I was responding more to Ben's post which as I read it is ceding that monopoly to religious institutions. Marriage has to be legally protected for everyone. If we call it something else, then we're not talking about equality. edit: I think I had kind of a kneejerk response here, because I'm put off by waffling about alternate realities in which things are less screwed up. I'm more concerned with the furtherance of equality within the actual world as it exists now, and sooner rather than later. Sure, changing how "marriage" is defined and dealt with in a broad sense vis a vis state and church could be great, and I'm with you on the general sentiment, but it's irrelevant.

And separating it out like that is just placating bigots (who would themselves probably be offended by it); why would anyone want to do that? That whole conversation rubs me the wrong way. Basically I agree with Zeusthecat.

I think the idea of separating marriage as a religious thing from some other legal thing is fundamentally bogus, because there are gay people who want to get married. That's the term they use, and screw having to tell them "Well, I can offer you this sweet civil partnership, as for marriage, you'll have to take that up with a religious organization." That's not good. Wouldn't you feel like a jerk saying that? Gay marriage for everyone. Also, quoting this from user loquacius of the something awful forums:

I hope said mantling is accompanied by a similar amount of heavy breathing as in the older games. I was always afraid a guard would hear Garrett's gasping and choking.

Idle Thumbs 112: The Cast Of Us
Salacious Snake replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Hearing about how long The Last of Us is makes me less inclined to continue playing it at all. I tend to prefer economical storytelling aided by heavy duty editing; it's ok sometimes for a work to be lengthy, but it had better be something special. I'm routinely flabbergasted by how long stupid action movies are lately. What hack thinks he has more than 90 minutes worth of stuff to say about a guy who dresses up as a bat and fights crime? I get that it feels like burning a wheelbarrow full of money when you cut a relatively complete segment out of a game, but get over it, everyone. -

I appreciate the position that Hot Scoops and the rest of the team are taking with this very much. -
You can do the slow crouch walk right in front of a clicker with impunity. (By slow I mean just nudge the stick a little, don't go full crouching speed.) That annoys me, too. I find that I'm always consciously wondering where the next trigger point may be. It's a shitty thing, because that's not what I should be concentrating on. Whenever I go to open a door or something and a cutscene begins, it feels like I stepped on a land mine.

I hate to be one of those people who shits all over the new thing because it doesn't line up with the memory of the old, venerated thing, but fuck this game.

I added you. I think I've caught up and have everyone in the thread, although tegan and Squid something haven't added me back. I am a man shunned by his fellows. 2621-2620-2232

Idle Thumbs 111: Cruisin' for a Word that Rhymes With Cruisin'
Salacious Snake replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Good gravy, yes. -
Titanfall does look cool, but I think Sony's (hopefully lasting) commitment to indie shit will outweigh other considerations for me in the end.

I enjoyed not having to make a difficult decision! Now I'm paralyzed with anxiety again. I'll probably stick with the PS4, but, on the other hand, I'm a stupid person and kinda want the new Kinect for reasons unknown.
-
Haha, rad. edit: what a shit way to start a new page.

Oh man. Do you want a social-enhanced store browsing experience? Have I got the marketing video for you! (Courtesy of Mington in the PS4 thread) bonus "get in here and help me out in this multiplayer match" footage inside! -
That video is full of great reaction shots, but I think my favorite is his "I'm turning on a video game console" expression. He's like, "Yeah... heh."

Idle Thumbs is a viral marketing initiative for Metal Gear Solid V. -
Massive amounts of computing power are great and everything, but I just rolled back to older video drivers in my PC in an attempt to stop the chronic blue screen failures I've been experiencing. I hate PC gaming sometimes.

I have added every code in this thread so far, plus Sno from the other thread. 2621-2620-2232 I also just sneezed all over my 3DS.

On my way back out of NYC, and after two trips through Grand Central, farting around midtown and the East Village, and riding the G and the 7 this morning, I've got one pass from someone with no games in common. I'm looking forward to the streetpass contagion update.
-
I just got to the point in Animal Crossing when streetpassing is enabled, and I'm on a train to Grand Central Terminal. I expect to get some passes, but who knows if any of them will contain AC data? Wish me luck!
