My advice at this point would be to drop it, let it go, relax, breathe and move onto to something far, far more important. -
I think it's time for me to upgrade my PC... Suggestions?
Armchair General replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Idle Banter
I don't know, it is sort of cruelly ironic. There was a great thread that showed loads of home grown, diy modifications that Indian PC enthusiasts had made. I think that the relatively high cost of parts was the main problem, but it seemed that what we would recognise as brands, either didn't exist or were long out of date over there. It made me feel a bit awful at the time I was pretty active on Tom's (2007-8 ish), there were a couple of guys who would save for months to buy 1 stick of RAM, that cost around £10 in the UK. What a wonderful world. EDIT: As always, I think it was available to the better off... -

There are people who post from all over Europe so you should be ok. Also, components don't vary very much across the Western world. Posters in India had trouble getting components, but nobody else. -

I live in the UK. The posts are in English, which you clearly have a good grasp of. -
Hahahaha! If I could bottle that noise and send it to Blix, I sooo would. That sound or the other, failure type noise he does

Done. Does this mean I will be forced to make love to you by the end of 2010?

I have two solid state drives, I can heartily recommend them. Definitely get one if you can afford it, to put your OS on. Rather than googling the internet to check for component conflict etc*, I would put together a system and then post it on Tom's hardware forums. People wil comment on things you should change, possible problems etc etc. There are also some great guides as stickies. It's not just about conflicts, but about getting a balanced system too i.e a cpu powerful enough to not bottleneck a gpu, a psu suitable for sli or crossfire etc. The posters on Tom's have helped me many times in the past, I would strongly recommend it when building any pc, let alone your first. *Not to disagree with the mighty 'Blix, but if you are a noob at this kind of thing, I think it might be a bit bewildering/confusing/frustrating (it was for me) -
I'm lost for words.

IDE cables are made of wood, right? I second the build it yourself suggestion. It's easy. Post on Tom's hardware if you get stuck, there's a wealth of tech experts who are happy to give you advice. -
Awesome TED Talks (and similar enlightening lectures)

Man, I love those RSA Animated talks too Ossk. I know it's 'only cartoons' but they bring the talk alive for me. -
OK OK OK That's IT Kolzig. I am officially VERY jealous of your travelling life. I shall accept no more! Also, Nachimir.....perhaps if journalism isn't your bag in the end, you should join me in doctoring. Sounds like you would be good at it. (The listening, not the bogsurfing) Also, Also, come back to me soon PiratePoo, Papa misses you!

So, if we are on the PC, FIFA 11 it is. All those in favour say I. I. Might be a little while before I can stump up the dosh, as in a few weeks or so.
-
This could actually be quite a neat idea Gripster. I would be interested in some multiplayer footy (Soccer....TSK TSK 'Blix). I would of course be PC based though, shunning lesser platforms as is my wont. Which FIFA would we all have to buy?

I have played the new update for around an hour..I'm not sure I like it. There are a lot more enemies at night, which makes moving about in the dark very difficult. So you either sit and wait the night out (boring) or venture out for more mining and invariably get killed (cue tedious re-kitting). If I get killed again by another silent creeper....:(:( The slipworld gates are interesting, but I would have much preferred to have had the 'programming time' spent on refining the game rather than new content in this way. I think that the combat is way too clunky to handle so many enemies. It could be improved by being able to retrieve your stuff posthumously but it always seems to disappear. I am left disappointed, maybe it will grow on me, but I'm not holding my breath.

His English is better than mine. Which is annoying, because I AM English. Did I mention he was a Saukerl?

Thanks Kingz. I liked your reply too, it made me laugh 'Err, yes you can, but not if you are as thick as you.' You judge me correctly sir.
