  1. Mass Effect 2

Yeah, it's pretty poor; the worst I saw was the thing on gametrailers. At the end of the day though I can only imagine the same mutants that handle ME2 handled Dragon Age, so I'll consider myself lucky with what came out of ME2 advertising.
  2. Sequels, Sequels, Sequels

It's not really capitalism that's the problem;capitalism pays me, so I'm happy for it. The desire to make money might be the problem, but it's not a solvable one. And really sequels to things I like, or things other people like isn't necessary bad, it's just the rate of fire on these things doesn't really suggest quality. The fact games take so much money to make and are infinitely more complex to do "right" these days, a one year deadline will either suggest crappy unrealized innovation or small iterative changes with inconsistent quality. I know Ubisoft can throw a ton of monkeys on the type-righter, but good games, good entertainment, and good art doesn't get made that way and if you fluke out and achieve such goals; awesome, but it won't last long.
  3. Mass Effect 2

Yeah but the skills and trees are much, much, much smaller though. And I guess with out an inventory system they don't have to worry about that, but you bring up a good point. I wonder if some of the design feels limited because it'll allow them to play it out in the next.
  4. Mass Effect 2

Wasn't it the main floor of the Normandy? I think it stated that in the elevator and they mentioned it whenever anything happened there.
  5. Civilization 5

My Civy sense must have been tingling because on Sunday I installed it and then suddenly it was Monday and I had to go to work.... Hexes eh? That should be interesting? No opinion of it yet, but glad to see they are changing things for hopefully the better. I'm more curious about the cultural and diplomacy stuff and the info was sadly lacking mention in the press release. Ranged ballistics seem cool, but there was just one odd thing about Civ since... 3?... is that so much attention goes into war and battles yet it seems like the game "punishes" you for it in the end.
  6. Heavy Rain

Whoa, whoa, whoa there. I dream of games like blade runner apposed to MW and I can tell you one thing, Heavy Rain isn't anywhere near the direction of a game I'd like to see that's "like" blade runner. Does that mean that anyone who likes Heavy Rain should be denied sequels or advancement in whatever genre it works in because I don't like it/agree with it being a hinderence on the industry? Your god damn right the industry should be dictated by my personal preferences. In reality it seems to kind of take a middle-road based on my opinions, however.
  7. Heavy Rain

Ok, hate for Heavy Rain aside, I'm really, really surprised/happy? that a game like this got a budget that big. I mean who would put down 20-30 million for a weird adventure-esq game here in north america? No one.
  8. Fable 3

Another video talking about "touch" how you can "reach out and touch people" so just a thought; can I molest people on the street? In the same satisfaction I got from being a jerk in GTA4 by just plowing over people again and again. I'm wondering the situation of just groping people and what does this mean in a multiplayer context? Then there's the children, other people's and, OoOo, my own? Oh the possibilities... Thank you Molyneux. Also sort of reminds me of warcraft 2 when your units would plead to stop touching them.
  9. EA Presents

I'm not sure if Groucho is a person anymore or a forum bot that makes great EA puns...
  10. Heavy Rain

yeah they seemed to enjoy it, kind of shocked actually. I was more dissapointed by the fact that if I didn't make my guy inhale his medication that he didn't eventually die, instead it just waited forever.
  11. Heavy Rain

I think my mind blanked that out while glancing at it the first time. Yeah, don't get me wrong, I hear people like it, that's fine, I didn't "get" it, but from my opinion + many other various different opinions I'm really surprised to see there is not even a little bit of dissension.
  12. Heavy Rain

Ok I might be insensative to this since i couldn't make it passed 2 minutes in the demo before shutting it off... but... http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/heavyrain What fucking universe did a fall into this week? Do I need to give this demo another shot? I didn't see anything closely related to a game/entertainment in my 2 minutes of getting sick of pressing uncomfortable sets of buttons to do mundane tasks... ok that description made it sound too much like gameplay.
  13. Mass Effect 2

That'd be really cool and hopefully any "visits" to past characters, however they may be, won't feel like a slap in the face with 2 peices of dialog that stay static from start to finish even if you pop in and see them from time to time.
  14. EA Presents

EA Presents: Zarathustra: God Slayer EA Presents: Ballad of the Gay Science EA Presents: Beyond Good and Evil: Go to Hell
  15. Mass Effect 2

I really liked Thane too, but I think it would be hilarious if he was just dead in everyones game, like they really didn't cop out on his sickness.
  16. Fable 3

Yeah, 100% with you on this. I mean its early information, they didn't really get into what the big draw is, which sounds like the a better end game to Fable 2, and thats just running the country. I really liked how the environment changed based on your decisions in the sequel, its just too bad they did it like three times. So basically giving me a game that has nothing but that going on and expanding the family stuff would be fine by me. As silly as it sounds, I really liked the idea of this legendary hero having a kid and the relationships that could be there and problems that would cause.
  17. Fable 3

Agreed Jon. Things I noticed; I like their design sense they keep going with since fable 2 I like the new lighting design/system, looks really nice. I hate the characters faces... I thought they were finally getting somewhere in fable 2. Wings? Gay. Weapon evolution? Wait a second... this is the same thing he said for Fable 1 only this time its a visual change, not just naming it and some stat bonuses.
  18. I think Chris really said it best that sums up my opinion on ME2; as a sequel to Mass Effect, it wasn't the sequel I would have prefered, but as a video game that was a continuation of Mass Effect I really enjoyed it. Fable/kotor visual system... yep agree, that's retarded and a step backwards. Steve seemed more lively.... maybe having something to prove to take Nicks spot? Not that Nick was overly dynamic or talkative anyway. Anyway, great cast, really missed it, also you convinced me to play Heavy Rain demo just for some laughs.
  19. Far Cry 2

Yeah Kolzig, FC2 has that like ten hour entry mark, where around that time you start seeing the game, which is unfortunate in terms of getting acceptence because very few games I'd give the chance, but I was drawn in by fc2 pretty heavily. Side note, was listening to a thumbcast when playing Farcry 2 and they talked about Henry Hatsworth. So I went, downloaded the sound track and started it up while playing Farcry 2. I can say that the first 2-3 adventure tracks were hilariously fitting when I was cruising around in the buggy running over things and escaping fire fights.
  20. Diablo III

I'm trying to avoid this thread like the fucking plague, because I don't want to be chatting about this game for the next 2 years, but I can't help myself just this once, honest. File that female monk post under the Idlebanter using tits to sell your games, because when I saw it I just about constructed an alter to worship whoever had the brains to actually approve that design. I mean, christ, what an awesome character design and is exactly what I've been hoping to see from a fantasy game for over a decade now; and its coming from freaking blizzard of all people... Hear that Bioware? BLIZZARD has better taste in female character designs then you do, feel the shame. Anyway, it's awesome and anyone that says differently can fuck off. Might I add, yay diablo 3; unicorns can be crapping rainbows all over the screen and I'd still be excited.
  21. Mass Effect 2

I also think it was more just teaser imagery for the final chapter in the saga, rather then literally interpretation. I assume they would explain their presence during the next game.
  22. Sonic 4

If they start the game with the classic "Segggaaa" that almost might be worth the purchase regardless of the quality of the game... but man I'm not a huge Sonic fan, but just seeing that trailer pulled some memory strings of how much my friends and I used to not sleep playing sonic.
  23. Bad Games

Wow, totally agree; that demo was almost a bait and switch for what I took away from the game. The gameplay and story just seemed to be pretty cool in the demo then totalyl changed as the game progressed.
