  1. Well..I bought a copy of Last Express for $20 off ebay. I love the WWI era of history and the screenshots look amazing. With that and all the love on the podcast I have high hopes. (hopefully it'll run)
  2. General Video Game Deals Thread

Sam and Max Season 3 on sale for $20 here. Sam and Max complete set for $40 here. From Telltale's Twitter: Source Nothing but good things to say about the third season, seriously, get it.
  3. I completely agree. But it's frustrating when the actual game mechanics just don't work at all for you and you don't feel like you can progress because the puzzle logic doesn't click beyond 'combine everything with anything'. I did try out the first Broken Sword game and it was fun. I didn't finish it, but its real-world setting made the combinations more intuitive. Alternatively, I love the new Sam and Max season, so who knows.
  4. Life

Colorado was awesome, and he roads were absolutely insane. Fortunately they were also fun on the motorcycle. 2250 miles in 7 days, from 890 feet above sealevel, to 11,000. We also rode this road (not us, but the same road): yJtG-cnrvHw&feature=related From this: to this: My month-long cross-country trip starts in a week. What should I be sure to check out in the western half of the US? (if you're curious for more pictures, they're here: http://mjrobe.wordpress.com/ )
  5. Scott Pilgrim [video game]

Holy crap, I just dropped into the last few pages here to see what people thought of the game. I'll quietly back away now.
  6. I take it back, the only LucasArts adventure game I've played is the first Monkey Island remake, and I wasn't a huge fan. My problem was that a lot of the time the point and click puzzle combinations were really unintuitive as a result of the weird humor. Best example I can think of was the pot for a helmet. I didn't feel like the game established a theme or anything for its wacky puzzles so I didn't think to look for something like that. Also, in the remake it was flattened into the background so I just presumed it WAS part of the background Contrast that with the latest season of Sam and Max where the puzzles are still kind of weird, but the game does a good job of fleshing out its universe BEFOREHAND that the logic comes naturally. I'd still love to find and play through Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and Last Express especially.
  7. I haven't either, but I played a little TIE Fighter back in the day. My brother didn't get them so I didn't play them.

    Out of curiosity, what?
  9. Michigan: Report from Hell

Unless payment is an issue (which I don't think it would be, because ebay would probably do the conversion for you) you could just get a thumb's address, buy it yourself and ship it to their address.
  10. Life

Tomorrow myself, my brother, and my dad will begin our 2000 mile, 5 day, cross-Kansas, around-Colorado, and back motorcycle trip. I'm real excited, especially as it's a precursor to my month-long cross country motorcycle trip in September. I'll be sure to post some good pictures.
  11. BioShock 2

What the fuck is that thing?! I need to get around and finish the base game. I only got a few levels in but the gameplay was different and felt improved over Bioshock. Too many good games this year.
  12. Torchlight 2

Unlike Torchlight, I'm going to buy this on release day. I was never into Diablo-like games, but Torchlight clicked.
  13. Jeff Goldblum on Top Gear

Also, MAN Tom Cruise was intense. No idea how much coke he snorted before he went on, but it had to have been measured in pounds.

I liked pretty much everything about Assassin's Creed II except the ending. I didn't think it was super bad, I just thought it was kind of dumb. I did appreciate that they pull you out of the game way less in the second than they did the first. Just when I'd get a good groove going they'd pull me out to start talking about a bunch of crap I didn't care about. That's why I don't like the sci fi stuff, it's not that it's bad (it's not good) but it's so uninspired and boring and has nothing to do with the actual game I play that it just gets in the way.
  15. Mass Effect 2

I heard that the Katsumi stuff was pretty good too. I agree with JonCole, it's irritating to play out of the main sequence. It's not Fallout after all, it's not open world, so DLC is just kind of annoying. I wish they'd announce how many they were going to make like Bethesda did. That way I could just wait for the last one to come out and buy them all at once.

Might have to go into the steam files and find the .ESM or .ESP, whichever the offical ones are (the other is the mod file type) and make sure that's in your fallout3/data folder. That's the only thing I could think of.
  17. Jeff Goldblum on Top Gear

I was going to mention this but wasn't sure how Top Gear would play. Luckily someone cut it out of the episode.
  18. I would totally listen to a Telltale Podcast with Jake, Sean, and Princess Meatflaps. Or whoever else if she doesn't want to.

Have you done Point Lookout yet? It's so damn fun. Easily my favorite.
  20. Starcraft II

oops Guess that shows how much MP I've played yet. My number is 306
  21. Starcraft II

What's weird is that everyone I've seen posting about SCII on this and other sites talks about how awful they are (I definitely am). So is the community not as good as everyone perceives it as, or are there just more people willing to get their ass beat this time around? I have high hopes for the ladder system.
  22. Starcraft 2

I'm probably almost halfway through the single player, and it's...weird. I don't know if I just have nostalgia skewing my opinion of the original story, but I remember it being a lot better than this awful crap. Raynor sucks and reminds me a lot of the really annoying parts of RDR with Marston. Tychus (whose name, as a Classicist, makes me giggle as it should actually be pronounced 'Tuckus') is doing a full-on Fog-Horn Leg-Horn impression.* That said, the gameplay is still Starcraft. I just wish it'd let me get to the real Starcraft a little faster; with the full tree. It's annoying, but it lets me (as intended) get used to all the new units and their intricacies. --- Free trial is gone. I've still got 2 WoW ones and may have a second SCII one depending on whether or not my brother decides to take it. --- Damn Idle Thumbs ruining the way my mind works. On the back of the box it says 'You're going in'. I could only see the first two words and immediately supplied 'You're going to be blown away'. I then realized that was ridiculous and decided it was ACTUALLY going to say something like 'You're going to shit blood' or something else Ill Bleed-like. --- * For reference: -LCsiWL6gn0
  23. I got very little sleep last night, so in my grogginess, this is what I saw: Needless to say, I'm very awake now, and very confused.
  24. A Rudimentary Poll: PC or Consoles and your gaming background

In an effort to get this back on track.. By all means keep up the answers to the original question! I'm surprised people have taken such a liking to this thread. Side-thread Have the type of games you play changed? For me, kind of, but not really. I love Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, and I still like FPS. What's changed is that I play them on the PC sometimes. The only FPS that I can remember playing on the PC is the PC Gamer Demo for Jedi Knight II: Dark Forces (I think that's it). It was fun, but it was still kinda weird for me to use mouse/keyboard (if it even used a mouse). I'm still console centric when it comes to FPS, as they tend to be multiplayer games over other genres. This is undoubtedly due to the fact that I didn't grow into FPSs on the PC, so I'm not as attuned to the mouse and keyboard as I am to a controller. For singleplayer it's no problem, but for multiplayer it means I get consistently murderated. Other genres have also stayed the same; strategy, RPG, racing. But types of games within these genres have changed. I've gone for RTS to turn-based, JRPG to Western, and Mario Kart to Forza. The one that has changed is sports games. I used to be a BIG wrestling fan, so I was a BIG wrestling game fan. WWF Attitude and WWF No Mercy were some of my favorite games for N64. As the games got worse and my interest waned, those dropped off altogether. Eventually I gained an interest in American football and got a few Maddens. This culminated in my recent discovery of hockey; and thus NHL09.
