Mein Thumbcraft—IdleT Dedicated Minecraft Server
Squid Division replied to MrHoatzin's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I'd feel more inclination to play if there were more people on. I still think we should put something up on the front page/twitter like Jake put forth. -
Granted I'm only 2 levels in, but it feels like there's not many complicated systems, but one very deep one.

I have a few complaints, but it seems they're patching the hell out of it and quickly. My biggest complaint that I can remember is the small elemental symbols under the spell and no mouse over for the list in the pause menu. I feel like the game will be at its best in about a week or so.

Have you ever played a game based on a franchise you don't really know?

To add a second question to the thread: Has playing the game made you more interested/seek out the original media? Metro 2033's announcement made me interested in the book, but it wasn't available in the US at the time (no idea if it is now or not). Sam and Max hasn't ever made me more interested to go back to the original game or comics, as I'm sure they're different in subtle, but significant, ways from the Sam and Max I know and have played. Witcher is based on something? Never knew that. -
Nevermind, I got it fixed, the center mouse was bound to document flip, then in an attempt to fix it I apparently turned it off. Game's fun, but kind of hard to keep track of all the spell combinations/weird controls.

I tried playing this game, but couldn't get past the tutorial because it wanted me to use the middle mouse button, which never worked, and I couldn't rebind. I was kind of interested, but apparently I don't get to play.

Do Metro 2033 or Sam and Max count? It doesn't feel like quite the same thing. -
If there will be spears/pikes/polearms in the game I'll get it. Not near enough games have those.
-
I like the way you think. Or better yet, a game of Tag.

Damn, client update, gonna have to rollback to 1.1 again. And minecraft.net is down. So much for that. -

I might have to get on tonight to start a serious mine. I'm gonna need A LOT of cobble for the Pantheon and all the pavers. -
Other than price, is there any reason to buy it on PC if you have both a PS3 and PC? I do, and the idea of being able to play coop with someone else in the room, one on PC one on PS3 is pretty awesome. To answer my own question; preorder bonuses and price I guess.

I wasn't really interested in the game, but if they can pull off what that they claim that engine can do, I'm sold.

Apparently the bukkit guys were going to do one last hmod update since they aren't ready yet. Problem is, the code has changed too much and they had to bail on it to focus on bukkit. Guess we have to wait. Hope it's not long. -

So does all of this actually work? Edit: From what I'm hearing it does. Can't wait to get on the server and try out lots of new block colors and types. It might be a big enough update to get more people back on. Definitely gonna have to build a squid refuge to protect them from you asshole poachers. Now to fit them with saddles and make a mounted squid division.... -
I hope it's not just present day. Unless it's somewhere cool, present day, that is.

You take the little code after the V= So for your video you'd copy paste '6x2c0NKbNxo' and put just that into the text field.

I wish stores would pack in download codes with the books like Steamworks games do. For instance, Borders would pack in Kindle codes (since they're owned by Amazon) and Barnes in Noble would pack in their own codes for the Nook. Unfortunately it's probably all up to the discretion of the publishers, so that is unlikely to ever happen on a store-wide level.

I've played a little bit of this since beating it and my feelings have been solidified in preferring ACII's settings better. Rome may be a more varied setting than any of the cities in II, but it's less distinctive than them; it's more of a compilation. The only thing that felt different about Rome was the ruins. Whereas with Florence, you had a sprawling, short, tan colored city. Venice was a tall, sprawling, colorful city. Forli was a escalating city, culminating in those huge towers. This sounds like nitpicking, but for me Assassin's Creed is all about the movement. Movement in Florence was rooftop with little consequence for falling, and street-running. In Venice it was careful and harrowing jumps over canals. Movement in Rome wasn't very distinctive in anyway except the ruins-plains, which were annoying because with all the fences and cliffs it took forever to traverse.

Extra Lives, right? I actually just finished this book. It's...interesting. He brings up some good points on games and rehashes some common ones. I'm really not sure who that book was written for; it seems like he explains too much for people who have played those games and not enough for those who haven't. Also the ending was kinda weird and out of nowhere.
