I think macros would throw off character balance though if you were to just add it into an existing game. If you fire off a combo and wiff and that character happens to have a super long combo, then the macro is going to mean you're going to be extra punished for it because of the buffered input whereas a manually inputted combo, the player would still get punished, but they could stop inputting the extra moves in the combo.

Over on gamerswithjobs forums, Bombsfall articulates a neat interpretation of the Dad's struggles with publishing which I happen to agree with.

So I beat it on hardcore difficulty, permadeath mode in less than 3 hours. total baby gaem. (KIDDING. It's great/amazing/highest recommendation. No joke, my GOTY 2013)

that animal crossing one with the bugs is amazing, tegan

Oh man, if that was at all the result of ghost trolling, I am so, so sorry.

huh there was a twine thread after all. I think i put my rampant fanboyism of Ultra Business Tycoon III in the interactive fiction thread, but it probably deserves a mention here.

As a result of watching way too many matches, I can say that: Touhou are definitely stronger than Melty Blood on average. Darkstalkers and Puzzle Fighters are solid. There are A LOT of fake Ashes (from Evil Dead). The one that arrives in a car in the intro is more likely to be "real" but I wouldn't say it's guanteed. The reallest one (and some of the fake ones can be competent) will bust out that klaatu barada nikto special which I don't think the other ones do. Oh, also don't fuck with Ronald McDonald. He's the reallest. btw mini-sized DBZ characters are often awful, I mean some of them are still good, but on average, if you don't know which ones, the normal sprite sized ones are generally a safer bet.

I don't think you understand how this works. The review score is shorthand for "on a scale of 1 to 10, how similar is this game to Far Cry 2."

fyi the new mario rpg is pretty good. mind you I haven't played one of those since the gba so maybe I am easily impressed.

If it's a magical girl/maid and/or chat is screaming 'loli waifu' it is probably either a Tohou character or a Melty Blood one. MB characters are less chibi stule than the tohou and seem to have smoother (possibly more frames) idle animation. Tohou characters are also good by the way. Not sure how they stack up against each other. If a character has "arrange" before their name they they are usually pretty good. Metroid Queen is pretty good too. Also completely ignore when people in chat say a character is "real" or "fake" The *could* be right/know what they talking about, but it's just as likely they're trying to swing betting odds in their favour.

oh btw lavos spawn is ridiculous. he doesn't move, I have no idea where his hit box is and his attacks just wreck shop all over the field.

holy crap. it is so hard for me to stop watching that. I'm lucky they stopped to update with some new characters otherwise I might be stuck there forever. I wasn't even playing/betting.

i don't know if anyone else pointed this out already, but http://www.gonehomegame.com/ghost/

Trust me, the guys on the stream have never done anything as bad as some of the spectacularly bad things I've done. For example: hiring mercenaries, running out of upkeep money (negative gold balance) and having them turn on me and decide to carve a piece of my holdings for their own. Now as someone with an understanding of the systems (leaving aside that I hopefully wouldn't have put myself in that position to begin with), I might be able to dig myself out of that. But as clueless/flailing as I am, the game is complicated enough without handicapping myself with a scenario like that as a starting point.

In theory I'd be interested, but in practice, I'd want to reset/restart as soon as something went badly for me which I don't think is something anybody else would want to put up with. But out of curiosity, how does the time scaling work in multi? It's just locked/never pausable?

Crusader Kings II: The Triumph of Ragnar
juv3nal replied to Nick Breckon's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I've been stumbling around through a bunch of restarts. The extent of strategic knowledge I've actually accrued boils down to this: 1) how to minmax the ruler creator/customizer 2) if you're saving up money to do something, save up enough money to do that thing PLUS enough for the second cheapest tier of mercenaries (and some duration of upkeep) because: a) you never know when someone is going to mess with you and require you to call in mercs sometimes the ENTIRE cheapest tier of mercs will be on jobs for other parties ( "oh I'm fine, I'll just bring in some mercs. I can afford those...wait no I can't." ) so yeah, I'm pretty bad at this game. -
People are absolutely allowed to like/dislike whatever they want even without having played/tried them. But those wrasslin moves. I spent literally an hour doing nothing but harassing pedestrians by clotheslining/suplexing/dropkicking them in SR3 when I discovered they existed (which, to be fair, the game doesn't, if I remember correctly, really tell you about them...I think I was HOURS in before I realized they existed).

I want to be clear, I'm personally a huge fan of SR3, I was just amused by Chris's reaction to the description of SR4. To be entirely fair, SR3's missions do take a dip in quality after the opening, but later missions recover and the mission "Deckers Die" especially is legit AMAZING. Also the wrestling move attack animations are pretty rad:

haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but pretty sure Chris could not sound less enthused about the merits of Saint's Row. Paraphrasing (apologies if misrepresenting):

The point is that the categorization of certain things as being feminine things is fundamentally problematic. 1) Who gets to decide what things are feminine and what things aren't? You can't just brush that off and say "let women decide" because they will not necessarily (and often won't) agree with one another. 2) if you say "these things are feminine things" you are implying that anything else isn't a feminine thing which is inherently problematic. To take your example: there are probably going to be some beer drinking, arm wrestling women who are going to be upset because you're inherently implying that they aren't feminine for liking those things more than, say "hugging, chocolate eating and decorating" edit: the point here is not beer drinking, arm wrestling, hugging, chocolate eating, or decorating. The point is that whatever items you put in whatever box is probably problematic for someone. Women, just like men, or people in general are varied, with varied interests.

This is basically my feeling. Things other people have complained about that didn't bother me: linearity, shortness, save system The one thing I would have preferred: fewer mercenaries to choose from (seriously who is ever going to want to load up their crew with all deckers), and some dialogue for each one. It needn't be a lot/full fledged companions, but just something to give 'em the illusion of being characters rather than just a collection of stats. As it is, they're totally mute. Not even "I could use a heal over here" floaty text barks. Nothing.

oh man, I was trying to take you seriously, but language barrier or no, I give up.

It's a mistake to equate not giving a damn about how a game looks with not caring about the game. Operating with limited resources means that everything that you choose to care about more means something else that you care about less. Ending up with poor graphics is often just a matter of having different priorities. Having said that, Have you had a look at Galaxy on Fire 2 HD? There's Rimelands From what I remember, it's not amazing, but it's turn based and looks ok.
