Did they ever define zug zug? I just thought it was "yah, yah" because thats how the peon said it. The jokes were all confined to the clicking too many times, but there was a level of goofiness overall to the characters, dialog, voice acting, and set up, but it was kind of tongue and cheek in Warcraft 2. Buildings with Christmas lights, candy cane patterns, and giant turtle boats, it was pretty hilarious/awesome. That's what made me think of the Brutal Legend connection (minus the fact that Metzen and Samwise seem to be big heavy metal fans) is that they are so "hardcore" in their subjects it crosses over into the comedy.

Boy, I'd love to start this today.. not like I should talk since I was part of the hold up

Hero; Chris summed it up best, but basically I would have added you to this game, it's just I'm a lousy book keeper, I really apologize, in fact I went back to read some stuff in this thread and I missed a couple of other people who were interested in joining, so apologies to them(see can't even remember who they are and I read their names like 5 minutes ago) So your exclusion was nothing person, the "suspicious" nature of me was better explained by Chris, and just my apologies for being crappy at keeping track of players. I promise the next game I host, your in if you want to be... then you can just take out your revenge and destroy me, hehe.

I really hope not because everyone will know who I am when I don't twitter, sorry but Im not the facebook or the twitter.

Yeah I was pretty fanboyish of Warcraft 2 and really wanted to know more about Warcraft. I loved how there was this displacement/native american theme going on with Orcs. It wasn't this huge love fest for Orcs that is now going on as there was still an attachment to the demonic religion and such, but being able to meet Orgrim and Hellscream seemed pretty cool. I think there were sons of Blackhand or something involved in a plot to kill Thrall or something, and a whole quest to restore his clans name... I can't quite remember. Thrall was kind of like a Conan type character which seemed interesting at the time. I never ended up reading the book, but maybe they really fleshed some of that stuff out, I dunno, I'd play a game, but not read a warcraft book, lol. I said it once, I'll say it again, boy do I miss old warcraft. edit: I was trying to imagine how a game\narrative could work like that in this day and age, I mean its a bit campy and a bit mundane with just "knights" and "wizard" without all the elaborate flourished names and designs. Then I was thinking of what kind of game could work and how it could be pulled off.... and all I can say is get Doublefine using Brutal Legends engine and crank out the action adventure version of Lord of the Clans. It could work... maybe.

Anyone else in? I'm hesitant to add the two new guys, no offense, as the last time we did that most of them dropped out and the other was too timid to interact with anyone. Can someone get a hold of Famous? He needs to defend his good name!

I never had any trouble just getting a ticket at the gate, but I've missed one or two of the recent ones so that might not be a good idea these days. Anyone know if there is any trouble just showing up on whatever day and getting a ticket at the gate?

Is this the game Jakes mentioned back in early episodes of the original Idle Thumbs game? I remember him talking about music and an elephant
-
I really wanted to like Torchlight, the music was great, the gameplay was pretty fun, just the tone of it didn't connect with me. That will probably change when I can play with friends, as I don't need to pay attention to the goofy/lightness of it.

Up for the next one dibs, or still on the cruise? Also, sorry to hear about your gran.

Yeah, from an outsider standpoint publishing sounds more interesting then just French... though knowing the language to a well enough degree to speak and write it is on my life list, hehehe. Aside from the basic jobs I would know(editor?) in publishing, what sorts of things are there in that world? And what's your day to day like in those jobs? Kind of curious about the whole books/magazine side of things.
-
Yeah that's what I figured, you were doing pretty well there so I assumed you were on your way to win, but then the next update you dropped at least half, so figured it was afk with the job/moving stuff. I was totally feeling burnt out when this game started up, but not being part of one just made me get this itch to go in all the way next time, hehe.

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 11: Diplomatic Pouch

I'm just giving you an account of my experience living there, I obviously had a bad time since I just moved. I'm sure there are a ton of examples of why it's great and why it isn't. But from a westcoast perspective such as mine, living there was the pits. And yeah, sorry to say, I'd completely disagree about being one of the best cities in North America, even Canada... but I'm not here to start a culture, locational fight. Montreal has some of the best baked goods in North America, which is it's saving grace in my eyes. Oh and very attractive women, I love long hair, flowing dresses and tallness, so it was pretty awesome. Also, when I speak of the industry not being all the great in Montreal, I didn't mean the fact that it doesn't have a lot going on, in fact it does, a lot more then Vancouver. The average game quality out of Montreal is higher then anything from Vancouver, it's just I dont think the companies, games, or corporate culture in Montreal games industry is as good as other places and I don't think it's worthy of Chris Remos time. It wasn't worth mine, and I rank myself a lot lower on the food chain than Remo, so -

It's not a bad city, it's just not a great one and I don't think the industry there is all that gre..... wait a minute. Ok I was about to say how the industry in Montreal isn't all that great(at least for Chris Remo) but then I remembered how Ubisoft was leaking some top people like a siv and how one Clint "Hock and Sock" Hockings was among them and whispers of a new company starting up. That is completely based on coincidence and imagination, but that would be worthy/make sense for Remo. -
Thanks everyone and, again, sorry for just the crappy rants most of the time. I never seem to have good news, but I'll just post a quick thumbs up and thumbs down when I find out about the funding. I think I can have the first term and possibly second covered, so I'll figure out what to do for next year and the year after next summer. Thompson; sorry to hear about your gran, I'm not big on funerals either, no matter how much I cared for the person, it was always a bit too much for me. Raff: what are you switching to?
-
Yeah I dont know what I said brief, because I didn't care if they descriptions were brief or long. Interesting stuff, thanks everyone. I imagine Chris went AFK for a bit maybe to deal with some real life stuff, it kind of seems like he did? I still don't have my own computer set up, but I'd really love to start a game in the next few days to get in before I start school, if anyone is up for it... Also, I'd love to do telltale rules on the next one so if we could get a moderator to do the name drawing, that'd be rad. The Next Game Moderator: Patters (thanks!) 1. Murdoc 2. Wurtsi 3. Sleepdance 4. Asembo 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. *Chris as potential

Murdoc replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Not really on any coast and, jesus, I hope Chris has more sense then to go to Montreal from Frisco. Also, I would have assumed they would have said Canada rather then east coast, but hard to say. Frankly, Chris Remo is too good for anything in Montreal, except for maybe the baked goods. -
Man I can't wait for the next one, but is there anyway to hold off for a couple weeks, I still don't have my PC back, hehe. Can anyone give a brief account of their empire? I just want to see the game played out for a couple of different perspectives.

Murdoc replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Oh yeah I love the name if it ever comes back for anything it's a must. Maybe Chris will find some cool people on the east coast(ha, yeah right) to do a cast with? Also if Jake and Vanaman wanted to do one under a different name, I would certainly listen, but Im not sure between not playing video games and playing snoopies flying ace it would be a very good "game" cast. I'd just listen to it for the soothing voices, odd jokes, and random noises. -
Yeah sorry for the angry, half drunk post, but I'm currently "living" with my grandparents and haven't been able to completely lose it in real life though I was/am pretty close to it. WE have provincial/Federally funded loans, which I have and is what is paying my tuition, what I need is bank loans for living expenses. My program, as flimsy as it sounds, is actually pretty tough, we're not supposed to have jobs and we should be working 12-14 hour days 7 days a week. This may be looking up today as I found a bank that seems to be giving me a good deal, however I think over the last half decade of working in a pretty profitable industry my interpretation of monthly payments has been totally skewed. So just trying to get in touch with my family to see if they can even qualify for this... I hope so, i'd be hilarious/awful to be stopped at this point over not having someone able to qualify for $124 a month. (long story short in order to get the loan I need to at least make it through the first year I need to know someone who has an extra $124 a month... they don't need to pay that money or spend any money of their own, they just need to have that money to qualify as "good credit". Again, to me, I think I've spent more money on pop and chips a month when I was working... for my family that might be out of their league.)

Murdoc replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I dunno, I don't think the show could exist in its present format without Chris. After he left the Shacklnews, Shackcast tried to do one and it didn't work at all for me. While I love Jake and Vanaman, they need that straight man moderator type that Chris offers, also his discussion points are my personal favorite. -
Yeah sorry just edited my post that was the original name submission Jake Rodkin was supposed to be Toblix and we went through a dozen of ideas until we got one that worked, hehe.
