I agree with Jon. The game isn't very hard for me. I have well over 300 hours in FO3 so I went Hard/Hardcore, and it isn't very noticeable. If the save system wasn't broken (autosave doesn't work if you quit out of the game) it'd be even easier. I'd almost recommend you don't play on hardcore. The only thing that has any effect is the stimpacks not healing instantly, and that's just annoying. Still, I'll finish it to get the stupid achievement since I want them all. Also, want to gate the early portion of a game? Easy! Just fill the area around your starting position with !

The toggleEmotions thing disables achievements I believe. I think doing any console command does. At least that's what I heard.

Is there a I'm seven and a half hours in and haven't found one. No crash yet, but still sputtering badly. There was a thing on the steam forums about turning all the water graphical settings to the lowest to fix it, but it didn't work for me.

Yeah I've got nvidia and it's weird. Really stuttery in the wastes, but no problem in doors. I read somewhere it was an issue with the engine constantly loading off the hard drive. FO3 was like this too, so I'm not holding out hope.

God, FO3 for the 360 locked up more often than that. God that game was buggy at launch. Having gone through Empire Total War at launch, I have high standards before I call a game broken. That game set the fucking standard for broken.

Playing with a gamepad on PC because I have bad joints in my hands so it's more comfortable: Odd decision to make the first 3 enemies in the game the hardest ones to hit outside of VATS. Geckos, Bloatflies, and small Radscorpions are all fast and erratic and damn near impossible to hit outside of VATS, which at the beginning of the game when ammo is valuable and VATS doesn't go very far.....

I played the demo, and I predictably wasn't too impressed with the gameplay. I immediately thought how generic the main character was, then by the end of the demo I really liked them both. It's weird how good acting can make totally generic characters interesting and likable in games.

I recently switched to the Painterly texture pack. Not sure if I like it or not.

Stumbled upon this thing. It's above cloud cover and there are several valleys and other mountains like it around it. I thought it might have been somebody's but it's all smooth stone so it's all natural.

Agreed. For me it's not even so much for obsidian but being able to eat through stone and dirt with diamond tools.

Yeah I want a massive town square, just open and uncluttered. Maybe with big collaborative construction (with all the community chests) wherever you face when you spawn? I think I'll go ahead and build that Big Bird sphinx somewhere (not in the center of town).

I watched A Serious Man this weekend. A really good movie, as most all the Coen Brothers movies are. The Coens are masters at making the audience feel what they're supposed to, which is almost always 'what the fuck just happened?'. It's basically The Book in movie form.

Chris: I presume the other McCarthy you read was The Road. If not, read that next. Otherwise, I'd suggest All the Pretty Horses or Blood Meridian. Blood Meridian is significantly tougher, but an amazingly gothic work. However, ATPH is REALLY good and gets downplayed a lot because of how deceptively straightforward it is.

Gah I was just randomly charged 147GBP by 'Communication Group' through PayPal.
