My favourite thing is the way claptrap handles chips. Every motion feels happy.
  18. We started a game of this at the office last week. I think it was a mistake.
  19. Starcraft Two

Doesn't almost every thread in Multiplayer Networking also have a thread in the VG forum?
  20. Minecraft

Book and Quil could definitely change up chain worlds. Did that last one ever get that far?
  21. The Thread Where ThunderPeel Attacks Everyone™

I'd been avoiding reading the FF thread since it seemed like it might be a bit of a mess. Whatever else TP, it seems like you certainly had people deliberately ignoring the content of your posts. For that to continue for so many pages, and then transition to PMs, that's got to be frustrating.
  22. Garriott: "Most designers really just suck"

Agreed with all points in this thread. Garriott is being a dick but he's kinda right, and he's definitely taken out of context. Also, programmers are wizards. His main points I think are that people that try to do design that don't have a strong skillset outside design, often aren't very good. And that a lot of designers are too timid to do something new. Which I think is more tied to the pressure to create something commercially successful than it is with designers being lazy or unoriginal. Sometimes the parameters are too tight to "move the needle". But this is a sick burn on Koster.
  23. Starcraft II

I can't seem to figure out how to join, you might need to invite people. In which case, it might be better as a group so we can make it open.
  24. Starcraft II

cool, i'll join it. What's the diff between clans and groups beyond only having one, and getting a tag?
  25. Double Fine's Dropchord

Leap-what? This is all i can think of:
