  1. Books, books, books...

in Vancouver now with like 6 chapters, nothing, took a chance at a few used book stores downtown, but nothing either. Chapters still sells books but it seems like every book I go there for over the last 6 months isn't ever carried. And it's not like I'm looking for obscure books either, granted it's not a new release, but I figured CS lewis would be carried in the national major book store. Oh, actually one thing about Out of the Silent Planet, its super cool and everything, but if you're really anti religious, you may not like the subtext near the end.
  2. Books, books, books...

There was a documentary? Anyway, I was reading this around this time last year when I was playing Dwarf Fortress and started to see parellels which I thought were funny. The book takes a dive about half way and I just stopped, I tried to go back, but it just keeps taking a dive. Interesting take on human history, a lot of neat stuff in the first half. *** Finished Out of the Silent Planet and now want the sequels! Too bad Chapters stopped selling books and I can't find it anywhere in a major city of Canada, so waiting for an online copy. In the mean time reading the Martian Chronicles and so far it's great too. I wonder why I stopped reading fiction when I was kid? So weird.
  3. inFamous

Yeah I played for 20 minutes with my free copy wanting an open world to run around and fuck with, but it seemed so clumsy and not fun I didn't play further. I've been curious about Prototype to fill the void and glad to hear it does the traversal stuff better.
  4. Which GTA to play?

I dunno about that mod, the cars look nice and I see differences in everything else, even slight, but it looks like realistic cars running around the stylized GTA world. I get it from a technical standpoint, but to me it looks off and weird.
  5. Dungeons of Dredmor

Seems like a game I'd be into, but I can't stand the art direction. It reminds me of those paper doll web ad things, where you dress your doll to look like you. Just horrid.
  6. Wow, well Ive been searching this one forever, but I guess after writing out a description it gave me enough to google it properly. I have been looking for this game name literally forever, I didn't just think of it now(I may have even posted this question before) Anyway... Behold the WIN95 game Sample CD! and the game I was thinking of.... ENDORFUN! It's not quite what I remember and the music is, well... maybe it was better not to have found this, lol.
  7. Ok I have a couple here that probably are impossible. Game 1 "Puzzle Game for Win 95 or Win 98" I had this game demo disk that came with, I'm pretty sure Win 95. The interface was like a 3d FPS where you would walk around these rooms looking at pictures of the game you wanted to play. It had MechWarrior 2 on it, maybe zork, stuff like that. But they had this one puzzle game which you played a coloured cube with different colours on each side on a grid floor of colours(like a disco floor) and you could only roll onto a square that had the same colour as that specific side. After rolling off, I believe, the square disappears. It had some pretty awesome ambient music too from what I remember and you could just zone out and roll a cube, it was cool. Game 2: Pre-Win 95 (486 era?) It was a space ship game, but I don't believe you fly a ship around, instead it was something like bridge commander, where you chose where to go and had a right bar of purple or pink that had a scanner and showed your shields and such. I believe you could contact engineering, pick up items and out fit your ship. The only thing I remember though, and probably the only identifiable part is you could go to warp speed but it was dangerous, doing it for too long would leak radiation and your crew would turn into mutants. At that point it was impossible to do anything because your systems would display a picture of a three eyes classic smiley face and they'd be drawing picographs or something in crayon... it was weird, just wondering what the hell this was.
  8. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-from-dust/17-4531/ Yay PC release on the same day. I love the tech this is running on, not sure if I am digging the gameplay. I always compared it to Populous 3 more then Populous, which was more of a scenario/gamey based then a sandboxy system game. The particular level they show sort of reminds me of the biodome on Startopia. The systems running the game(not the obvious fluid and dirt stuff) are awesome, but I just cant help but feel I want a different game out of this.
  9. Tabletop RPGs

Well, I suck, I'm going to have to drop out on this. Too much going on to feel up for creative writing and team play. Sorry guys.
  10. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

Or Bushido Blade. I will say Jedi Outcast had some pretty sweet dueling before people just figured out they could macro 3 force powers and win.

http://www.shacknews.com/article/69258/dishonored-details-first-screenshot-revealed Screenshot. I know it doesn't show much, but kind of bland compared to the description and concept art... so what else is new.
  12. Deadly Premonition

Damn, that's a shame. I've never played DP and never will, but the amount of entertainment I received from that endurance run made me really want another game from him.

Disagree, I think it was appropriate to link Remo with infinite because he's working directly for the developer, but to link Nick to any Bethesda product seems strange(unless he moved to Lyon and I'm oblivious of that). Granted he probably handles a lot of different titles, but that seems too complex of a system for thread names... not to get all serious about this, hehehe.
  14. King Arthur's Gold

Spikes and draw bridges, so awesome. Game gets better, only one server in the US that I get a decent ping to though.

I've been curious to know what they were working on, really vauge concept art, but a bit of a description and the thought that it could be using IDTech 5 is pretty exciting. yay new ip.
  16. Hey! This is really late to ask and doubt I'll get any answer, but I'm blasting through the casts again and had a question for Chris. He mentioned Dungeon Keeper and how he liked the DK1 over DK2. I was always a big DK2 player and never played DK 1 until recently. I'm just curious if you remember what you liked over the first one compared to the second, because they seem like relatively the same game, just DK 2 was better looking and more refined? Oh and if anyone else who feels the same as Chris care to offer up their answer too would be really appreciated.
  17. V The Elder Scrolls

I dunno, saying quests like Oblivions just seems like a step backwards, Id rather have fewer more interesting questlines than a lot of crummy quests. The armor onesy just feels, again, like a step backwards, like I'm just buying a crafted doll rather then customizing the visual look of my character. Maybe it's a lot to ask because even Oblivion didn't really have this effect, but I love rpgs that tell a story just by what your wearing.
  18. V The Elder Scrolls

http://www.shacknews.com/article/69163/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-designers Not really sure how I feel about this, raised eye brows in a dubious fashion at all of it.
  19. Issues downloading old thumbs on iTunes

Thanks Jake! and to those you thanked. I'll be smart this time and backup the copies, just in case.
  20. Issues downloading old thumbs on iTunes

Since I started work in the summer, the thumbs have kept me company again with my classic listen through. It's been halted though and now my days are lonely. Also, might I say, god damn, this was such a good podcast, I really miss it.
  21. Conquist 2

How does it compare to the Iphone version? I like the look of this a lot more, but the one thing that bugged me is the "win" button(radiation sign) on the iphone version, though I think the last update just balanced it out quite a bit.
  22. Google Plus aka Emerald Sea

google wave came out? I wondered what happened to that, I really loved googles msn killer, that really took off, along with Buzz; two heavy hitters right there.
  23. Issues downloading old thumbs on iTunes

30 and 31 seem to be missing along with the two podblasts that were in between those(or before and after)
  24. What is the Mystery of Scoggins?

I saw the quick look and really liked what I saw. I was always interested in the game, just too cheap to give it a go; but a $3 steam sale on Puzzel Agent 1 and I'm in. As someone who hasn't played any of the Telltale adventure games, how does Puzzel Agent hold up to those? Anyway, so far so good, love the characters and I'm a sucker for twin peaks style settings.
