  1. Nintendo 3DS

Yeah I got stuck on the same part. I agree on short games. I made a spreadsheet of all the games I'm actually interested in starting and finishing, then looked up how long they'd probably take, and just started going through the shortest ones. Problem is, there aren't very many that are less than 10 hours, which is kind of ridiculous.

My 2-2 Crystal Lizard Deaths: (Forgot about the kick replacement and was spamming buttons) Fucking trap!
  3. Any baseball fans out there?

My family is from Kansas, I grew up in DC, and I live in Seattle, so let me tell you about mediocre baseball! On the bright side, I've gotten more interested in baseball as it's headed more towards defense and away from the homerun races.
  4. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

GUH, might be close to putting down DeS for a while. The poorly designed parts are really getting on my nerves, while the super tough boss fights are insurmountable for the moment as I can't summon anyone. Currently stuck on the Maneaters, and I'm not really looking forward to any of the X-3 bosses either. I really don't like boss fights. I put up with them in DS because they were interesting, and grew to like them in the later half because they had interesting lore (and I was probably way over leveled for them). Meanwhile, in DeS they don't really have any background and just feel perfunctory. I'll probably come back after I finish DSII.

    Everyone knows about Babymetal right?
  6. Nintendo 3DS

I beat Starship Damrey last night as well. I disagree about the robot selection screen. I think it fits in with that whole first section in the sleep pod, it helps set the tone of the status of the ship. I do agree about the cutscenes though. Unfortunately I only got 19/20 leeches, so I didn't unlock the last profile. Quick post-game spoiler question though: Overall, I'd say it's definitely worth picking up. It's a great 3 hours and really showcases what a decent writer can do with a confined space and limited interaction.
  7. College basketball

My family's from Syracuse so I know exactly what you're talking about. I don't think the Shockers could be KU, but I really don't want to find out. I'm still hoping KU can somehow sneak in and get a 1 seed.
  8. Nintendo 3DS

Finished up Friday Monsters. What a weird little game. My one criticism of it is that the game feeds the player some info on what's really happening, but then the other information comes through the lens of Sohta, so I was kind of confused as to what was actually going on in some moments because of what the game was feeding me vs. what Sohta was. That's obviously a central theme of the game, but the way it's handled with the game sending me short snippets, vs lengthy sections before Sohta figures it out is a little unnecessarily confusing. I'd have preferred it ALL been through Sohta's perspective.
  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Definitely noticed this as I'm using a claymore. A lot of the environments are literally claustrophobic, whereas in DS they used a lot of different stuff to evoke the feeling of claustrophobia. The distinction is important because it meant that I've died a couple times in the tunnels of 2-2 because my camera gets stuck in, or bounces off the roof. Whereas Tomb of the Giants was terrifying because, even with a lantern, you can see at most about 5 feet around you, but this doesn't affect your physical ability to play the game.
  10. College basketball

Hell yeah, another KU fan. But we're both from Kansas so it makes sense. It also makes me very happy that the Shockers are doing well too, as I've been kind of following them since they won the NIT a couple years ago. It's weird for KU to be the 2nd best team in Kansas. Also, a town of 4000 people? Pfft, that's a metropolis for Western Kansas!
  11. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I've been playing through DeS in order (with a brief detour to grab the Crescent Falchion because I needed a magic weapon). So I've done the first two levels of the first three areas. Currently working on the 3-2 boss to finish that area. That boss seems like it's going to take a while to beat. It took forever for me to beat the 2-2 boss too (but I had died as human a bunch of times to it, so it probably pushed the World Tendency black, which makes it harder(?)). Coming in, I thought that this game would just be Dark Souls, but different. I'm surprised by how much worse it actually is. The quality of the level design is night and day. They fixed so much stuff in Dark Souls. It's still a fantastic game, though.
  12. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

Took me a bit to figure out what game that was. I was REALLY confused for a second.
  13. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

Ocarina of TIme, Majora's Mask, Mario 64, Shadows of the Empire, Episode I: Podracer, Starfox64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, Rogue Squadron, Smash Bros., WWF Attitude, Wresltemania 2000, No Mercy, Mario Golf, Paper Mario, Jet Force Jemini? Other people would probably put the Banjo games on there too.
  14. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

They just feel like they're trying really hard to be 90s cool in the same way that Sonic was trying. The new one doesn't look like it's trying to be the same way, but it looks exactly like Country, so it still evokes it in my mind.
  15. I Can't Go For That (Game Series)

Definitely agree with this. Something about them makes me think they're old Sega games or something.
  16. Next Car Game

This game looks great, and I'm definitely going to get it once it gets a little further down the line. Once they get the multiplayer implemented, we'll have to get back to old Forza-like shenanigans.
  17. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Nah the game speeds up quite a bit once you get to the Lords. You start getting a bit over-powered, and competent enough as a player that it's not the challenge the first half of the game is.
  18. Bioshock Finite: Irrational Games shuts down

On the bright side, I bet those people are going to go on and create some awesome games of their own.
  19. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

I don't know, I watch a lot of Immortal videos when I'm bored. They, and the bands youtube links to off their videos, have zero ounces of self awareness. I give no benefit of the doubt when it comes to black metal.
  20. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Yeah black metal fans are notoriously not self aware. This is the original video (I'm a big metalhead, but this shit is fucking awful): Also, they're called Black Satans and the song is called The Satans of Hell?! That's my first hint at lack of self awareness.
  21. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

It's almost too easy, but it doesn't matter.
  22. Unity Tutorials

I used the Walker Bros. tutorial. It's slow going. But thorough.
