  1. Mass Effect 2

I was thinking about something the other day, if you chose Liara as your love interest in ME1 (maybe Ashley and Kaidan too, not sure) then won't you potentially have 2 old love interests in ME3 (from ME1 and 2)? This then got me thinking, what if I DON'T choose a love interest in ME2, I wonder if the one I chose in ME1 will come back in ME3.
  2. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

This game also deals with camping in a fairly good way by just letting you destroy whatever cover he was hiding behind.
  3. Mass Effect 2

It's funny how the exact same situation with two different characters worked/didn't work with me. I had kept pretty clear of spoilers mostly from lack of interest, so I didn't know a lot about the characters that would be in the game. I knew that would be coming back and I knew about Subject Zero from the trailer and from the Thumbs, but it was really weird when I encountered these characters in the game. Doing the Archangel quest to get the character I kept thinking it was because it sounded like what I had heard and seen about him. But then going through the mission I talked to the Krogan guy who had fought him face to face and he revealed Archangel was and at first I thought it was just some kind of paranoia thing where he was just making it up. Then suddenly I remembered and everything clicked. Subject Zero was the complete opposite since the mission has you hunting . So when I finally get to the big reveal and it's Subject Zero, my excitement for finding a new character was completely crushed. Side Note: Anyone else disappointed in Samara's ridiculous fake-boob-revealing dress? I was excited to get her until I saw what she was wearing. Come on Bioware, stop putting this crap in your games.
  4. Disablities and Input Obstructions with Games

At the risk of making this thread about controllers, I have to agree, but I actually have more problem using the 360 controller for long periods of time. It causes my ring and pinky fingers on my left hand to start aching at the knuckle. I have fairly big hands and long fingers, so there isn't really any controller outside of the Gamecube controller that feels all that great. I wish they made them fuller and a little wider. Also, your post doesn't have a lot of context. Even going back and reading the Last Guardian thread, I'm not quite sure what your affliction is (what's RSI?). Also, I'm sure someone can post a link to the video of Gabe Newell giving a presentation to deaf gamers and getting feedback from them. It's really interesting in respect to how they play games, but also as far as game design goes to portray narrative or character visually like good actors do. They bring up Alyx Vance from HL2 as one of their favorites since she's very expressive and this is what defines her even for non-deaf gamers.
  5. Mass Effect 2

I just started playing last night, so I'm not super far in but I have a couple gripes with the story so far:
  6. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

I haven't played any other Battlefield games besides 1943, but it does, like 1943 and BC1, have destructible environments. I think it uses the same engine that Red Faction Guerilla did. It's amazing how much fun this makes the game as I'm always making doors in buildings with my grenade launchers, surprising the enemy team trying to defend or plant the bomb. One thing I'm really annoyed by is that the Repair Tool can overheat, which sucks. It didn't in 1943 or in the PS3 beta, did it in the original Bad Company?
  7. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Eh, I wouldn't count on that. DICE can barely keep the servers up for 1943 6 months after release. They might be moving those over to prepare for BC2 though. I did get a match or two in earlier on the 360, so it's working if you're persistent enough. It's a different level than what the PS3 beta was, but oh man is it better. So many vehicles. A problem I have is the goofy control scheme they're trying to push. I just reverted mine to 'Bad Company 1' in the settings because I really liked the 1943 controls. Also it's kinda hard to spot people out sometimes, it definitely suffers from that next-gen everything-being-the-same-color. Pro-tips that people might not realize if they haven't played Battlefield before or the PS3 beta: Hit 'Back' or 'Select' to tag an enemy you have your sights over. This points him out to your team so they can kill him if you can't. It also allows snipers/UAVs to serve as actual recon units. When someone shows up in a vehicle and is tearing up your base, jump on one of the stationary guided rocket launchers. They typically take 1-2 shots to kill something big. Always spawn in a squad. Always. This allows you to spawn in the frontlines and means someone might spawn on you to give you back up or jump on the machine gun turret in your vehicle or jump out and repair you.
  8. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Those sneaky bastards... http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/62132 In summary: the 360 multiplayer demo is out for Gold members, PS3 on the 4th in Europe, 11th in NA, and the PC Beta starts today. I'm pleasantly surprised they launched this early (the demo was expected next week) and I can't wait until it finishes download. Download is around 1.5 gigs. Edit: Also, the servers are down because it's DICE, and they will always be down anytime something gets released from these guys. Doesn't bode well for the actual release.
  9. Mass Effect 2

On the one hand that would be awesome. On the other, I, like many many other people, am playing back through the first one to get a character that I want to transfer.
  10. Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Are there any ways of getting into the PC beta other than preordering? I preordered the 360 version yesterday but the guy had no idea that there even WAS a PC beta. I got a code from Gamespot for the PS3 version and it was pretty awesome, so if you can get ahold of a code, I encourage you to do so.
  11. Mass Effect 2

I love it when they ship it past your house several times. I'm torn on whether or not to play through ME1 and then move on to ME2 with my good character, or just start ME2 with my evil character tomorrow when I pick the game up.
  12. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

Gamertag is Squid Division Anybody possibly up for some early level Borderlands? Like level 10 or so

  14. Mass Effect 2

Ahh, thanks. Man, I wasn't really all that excited about the game, but I watched some of the class videos and I'm starting to get hyped. The game looks like a huge improvement. The hud (not sure how touchy people are about UI changes) I'm going to get the game, so I figured I might as well preorder it and get all the extra crap. Problem is, the only place around here to do that is Gamestop, and that means endorsing those stupid-ass toilet commercials. Anybody else having a really hard time deciding what class they're going to be? The changes to the non-Soldier ones sound awesome, but so does the soldier.
  15. Mass Effect 2

Any idea what's going to happen if you have 2 complete play-throughs? I finished the game a long time ago as an evil character, but I'm replaying the same guy on a second play through as good. Will it just choose the latest one to import (the good one) or give you an option to import either/or. Also, was there any indication that you could import what choices you had made if you hadn't finished the first game but got through a chunk of it?
  16. Mass Effect 2

From what I've heard it's like KOTOR2 where you talk to people and they'll correct you if you say something wrong.
  17. (IGN.com)

Actual PC Gamer one (first noticed it for the Med. II Steam sale): Medieval II will blow you away. I like the fact that it's punctuated with a period, like it's just a statement of fact that shouldn't surprise anyone.
  18. Red Faction: Guerilla

For the GFWL patch not working, Steam supposedly patched the game on the 14th so the GFWL patch will install correctly. If it won't, they suggest verifying the integrity of the game cache (Right click on the game in steam>Properties>Local Files). If it still won't, I found a topic in the Steam forums where the guy just posted a link to the patch files he himself put up, they worked for me and I didn't get any viruses or anything. As for the game itself, I really wish my USB wireless receiver for my xbox controller hadn't quit out on me, this game seems like it's much more suited for a controller.
