This weekend King's Bounty Gold is on impulse for $15 (down from $45) which includes both games.

New multiplayer trailer up: _1swIZpWqQQ& Looks great as usual. Actually looks a lot like Lead and Gold. Now we know how Red Eye will work in multiplayer.

The last list I posted was for a second game since there were more than 12. I had been keeping the other list so I figured I'd go ahead and help people out and keep up the second one too.

Well apparently the MW2 rerelease is ready. I'm all over this, but I'll need to find my joystick.

haha incredible. Them being a beach resort was unexpected and awesome. -
01) Jhriad 02) DIUM 03) Nicholololas 04) Marek 05) dibs 06) bd_monkey (?) 07) Reikon 08) Thunderpeel 09) Murdoc Almost a 10 person game and not far from a 12 person game. Also jesus christ my position sucks. I might be up for a spot in the second game if it needs more people as I might be quickly out of this one. (Remember if you take my territory, you have to hold it from everyone else, which you won't because you'll be weakened from attacking.)

I saw this at Rock, Paper, Shotgun and I figured there'd be some interested people here. It's Sid participating in and judging a 48 hour game design challenge. I find it interesting that there seemed to be a lot of emphasis on bugs as opposed to the concept of the game. But I suppose it was a challenge designed around the completion of a game, not just the implementation of the idea.

Are there any 'complete' type mods for this game? Like the ones that got made for STALKER or the recent Fallout 2 one? I'm thinking of starting the first game, but I've never gotten around to it. Some higher res textures might do that.

I wonder how much an actual dog would freak the fuck out at one of those things. If my dog being scared shitless of a vacuum is any indication, a lot. -

Dreamcast: Last night I had a dream that Hermie came on the forums and said he had a dream about the sniper from TF2 riding a Big Dog and then posted a photoshop of it. I was very tired last night. -
nah let's just let it start whenever, since I think it starts automatically when the last person joins, yes? Let's not worry about the universal starting time, but try to keep it in a time period that's generally good for Europe and NA.

Sid Meier and the Game Design Challenge
Squid Division replied to Squid Division's topic in Video Gaming
It's not super clear from the video but several of the games took the theme very literally, like the winning one (what mechanical restraints were there?). -
That's absolutely true, but that timing changes with distance to stars and upgrading technologies. The money comes in every day at the same time however. I'm not really arguing for or against anything, just explaining my rationale, and I could easily see the asynchronous nature of the messaging lending itself pretty well.

Alright that's everyone except Boris Stoke. Do we want to start the game at a time everyone can be on? From my understanding the money goes on a 24 hour cycle, so it'd be convenient to have everyone on at the same time for tech trading (which costs money) and diplomacy. If the game goes up on Thursday, I'd propose 1930 GMT (I have class until 1900 so it gives me time to get home). I'm not sure if there's a way to launch the game at a certain time in the private matches. What times work for you?

I tend to channel mine on Steam and Xbox into smaller (cheaper) games. Sadly, I usually derive more entertainment and less frustration out of my $10-15 games than I do out of my $60 games. For example, 1943 might well be my game of the year for 2009 as I played it the most and probably had the most fun with it. This allows me to buy 5 or 6 games for the price of 1 'full' game.

From what I understand, women can pee too.

So, these are the people that have confirmed interested in the game: 01) Joflar 02) Squid Division 03) Wursti 04) Sombre 05) Jennoa 06) dpp 07) JamesM 08) Irish John 09) Toblix 10) Murdoc 11) excuberance 12) JamesM --- 13) Boris Stoke 14) Jhriad 15) DIUM Should people maybe confirm/refute their interest in playing so we get a clear, for-certain picture? I'm definitely still up for it. Medium game sounds good.

I too heartily recommend Justified. It's basically a western set in modern Kentucky. It's not absolutely amazing or anything, but the characters are good and the actors are great. It's the only show I've ever actually watched weekly on TV since I was about 14.

I think Vanaman should become a permanent, or at the very least, far more regular cast member. -

Squid Division replied to Forbin's topic in Video Gaming
I'd probably have to agree with the definition of art as something that expresses an idea. In that case I believe many video games do and don't qualify as art under that. But at the same time another piece of art doesn't necessarily have to express an idea, but simply originally tell its story (a super basic and nebulous story but told with incredible language for an example). And in this case I think that a game's mechanics can qualify it as art. -
I can't tell if I like the no mobile support or not. I would certainly use it should there be an iPhone app, but I kinda like the nervousness of, shit I need to get back and move my fleets around. Also, I LOVE the fact that the diplomacy system is just a message/inbox system. After so many other 4X games, the simplicity was just kind of stunning when I realize that's all it was. The game seems to be a WWI simulator for me. Build-up, border tension with backroom dealings and alliances, and the defender always having the advantage.
