Idle Thumbs 202: Poopwater, New Mexico

admit it, you're just afraid of what she'll do to you with her noscope-headshot-an-eagle skills if you express disapproval. -
FTFY Seriously though what does Konami even have going for them aside from stuff Kojima is involved with? Pro Evo Soccer...and...I guess they could dig up Castlevania again? How was Lord of Shadows?

Idle Thumbs 202: Poopwater, New Mexico

When playing final fantasy 7 way back in the day, I'd hit a wall for some reason or other and ended up using a bottle of whiskey and a 20 odd hour marathon to push through to the end. I don't think I've had made it sober. -

There's no need to drop it all on any one single charity. Besides which, if you really wanted to drop it all on one charity, I'm sure there's a way to structure it so that the money serves as an untouchable principal for an endowment and the charity just spends the investment income off of it. edit: which itself might be significant enough to cause problems sure, depending on how small a charity you're looking at, but the bigger players could easily handle it I think.
-
I mean I don't think billions of dollars are needed for anything aside from giving to charity, but certainly it's easy enough to spend into the hundreds of millions if you have a whole mess of people doing stuff for you. If you want security person (people?), driver, nanny, PA, gardener, housekeeper, chef, personal trainer, masseur/masseuse etc. and then you probably want a backup on-call one of each of those for when they first set take their vacation and/or are sick. That stuff probably adds up quick. Obviously no one needs that, but it's not inconceivable that it's something people might want.

You're talking as if the whole point of a Breckon isn't for it to have meltdowns. It's the ones that don't melt down that got incinerated.

I believe that only hides the notifications, but you might still see them if you're going through your timeline, but I could be wrong.

This was a couple of months ago, but I had a chance to play Nuns on the Run. It's a write-your-turns-down-on-a-piece-of-paper type stealth game so it's a little bit fiddly, but I had a great time with it.

I'm a go on a limb and say maybe the author doesn't intent it to be taken as a super strict rule of thumb, just a "think twice" about it kind of thing, because if it were to be taken as a rule of thumb, it would invalidate parts of the rest of the article, for instance:

Menahan Street Band's The Crossing: It's instrumental soul with some jangly spaghetti westerny bits to it. or Budos Band's Burnt Offering: sorta nstrumental funk with some Black Sabbathy bits to it? edit: look, I'm not a Daptone Records shill, I just really like em ok? -
Oh and regarding the feeling that Brit interviewing style maybe being more confrontational, Stephen Sackur's HARDtalk is worth seeing to get a sense where that sentiment might be coming from, although one could certainly argue it's not representative. edit: ha beat to the punch by jonnycardboard

I almost suspect this is a calculated move on Molyneaux's part though in a "see? I'm not lying, I'm just wrong" way. I mean if you're Molyneux and your options are to be seen as either a pathological liar or a flailing incompetent totally out of his depth, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the latter is more likely to engender sympathy.

There's that one ubisoft writer (think he was the lead writer on ac:unity dlc?)

Speaking of which, I'm surprised Leliana doesn't have more to say about her. I know they weren't necessarily BFFs or whatever, but it seems weird how little she has to say at all. "Hey, FYI her mother is Flemeth who can transform into a fucking dragon etc." would seem like it would be something worth informing the inquisitor about, I dunno.

how Morrigan comes across IMO depends a lot on how you have her set up in the keep

Idle Thumbs 197: What Happened To Us

Destiny isn't awful, and far be it for me to guess their original intentions, but it feels like storytelling stuff has been cut. I mean why do you even get Claudia Black to do a voice when the sum total of your interaction with her character is pretty much nil. -
I don't know if there's overlap in our playtimes (I have odd work hours), but unless I'm already grouped with someone I'm usually game to group up for whatever even though I might be relatively overlevelled for whatever it is. I have a couple of shotguns I want to level up and am terrible with (one an exotic that is oddly a primary weapon) so if I use those I probably won't be a nuisance in terms of taking all your kills. dc_juv3nal if we're not already psn pals.

So I played through that again and somehow failed to win the thing at the end. I'd only ever played it once before and won so I'd assumed that it was the only possible outcome, now I can't for the life of me figure out what I might have done differently. edit: on consideration, I suppose the outcome could be random?
-
Not sure about allowing randoms to join your group. I do know that if you do strikes (but not, I think, the special weekly/nightfall strikes) there's matchmaking and you have the option of turning on voice if you want to.

oh also the reason to save blue engrams is they have a tiny chance to decrypt into purple gear, but if you already have a few purp engrams saved for a particular gear slot you probably don't need to bother saving that type of blue engram. The reason you want a few is because the armour parts have a chance of decrypting into something off-class. Everybody can use every weapon though.
-
Some tips since you're level 12: 1) save (do not identify) any purple engrams until you're level 20. Consider doing the same with blue engrams unless you're swimming in them. 2) similarly, save any ascendant shards or energy until you have a sense what gear you are going to stick with* since they can be a drag to gather The reason for this is that levels post 20 are equipment based and doing this will give you a head start on the equipment grind since engrams have their level fixed based on what your level is when you decrypt them. *This should be legendary gear, but note that legendaries are not all equivalent. pre dlc non raid legendary < pre dlc raid legendary < dlc legendary (which you dont actually need the dlc to get, just they were introduced in the dlc) < dlc raid legendary So what you'll want to end up with will depend on if you can be bothered to raid and/or if you got the dlc.

No one has photoshopped up the Keighley/Pagan Min thing yet. I am disappoint, y'all. -
Maybe something here would fit the bill?
