Yeah thats kind of my problem with it as a hole, I need a bit more direction. But the new update has produced some pretty interesting places, it's not like it'll be a 30 hour game for me, but I had fun exploring for 40 minutes or so. I'd probably keep doing it 10 minutes at a time, but it keeps crashing out of memory on me... I have no idea why.

AH man, thats sucks, I'm about to get pretty banged up soon by the bastards. There are still two slots left; maybe you can just join again?

I dont really care if there are bosses in the game, my biggest gripe is that the design around them fucking sucked. Since the last game I played with bosses that I can remember is Zelda, I'll use it as a comparison. There i found the hook of the boss battle and the method of winning... it was challenging and fun. In Deus Ex, I never saw the hook and even when I did, it was poorly executed. It wasn't challenging or fun. But anyway, I said my peice with it, because it was annoying, but a small part of the game. My biggest gripe was the overall pace and narration handling near the end, but I am positive about this entry and hope for more with polish.

That doesn't sound good.... run? that's what I've been doing and it isn't anywhere near 200 critters.
-
Well finally beat it... probably should have just stopped at that third boss. Not to say the end was bad, just...

I hope so and they all somehow affect each other for one mega meta game.

Okay gave it another try... yeah that wasn't so hard, no idea why I couldn't do it the first billion times.

Okay, made an 8 player game, maybe we can start without the other person or anyone else, just join in! Pretty much everything standard. http://jf.ironhelmet.com/game/366723 secret word: games edit; GAHHH, it started; I dont like that at all. Wont make a move until a few more ppl are here... not sure if it makes a difference.

Yeah I didn't know what was up, but I'll start one up tonight, excited to try this with people. The biggest let down so far is that doesn't randomly assign an avatar like in Neptune's.

Yeah I dunno what the problem with the boss was, the second boss was annoying, but wasnt overly difficult. Im really unequiped for this fight, since I tried unloading all my heavy ammo into him and rifle ammo, in addition with the stuff I picked up around the room. I have one mine, so that strategy doesn't work for me. Tried the laser rifle and it didn't seem to do a thing; but I guess thats a hit reaction problem more then what it might actually be doing to me. The dude can kill me in 3 shots, maybe 4 and doesn't seem to be in pain long enough for me to get close enough for a head shot when I stun him. Could just be a bunk week for gameplaying, but I do run into the odd game where I just can't beat a certain part of it even if everything is relatively easy. I remember the GOW1 last boss being like this, then I picked it up again 3 months afterwards and finished him in 3 minutes. So who knows, the frustration and annoyance of having to do it again is clouding my playing, most likely.

Aaaaaannnnnndddddddd Uninstall. I can't even remember when I was so infuriated at a single player game.

Dead Island fails to live up to its name and is in fact alive

I wouldn't feel too bad Tmac; I consider it more an outcome of the internet than gaming. There are probably millions of these videos out there on just about any subject, not just gaming. It's probably it's own genre of internet humor by now, a really lame kind, but seems like there's a new something like this every week. -
sigh, may as well just turn down the difficulty and download a trainer at that point.

I'd want to make that game, that'd be neat. edit: Cant beat the third boss, only have 2 mines and a couple of concussion grenades, I've unloaded every heavy weapon bullet I have into the guy and nothing. I've gone through the drawers and ended up using the laser rifle which seemed to do nothing.

I don't ever go out of achievements, I don't get them and think their dumb. That said, I'm usually a run in and kill everything kind of player and have been going mainly non-lethal route. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way and I have to kill some people; but I tried to do the "right thing" and that's all that matters, I don't need an achievement to tell me that. ... So shammack, so one could say you accidentally extinguished his life? *cue laugh track*

Honestly, I don't have many mines or a lot of shit to throw at him. I'm kind of getting a bit bored with the game and hope it ends soon anyway, but Ill give it a couple of stabs again, if not, I think I'm done. It was an all right game, dragging on too long and, yes, boss battles are the worst.

Onto another boss fight(yeah, sorry the complaining is getting old) but I think he read my tutorial on how to beat bosses because he throws an awful lot of shit at me.

Usually if a publisher is shy about showing something, it means it's not looking good at the moment. That's not to say it won't by the time we see it, but even the smoke and mirrors nature of a trailer can usually push a game that isn't quite there to looking pretty interesting. But yeah, showing nothing after all this time is pretty telling of how production has gone.

In the future, it'd be amazing if the moon was a mario galaxy type thing of being a physical land mass in the sky that would pass over at night. Then we could build an elevator high enough to get suck in by its gravity!

Thats a shame to hear, the Giantbomb thing sold me, but I dont want to play with a controller... -
Played a singleplayer game last night which allows you to fast forward 4 hours just to go through it... which is a cool option. I like it, I dont think it will hook me as much as Neptune did and from what I remember about Blight, this feels pretty similiar, only in space. I liked the card game aspect to it, but it seemed like there were only 3-4 cards I'd actually use, so more variety and useful ones would be cool. The dice rolling aspect of it seems cool and I still dont understand capturing new territory when it has a number like 7:4... might have to do with why some mines produce faster, I dunno. I assume payment is the same as Neptune in this: does anyone have credits? If not, I'm willing to buy in and start it up.

Back in China... quick question to those already through... edit 2: nevermind, quickload for the win.

Well I'm not arguing about the difficulty of it, in the literal sense. Once I figured out to throw all grenades at them, they are really easy and if future ones are the same way, I'm sure they will be no problem. I think elmuerte said it best though, it's frustrating because it isn't challenging. It's difficult because there's no design or logic to it. I can see the intention of the design for both bosses and the intention are two different play styles to beat them, but the execution is terrible and in no way works... resorting in me throwing all grenades at it.

Shoot them and kill them. I tried taking cover with the cover mechanic, then ultimately just went behind stuff Doom style and threw grenades at them. The first one only took a couple tries, because I guess he went next to an explodey thing, but the second one, I'd say at least ten. Funny thing though, I dragged the dead body all the way back to the plane/helicopter/thing, I was hoping I could keep it when it loaded into detroit, no such luck, but would had been hilarious if we could.
