I just canceled my Modern Warfare 2 pre-order, in light of recent events. I wasn't a fan of L4D, but I only play it one night. The lack of iron sight was the main put off for me. That and the lack of friends to play it with. Should I get this or wait for Bad Company 2 in March?

You can save yourself a bit of cash if you get XP SP3 or pirate 7, depending on your personal preferences. If you do pirate it - make sure you invest the saved bucks into the video card - get one with more memory if your monitor is more than 22" and you want to play on the bigger resolutions. This config will let you enjoy Crysis, so you'll be set for at least 2 more years with it I presume.

I would have loved to play the game. But it became from a multiplatform to PS3 exclusive somewhere along the way. I loved Indigo Prophecy no my PC, it worked well. If I ever get a PS3, that would be the first games I'd buy.

I'm thinking about trying out to add quests/systems where the quests aren't just different ways of "kill that guy". Maybe an option to spare the life of the monster for a reward? Maybe he will give you something, a kill, an item or will give you another pet and so on. What if you could gain Fame from doing monster quests or stuff like that, with whole new skill sets? Of course that's a lot of work and I doubt I'll have the skills to do it- modeling, texturing, cgi... I don't know if you could even do that in the editor. We'll see. If nothing else, I can give ideas to people who can do shit like that Or how about a campaign where you play a monster going UP the dungeons killing humans, trying to destroy Torchlight?

Yeah, some of the enemy path finding is weird too. They would get stuck instead of move 5 steps to the left and use the stairs. This way they just sit there while I take them down. It happened to me with the first boss, Brink, he got to the second floor, i moved directly below him and he would just stand there. Not complaining, though, those are minor glitches and the rest of the pure awesomeness that is the game make it up easily.

Really? My pet gets stuck so often. It wasn't a big deal early on but now I really need him to take and do some damage and this way I just lose time of his transformation.

I love it. But I died, got stuck between my pet and two monsters on some stairs. At least I thought it was my pet, still not used to it very well so sometimes I don't see some monsters. Also, there's no brightness settings in the game. Hardcore, very hard. Level 8. Later I will try to do it again, this time reach further. Had some awesome items, though, which is a shame.

I've been playing for the last couple of hours. I love it. It's really gorgeous. And when I gained some fame/level, my character look changed.

As of now, Torchlight is 6th in Steam's Top Seller list. Two places ABOVE Modern Warfare 2. How cool is that?

I've been playing on my PC since 1993. The first game I played was on the PC, I've never owned a console and I doubt I will - it's far more expensive for me than upgrading my PC every two-three years. HDTV (i don't watch TV, hell I don't even have an old 20" tv), Console, Wireless (if 360), more expensive games, subscription to use my internet connection for p2p(!!) gaming (wtf?!)... plus, I don't think single player games are worth $60 ($90 here) and there isn't a genre in gaming other than sports and fighting that I would prefer using a gamepad (and that I can connect to my PC) to play(and or fighting you still need an arcade stick). Take all that into consideration and spending close/over a thousand dollars for something I will only use to play games becomes unreasonable. Within the next year or two I will have Starcraft 2, Bad Company 2, Diablo 3 and Mafia 2. The Blizzard ones alone will occupy my gaming time for the next 2-3 years each. Why do I need a console again? Plus, I like to build my own PC, research the hardware and possible upgrade possibilities and costs. It can run for months and it still won't overheat. I'm a PC guy.

Nah, it's the same version. It's just that I dislike Steam for a few reasons like pricing (although this one was priced accordingly and not 1$=1EUR). Also, you don't really own the game when you buy it from Steam. You can't sell it, you can't do anything with it (not that I plan to, but it's a matter of principle). If it's all the same to you - get it from the site. Don't know how many times you can download it from them, though. I hear the game is on Direct2Drive as well.

I'll have to check some of the podcasts mentioned here. I'm new to these and so far I've only followed Invisible Walls and Epic Battle Cry. They are awesome, imo, especially EBA. One of the guys on it actually referred me to IdleThumbs few days ago.

I too pre-ordered the game. Made the mistake of doing it from Steam. An impulse decision, what can I say? The game is going to be awesome, though. I can't wait to play it and then mess around with the editor a few weeks from now. Hopefully I'll be able to do something interesting with it. If not - I hope the nerds and geeks who modded Diablo 2 and other games will spend some quality time with it.
