Do they still make those? I just cant imagine a big name studio(sure) making a flight sim in 2010
-
alright lobotomy and hero protagonist(if he shows up, hehe) just send names to patters, he'll scramble them, and send them to you guys. We're still missing two from the original crew so identities should be semi secretive among everyone, except you'll know who each other are... is there a better way to do this that I'm not thinking of?
-
I really didn't like anything about them and I usually can find something about almost everything to say nice things about.
-
Yeah I'd imagine it was all progressively leading up to a larger, true open world game. Maybe by the third or forth sequel.
-
Then again it is called Icarus, maybe it's a game on the sun and Chris is currently writing the sequel which will be on the moon.

Honestly I don't pay attention to Irrational, i didn't really get their whole deal while they were making those super hero games. I understand the past pedigree, but aside from that they haven't really tickled my fancy. Bioshock was interesting narrative, but the game itself wasn't my thing. That aside, now that Chris might actually be contributing something to the game, I'm a little more interested. Also with the success of Bioshock it might have given them a little bit of rope to try some really neat stuff, like bioshock was neat, just not my thing neat. I'll be surprised if it's a third person game, but I can only hope so, as I'm really not a fan of fps on consoles.

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 12: The Silken Goku

Noticed on shack that Irrational reveals what they are doing tomorrow, which was surprising because I didn't even know they had a teaser of what it was anyway. edit: oops already a thread on this in gaming. -
Yeah, Im really disorganized on this, I intended a 12 person game anyway, but then only had a list of ten, lol. So we might as well add a couple more people
-
... I just might be horrible at this, but I thought we were playing with 12, we only have ten. ...

Maybe those who joined pm Patters so he knows who to poke
-
He said last time was going to be his last time, so really last time means last time depending on the money. Not knocking him for that, I'd do anything for the right amount of cash.

I'm not familiar and google spits out a basketball player... which might explain what we're seeing, but any examples of her work? edit: Or I could take two seconds and look at Doublefines site, lol. http://www.doublefine.com/comics/Tasha/ Yeah, I dunno, that doesn't explain much to me though either, I mean the raw comicy comicness of it(oh I know words) is whatever, but not sure if that explains the deliberate separation in style and technology going on in the game screens. A lot of people seem to do it and I never understand it, except trying to do the classical animation thing of simple shaded characters against elaborately painted backgrounds; like I understand that as a thing and understand the desire to do that, so why are most attempts to do this for games so lackluster and lazy? edit2: Like for example look at Telltales Mcscoobins or whatever thing, that's totally that guys art and they nailed it for the game(granted totally different game type that might be easier to achieve) but I thought that translation and personality to it is commendable enough to point out.

I'm not a huge starwars fan, but basically any lucas arts(well within reason) IP + Clint would be cool, I mean the chances of him just making whatever game he wants with a cool Ip, new or old, would be pretty awesome. Really could you imagine an openworld, farcry 2esq(not in shooting mechanics, but just these high level features that break the conventional mold) in Star Wars? Full Throttle? Monkey Island? I don't want to even think about what he could do modernizing any one of those games with some big concepts on design.
-
Yeah, I mean the premise of old school earthbound style rpg is great, kids on halloween; awesome! But the art direction isn't my first choice and considering it's coming from Doublefine, a bit sloppy/lazy. IF they want to do that crap cel shading(meaning default, out of the box algorothm that looks like crap) alright cool, but then they are doing the standard painted texture environment art... which makes me think of the PA games like someone mentioned, but then the children designs are just boring too. Sort of looks like they want a powerpuff or windwaker look out of them, but nothing at all is dynamic and the art is just, well, bad. Doublefine usually has better designers and imagination then this for their art, just because it's low budget doesn't mean a creative's brain calculate said budget and designs accordingly.
-
agreed. edit: children's character design needs work, a lot of work.

Really, the name computer wasn't taken? brilliant.
-
oh just like a computer, lol, thanks that worked!

Ok cool, I'll set it up asap, I'm just going to go with a middle of the road, medium game since I think there are a bunch of first timers. I'll leave alliances off because I find it more fun, but if anyone objects before I hit enter, I don't mind turning them on. The dynamics change a bit, but it is pretty interesting both ways.
-
I realllly should have asked this earlier, any preferences on game type? Also, I should start the game as me, then leave and join later as my scrambled name... that works, right?

HOCK WATCH *annoying radio sound effect of either a hawk or someone spitting* http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/65048 So yeah, thats, um, interesting. Just curious if anyone knows the state of Lucas arts, I remember listening to their GDC presentation(last year?) where it was all about the rebuilding of Lucas Arts and how Force Unleashed had a lot of hurtles but everything is ok now and Lucas Arts will return to be an awesome developer, then literally a month afterwards I thought they fired everyone(people who did the presentation included) and said they were going to be more of a publisher with third party developments. But since then I've seen them out hiring developers and now they have Hocking; which makes me more then curious/excited; but just curious as to wtf Lucas Arts is doing right now as a company, I guess they are back to being a developer?

I've really been trying to ignore Civ 5, but Chris' talk just gave me the civ shakes. I'm so busy in September too, this is just going to ruin my life. Also, I sent this in, but it was never discussed a lonnnggg time ago, but Steve asking for Nick to send me mail reminded me that this existed based on the very obscure comment... http://www.themailchamber.com/ -
Just started to use my iphone for actual entertainment since the summer(been on the road) but I've run into a problem. Going out on a limb, but the internet hasn't seemed to have documented the iphone SimCity very well(or what I could find) has anyone ever ran into a no sound problem? In the options the music and sound effects sliders are at 0 and I can move them to 100, press save/continue/apply and they still sit at 0 when I go back. When I hit the music button to play tunes off my phone rather then the game music the message looks duplicated and offset to create a garbled look. Anyone run into anything similar before? Anyway to fix it? Thanks!
