This is the thread we three convince everyone else to get bikes.

Sorry, I wasn't really suggesting we play the Napoleonic pack, merely stating that it is fun and that people should check it out. Its very reminiscent of a source mod called Battlegrounds, only better. I'll probably be playing it at night for the next couple weeks if people are interested in joining.

Just got the game and the Napoleonic Expansion Pack is a lot of fun for sure.

hm, is it the 'bikes-and-awesome-friends rule' or the 'bikes, and awesome-friends-rule'? -
Would something that length (about 500 pages) be open for the bookcast, or are you guys aiming shorter? Also, would you ever do an episode on a book none of the three of you has read before?

I agree. I just finished Jacob de Zoet tonight and it was great, but pales in comparison to Cloud Atlas. Do you recommend Ghostwritten?

Are you sure you're using the 64bit version of Java? That fixed my memory problems. -

Yes yes yes. Maybe have each person claim a decent sized plot of land that they won't feel TOO constrained by, but is adjacent, or enough-space-for-a-walkway away. 20x20? 40x40? -

Wow that was an awesome video. The thing about survival is that it lends to more consolidated communities - and I'm all about higher building density instead of being spread out over continents. -
Sins of a Solar Empire (Trinity/Diplomacy)

I may be interested, as I've been playing the Rebellion beta the last few weeks, but I've never done a competitive game of Sins. I've only ever done coop ones. UK time would pretty much limit me to the weekends, since I get home from work by the time Europe is asleep. -

I'd definitely be up for finding a server of some sort, and I think The Killstar would too. -
Is anyone else going? It'd be a prime opportunity for a meet-up.

Just to check again, and torture those who aren't here, any thumbs in Boston?

Just finished it and it was great. Being that I love that style of art, this might be my favorite looking game ever - style and fidelity. For some reason that pan up at the first hill in the game is like my favorite thing ever. They could not have made it clearer what you should be doing nor made it look any better.

Yeah that's basically what I've been doing. The Red Bear infantry, while dramatically more expensive than the other kind (White something) are that much better. In a play test, they were about as good as three of the other kind of line infantry. From What I can remember I've been using 3 Red Bear and 3 Spear Levy to support them, and a cavalry squadron. I still don't like how this game makes your general start costing more and basically forcing you out of the small funds matches - which I think are more fun.

Played a few 1v1 matches tonight as I'm much better at them than 2v2. Despite not being attuned to the Fall of the Samurai armies, I'm apparently better than most people. Multiplayer matches are incredibly stressful though and I can only manage a few at a time. Still, I think we're in first in our bracket for now.

I've spent a lot of time with the game at this point in singleplayer, but I'm still not very comfortable with the army make-ups. The weird combination of guns and melee seems to lead to extra weak units of both at highly inflated prices.
-
The 'official' one is here. We've done a few multiplayer games with Fall of the Samurai - most notably one where I won a naval battle by ramming about 4 enemy ships with my ironclad when it was our only ship left.

I don't understand how you can announce DLC at the same time you announce the game itself. That's just greed.
-
Do they do anything, like gather their own resources or make chests and fill them with stuff?

I always wanted really dense cities, but everyone always ran off immediately. That was my goal with the last epoch, but it didn't work there either.
