Sorry for an answer to something so old, but OH MY GOD KING OF THE DRAGON PASS. Seriously, if you like turn based strategy a la 90s you won't be disappointed.
  2. The Witcher

Nay, at the time Witcher was published the relevant books weren't even in English. That was just conscious decision not to dumb story down. btw: People, try playing it with original (Polish) voiceovers. I heard many good things from the people who did try this.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Don't get your hopes too high (especially if you've read the book).
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Yep, it's Solaris and Solyaris is just bad translation back from Russian title.
  5. It's so glorious that I almost feel bad for using Adblock.
  6. Actually, this gives me hope for the future. If I can't get any decent job after I graduate I might just go with this shit* and scam people. Hooray! *or GET RIPPED IN FOUR WEEKS, or become single mom and DISCOVER SECRET TO WHITE TEETH BTW: they have 22 thousand active members on their forums. They have a radio. Pardonné-moi, an Official Radio. I'm scared.
  7. Far Cry 2

Yep. I think I'm going to finish it again, this time on Infamous, I'm about 25% in.
  8. Books, books, books...

    ...HALP.
  9. Basically, ever since Ebony more and more similar browser games try exactly the same strategy. Over at GWJ we have a topic full of links to such stuff and quite regularly someone posts a new finding. This is my favourite.

"Two handjobs for under five bucks? That's a great deal in any economy" reminded me of this amazing Onion video: http://www.theonion.com/content/video/prison_economy_spirals_as_price
  11. Books, books, books...

Yes, yes and yes. Book is a whole different thing. It's a very intricate jewel of writing, where you've got themes ranging from Voltaire, through Conan Doyle to One Thousand and One Nights with religious debate, Aristotle and medieval setting overlayed on top of everything. (Like other Eco's books it's very postmodern in that aspect) Therefore it isn't surprising that movie didn't have too big ambition of being the book but just focused on the gust of the story and was very competent in that regard. But that's precisely why someone who did love the book might hate the adaptation. I didn't. I did enjoy both, although on entirely different levels. You should definitely read the book. @Chris: Did you read Baudolino? It's Nameoftheroseish in many aspects and I guess you're going to like it. I've read it back in high school and ever since I wanted to pick it up again. @vimes: Eco is Italian and from what I recall all his books are too.

  15. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw it a few days ago and I'm still unsure about whether it was good or just average. However, Tom Hardy was really, really good in that role. And since it's just about him, the whole movie is well worth watching.
  16. Samarost 2 in Russia!

Yeah, I know, but you had something like two years of Countdown to Boobs, while we got our boobs instantly. Mine were still hot when I bought 'em.
  17. So, how is everyone?

    Hooray for you?
  18. New PC: suggest me awesome games!

I'd recommend a Far Cry 2 Video game to play on your Personal Computer Entertainment System. Also, Anno 1404.
  19. Far Cry 2

I think there's something like four golden AK-47's to find and that's it.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw the Center of the World, Frost/Nixon and Shattered Glass over the Christmas. First one is a drama that reminds me of Closer. I ran into it by accident while skipping the channels at night and it was really captivating. It has quite low rating on imdb but I believe it's because inclusion of sensitive material, even though erotic scenes are done without usual accompanying goofiness. Also, if you're going to have a stripper/prostitute in your movie and it isn't something like 'Pretty Woman' (in fact movie is more of an antithesis of it) people are going to be unhappy. Frost/Nixon most of you have probably seen. I won't deny that it's a good movie but basic premise is quite flawed, as it offers quite distorted view of reality, at least from what Wikipedia tells me. But Langella as Nixon + Sheen, Rockwell and others make up for that. Shattered Glass is about 'the New Republic' journalist who... well, I don't want to spoil it. If you're going to watch it you will probably know what's going on but I didn't and quite enjoyed it. Although I concede that it might not appeal to everyone: in short it's just two hour film about journalism and ethics. Things to notice: Hayden Christiansen in performance that isn't shit. edit: If anyone has any recommendations for movies in similar vein to any of above three, I'd be happy to hear them.
  21. Samarost 2 in Russia!

No problem, if you ever need something shipped from this side of Europe (Witcher with boobs!) let me know.
  22. So, how is everyone?

Or he just camps on one of them idle servers so he can feel like playing video games without all the labor of actually playing them. Outsourcing is da bomb!
  23. Samarost 2 in Russia!

I live in Cracow so I figure there is a hope. However, I am too lazy to check if they fancy sending it to Poland, as I can't read cyrillic ;]
  24. Samarost 2 in Russia!

Did you check which Eastern European countries they can ship to?
