  1. Cartoons!

Well it's like Bratz and W.I.T.C.H and Winx Club, and everything that's sad and weird about girls' cartoons.
  2. Cartoons!

Well it's obviously some producer asshole said "How do we transition into the tween demographic? We make them high school girls, duh, easy. Free money." Lauren Faust came from Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends to develop the My Little Pony cartoon. After Season 1, she left and started work on . Which is why that seems fun and this doesn't.
  3. Fez

I dunno, I feel like the game established that it's full of weird puzzles, and all the strange ones were anti-cubes, so I was fine with stuff like the clock puzzle or the observatory puzzle. The main 32 golden cubes, and the main path to the end of the game IS kind of underwhelming, and doesn't really hit 100% of it's potential, you're right on that. If someone wanted to get to the end quickly and put this game down, then I wouldn't reccomend it so much, because there's not THAT MUCH to explore in the world-rotating mechanic. If you ask me it's fun ENOUGH, though, to be a breadcrumb trail through a game-world that I thought was fun and cute, and had a really great soundtrack. It's just pixel-art, but things like the giant stone owl, and the villages and the temples are really fun things to find. Ontop of that, to repeat myself, I thought Fez's weird tricks were pretty neat. Apart from deciphering the language, which I thought was a boondoggle.
  4. Meeting people from the internet is weird

I'll never remember all that! Great, now this will just exascerbate my panic attacks!! This is semi-related, but when meeting actual TV celebrities in real life, I crack up laughing. I get the exact same feeling you get when a friend does a really good impression of someone and you laugh cos it's so true. I never would've expected this until I saw heavyweight boxer Ricky Hatton in a bar and couldn't look at him without giggling.
  5. Saturday Morning Streams

Oh my god the part where he flies down the hall. THAT MAN IS FLYING. NO SPECIAL EFFECTS, THAT IS A FLYING MAN.
  6. The Bureau: Xcom declassified

I did like the mysterious obelysk aliens before, and I think I liked the setting more before, but at least now it's one layer more interesting than just being a shooter. I did like seeing the old abandoned barn and all the vintage American garages and diners. Good god, Polygon doing their previews outside...
  7. Fez

I always say this, but I beat Fez with like 62 cubes without learning to read that stuff. Infact it was really annoying me by the end, so I looked it up and the way they actually show you in-game is total bullshit and I walked passed it a thousand times. To me it's a shame that overshadows everything, cos I thought the game was great without it, and I actually don't like that part.
  8. PL4YST4TION 4

I agree that the lights in the eyes is actually really cool.
  9. Meeting people from the internet is weird

My experience meeting people I speak to regularly on the internet is that they turn out to be a huge fucking dork, which I like and that's easy to hang out with. I met a bunch of people at FlashGameSummit who I talk to on this marketing and licensing site, and I guess I assumed they were all miserable suits, but no they're a bunch of drunk 20-year-old goofballs. So it was great.
  10. Meeting people from the internet is weird

In order to get people to read my blog posts on GiantBomb, I drew some of my GDC experiences as comics. Still nobody read it >:C Not pictured is me waiting behind Lovers In A Dangerous Space-Time for somewhere between 5-10 minutes, watching two guys from Revision3 play it and talk to the developers. Then I picked up a controller and they said "Let's all go get lunch!", and I stood at a game that does not start without a Player 2, and swivelled around looking for a friend for a while. This game had been FULL for the passed TWO DAYS, I don't know what the fuck-... As they were leaving I said "Hey that Rev3's pretty good!" and Anthony Carboni said "Thanks!" Also on that day, I crossed the road next to a guy, and then 5 seconds later thought "Wait was that Jake Rodkin?" Then at the awards show he got onstage in the same clothes and I said "Oh fucking god damn it." I usually don't wanna just step infront of people and say "HEY IT'S YOU!" but at GDC I decided I'll do that and see what happens.
  11. Plug your shit

    --Fuck wait, wrong thread! edited
  12. Cartoons!

For the record: I think My Little Pony is obviously a cartoon for babies, and is pretty unwatchable. I mean hey they did a great job, and I respect it, I think it's super interesting, but the actual show clearly not for me. If I had to watch a full episode of Powerpuff Girls or Adventure Time then thumbs up, but Fluttershy is the shy one and that's more or less her whole thing. There aren't any actually funny jokes or anything. Oh also I was gonna say wow, this trailer REALLY shows the limits of their animation. Doesn't look so great when the characters aren't chubby marshmellows. Also Rainbowdash being a lesbian is fun, it'd be a shame to stomp it out.
  13. If you don't know that Doug is a person in real life, that blog entry just looks like a weird new medium for fan-ficiton. "Here's Doug from the Walking Dead's cookies. Next week: Commander Shepard's pie."
  14. I thought dollface barbarian was a hilarious idea until this animation- cos now she has hot tit jiggle on step and I know this is a sex thing. That kind of overshadows what was funny about it.
  15. Cartoons!

Yeah Derpy Hooves is definately a character, it was a whole thing that blew up on em for a while. It's crazy that that voice got to air. I think it's great that the fanbase interpreted one of the characters as a drunkard from like... half an animation cycle. I think that's funny. and I don't know what's up with that.
  16. Cartoons!

TIME TO MY LITTLE PONY: 21 POSTS I was legit waiting for someone to say that. I watched the first couple episodes and thought it was really cool how they took THAT old thing, and made THIS out of it. I know one guy who actually kept up with it, and he said "It slowly turned into a boy's cartoon" which was a really weird thing to think about. Cos yeah, the last episode of Season 2 is a giant fight scene, which is incredibly weird. Also I love that the internet went fucking crazy on that cartoon, cos it ended up everyone getting . I used to like Futurama, but there was literally a day where I decided to stop watching. It was in the feature-length episode "Beast With A Billion Backs". They chose to make a movie about the fucking loneliest being in existance bringing on a solipsistic brain-washing of the earth, and I just realised that this show is miserable. Everyone hates everyone, Fry, Bender, Leela, Zoidberg, every character: they're all thoughtlessly mean, stupid or sad! It's always the end of the world, Fry's dog's alone, everyone from 1999 misses him, his girlfriend came back and hated him, Bender got obese and died, Leela cries openly about once every 3 episodes, Santa is a murderous robot-- aurgh!! Suicide booths! At least Milhouse wins SOMETIMES, y'know? ...and now I'm wondering why I like Always Sunny in Philidelphia so much. I kind of feel like that's more of a cartoon, and all that stuff comes off as funny.
  17. Oh right I forgot about that.
  18. What the hell is the connection between XCOM and Barack Obama? I just assumed there was a news story where Barack Obama is a big fan of XCOM, but a couple minutes later decided that that's ridiculous.
  19. 'GUN_MONKEYS' from Size Five Games

Congrats whoever animated that cartoon smoke! Ya done it!
  20. Gears of War: Judgement

I really love Gears of War- but I actually love it so much that I go back and play Horde mode regularly... ...so I'm pretty up-to-date on these games and I'm not that interested in a couple enemy alterations. Sorry, People Can Fly! I think the games leading up to this were just super duper spot-on.
  21. GTA V

Am I being a crazy person here, or does anyone else think it'd ruin it if you could freely zoom in and whiz the camera around in this simulation? Also wow this smoke and these waves are really dukin it out for my attention here.
  22. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

Official Far Cry twitter account makes controversial boast!
  23. Fez

I got about 61 cubes without looking anything up, or deciphering any language. They're mostly just good, fun puzzles.
  24. GTA V

Wow this Rev3 video just reminded me that this game actually does sound rad as fuck: Describing character-switching as being a director in these heist missions is sweeeeeeeeeet! (and I'm sure is exactly how they described it at the preview event)
  25. You guys talking about Neptune's Pride sounds EXACTLY like GiantBomb talking about Eve Online. The fact that it has a really simplistic set of mechanics, and all the douchey subterfuge happens outside of the game is exactly what they were talking about this week, when they went to an Eve convention. Oh except everyone in that game plays for thousands of dollars.
