  1. This stupid game. I'm buying these coolfaced games on sale, but I just end up playing dota2 anyway.
  2. Na'VI has won every major dota2 tournament so far. The Chinese teams will be able to challenge Na'VI during the International 2 though, which is good. It's sad for dota2 as an e-sports that the Americans are so bad at it. EG and clg will probably get beaten out pretty fast in the International 2. It is actually quite funny to watch Na'VI play versus a team like mTw. Synderen is an amazing captain, and he makes such good decisions but his team lacks in execution and "skill" sometimes. Na'VI make stupid decisions all the time but executes them perfectly, so they often win the engagement anyway. Also Dendi has quite a following, and his own meme: http://www.teamliqui...topic_id=315942
  3. Steam Summer Sale 2012

Counter-point: It's not possible to make a game good enough to make me deal with GFW.
  4. Steam Summer Sale 2012

ah, well. Not buying that then.
  5. Steam Summer Sale 2012

Batman is on sale. Does it require windows live log in to play single player?
  6. Gaming headphones

I have those too, and I am very happy with them. *G4ME bro fist bump*
  7. http://www.joindota....en/live/tobiwan Starladder finals going on over here today for anyone interested in watching some good managers manage their Lords. I think there are only east european teams left as mouz lost a semi-final earlier today. http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/SLTV_StarSeries_Season_Two Tournament info here. I really wish the dota2wiki would be as good as TeamLiquids wiki as far as e-sports goes.
  8. Beastmaster is good because he can clear out trees to give vision and use his bird for even more vision. You can't get the jump on a good Beastmaster without buying smoke. The 4 second stun from his ultimate ignores magic immunity like BKB, and also has a relatively low cooldown (70 seconds, 45 with aganims). His axes also lets him get some last hits and harass from far away. He can also use axes to stack ancients without leaving the lane. His late game comes from his passive, ult and scouting. The passive will give the carry on his team an edge versus the enemy carry, thus may win him some late games. His passive will in addition buff allied creeps which is very useful together with heroes like Enigma, Chen and Enchantress. Beastmaster is a tier 3 pick, meaning he is a situational counter-pick or a team-specific pick. He requires some level of micro and very good map awareness to be played well which is why he rarely wins in matchmaking. A guy at Eurogamer and his friends are trying to become a better Lord managers and there is a story being written about it: http://www.eurogamer...rience-part-one
  9. Treant is boring, and those statistics don't really say anything about how good the heroes are. The stats are based on public matchmaking. Since there are no ratings available you can't weed out the low tier games from the high tier games. The stats are pretty worthless outside of stating facts we already know about how the average dota player plays. (Some hints: they don't know how to farm, they don't know how to buy stat items, they don't know how to ward, they don't know how to counter invis heroes and they don't know how to buy teleport scrolls). The charts found here are a bit more interesting (the newer heroes aren't available there yet): http://stats.dota2.be/stats/heroes/ This is even better: http://dev.dota2.com...ead.php?t=33593 how does a heroes win percentage change with length of the match?
  10. Pushers I can think of right now: Leshrac, Death Prophet, Dark Seer, Lone Druid, Beastmaster, Broodmother, Chen, Enchantress, Venomancer, Necrolyte, Nature's Prophet, Tinker, Enigma, Pugna, Lycan, Shadow Shaman. Must have items for pushing: Arcane Boots (multiple ones), Urn of shadows, Mekanasm, ring of basilus or ring of aquila, Wards. Leshrac and Lycan are my favorite heroes because they are able to force multiple teleports on a tower. If a single hero ports to a tower to defend vs Lycan or Leshrac they will most likely die, so the enemy team needs to port in in pairs or in threes. This allows your team to safely 4 man push a different tower since they now have 2-3 heroes with no teleport. You probably don't need to pick 5 push heroes, if you pick a few push heroes and some stunners and semi-carries you will have an amazing team. Getting towers doesn't only mean gold, it means their lanes and jungle is less safe for them to farm in. Pushing is a good way to win in pub games, most pubs pick stupid hard carry heroes that are good at 30minutes+ in the game and total garbage earlier, so if you finish the game in 20minutes it's going to be a cakewalk.
  11. There is no high-priority matchmaking (it is a myth). If there were that would be pretty dumb considering there are assholes with thousands of commends because of spamming the chat channels for them, and getting reporting does not make you lose commendations. Hopefully the commendation/reporting system is still WIP because at the moment it isn't very effective. Commendations at the moment does not actually do anything at all, which is probably why that high-priority matchmaking myth poped up. Phantom lancer isn't one of those heroes you can get good at and win games. Phantom lancer is good with/against certain heroes, but is completely worthless with/against others. Max out Q and W first, the passive is pretty useless early on. Same goes for the ultimate, only get it at level 10+ OR if you need the magic resistance to stay in lane. Build agility items since illusions gain the agility from items as well. http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/Illusions see this list for what effects illusions can use. I usually get vanguard, diffusal blade and butterfly on PL. Radiance is only good if you spread your illusions around the map to farm since the aura doesn't stack.
  12. Learn the basics of the game before jumping into a few solo practice games. Yes, no, maybe. Knowing what you are doing wrong is relevant the 9 other Lords, which is the main problem I have with this advice. Dota isn't really about being good at one Lord. It is about being good at all Lords and items, and using your knowledge to make good decisions. It is hard to learn the strength and weaknesses of a Lord without playing him/her yourself a few times. Dota2 also has replays, which is really nice for players who want to learn the game. Dota looks very simple, but is in fact one of the most complicated games there is (and a lot of the mechanics don't make any sense at all).
  13. Phantom lancer is actually a pretty good hero in some situations. You need dust to gank him, and once he gets a vanguard and some agility he is extremely hard to kill and can push down towers really fast. Batrider is pretty good as well. Most people don't really realize how annoying his tar ability is. Not only does it make you run slower, it also makes your hero turn slower. Batriders main problem is he needs a vanguard and a blink dagger before he is useful, and most likely also a BKB.
  14. DOTA 2

I found a crazy hat for axe. Check out the Steam workshop for dota2 also. There are some crazy and weird things there now. Including very scantily clad female invoker so beware if you are at work or something I guess.
  15. Steam workshop integration is pretty cool. People can create their own hats and thingymajigs if they wish. Valve..!!
  16. Hitman: Absolution

This is the problem with this trailer, and the countless of game trailers like it. It is trying to sell a game to people who doesn't like Hitman games, while the people who actually like Hitman games are going "What in the hell. Guess I'm not buying this Hitman game after all".

  18. Gifts - Stuff for Free

Still got a CS:GO key? I came here to post that, I too, have a copy of torchlight.
  19. G4ming Keyb0rdz

Surprisingly good, it's just as good as Logitech keyboards at least, just missing those silly macro keys and useless back lighting. Lasted me a year so far. Which did you get?
  20. G4ming Keyb0rdz

I just walk into clas ohlson (a cheap swedish hardware store), and buy the white box that says KEYBOARD on it in black letters.
  21. Torchlight II

The combat in Diablo 3 is very intense/violent compared to Torchlight 2. D3 is very dark and grim where T2 is more cartoony and humorous. It's a lot easier to completely ignore the story in Torchlight 2, which is why I'll be playing that instead of Diablo 3. Outlander has a bar which gives increased attack speed and cast speed based on how full it is. If it is empty the first attack stuns and deals many damage. Can't remember what the resource is called right now. Basically it just makes you more powerful if you stay in combat. Keep those pistols pumpin'.
  22. DOTA 2

People who don't have a tp scroll on them at all times are really awful and deserve to get stuck. http://www.own3d.tv/NatusVincere#/watch/625197 Na'Vi Dendi doing some commentating on two games they played. Pretty interesting, and funny.
  23. DOTA 2

Copying Dendi's builds is a recipe for disaster. It's hard for us mere mortals to tell if he is just trolling or just going balls to the walls. He won a tournament game once by building a crystalys on earth shaker.
