  1. Prison Architect

I can get this now? sweet. I love this studio, so they can take my money.\ edit: done, will play tonight.
  2. Torchlight II

I feel exactly the same way Henroid. I find them really dull. I don't know if it's because they haven't been made interesting yet or if I just had to play through so much of it in Diablo 2 that I genuinely dislike it. I love a lot of architecture from places like Pakistan and India though, so I'm pretty ok with the urban settings of a desert like environment, but roaming around in rock and sand doesn't do it for me.... but haven't played Journey yet, that looked interesting because they did something with sand dune. Also, thanks for pointing out that thematic context(???) forests can have a variety of different styles, weather, even in the first area of Torchlight, it's essentially the same deciduous forest but eventual transits into snow... I wonder if act 2 will do something like that. There's just usually a lot more going on in terms of shapes and colour as well in a forest than a desert or arctic but I think we need to issue a challenge to game designers to figure it out, it's a made up fantasy world after all. Also if act 3 is a god damn jungle I'll be a little annoyed, but thankful I'm out of the god damn desert.
  3. Torchlight II

Well that's cool then. I just would have liked the Act 2's area theme not to basically be D2.
  4. Torchlight II

Finally retired my icy goblin cannon. The thing is though, it still works, it just takes forever to kill anything. It knocks people back, it stuns them, it blinds them, and does something else, it was great! I'd just have to wail on them for half an hour. * Oh got my gun bot, it's amazing. So I got to Act 2.... [spoilers] This is pretty much meant to mimic Diablo 2, right? The story of following an ex hero that turned bad, act 2 is now a desert land, etc... A little disappointing because I have bad memories of the desert in D2, it was just so bland. [/spoilers]
  5. Half-Life 3

Yep, which is why we're heading for a crash. If half the developers going out of business at the turn of the last generation and the other half having to be bought out by giant publishers wasn't a sign...
  6. GTA V

They had more than one writer on Red Dead, the problem that people have that won't be rectified anytime soon with Rockstar is the fact that Houser will have his hand in every script as a writing director, so yeah, just have to take the good with the bad.
  7. Torchlight II

So I have this cannon... I really like this cannon, the enchantments are great and I can gem it up better with time... but will there ever be anything that allows me to change the base damage it does? Seems weird to want to get married to a weapon early in the game, but it was a monster and I haven't found anything close to it since, except it's a tad weak now and becoming ever weaker as I move forward.
  8. Half-Life 3

    AI Director 2.0
  9. Torchlight II

*I turned off the music and turns out there are footstep sounds! So, no complaints so far other than I want to play more
  10. Torchlight II

Well, I couldn't activate the game without a connection, so I'm just playing the demo. I liked T1 but it didn't capture me like Diablo did. The art style was well executed but never I'd it for me and while I loved the music, it felt too soft for the tone of the gameplay. So, Torchlight 2, the art style remains tue same but I think the execution and articulation (higher res textures) really wins me over. The music, as I've been listening to it all week, is awesome, so I'm in love. I've just been playing the engineer and all ready the new class feels fresh and interesting to me more so than what T1 offered. I can't wait to continue playing, it's great. One minor request would be to get foot step sounds... I don't think T1 had them and that's the choice of the dev, but, boy, if I could her the potter patter of my character that's be perfect.
  11. Torchlight II

Toblix, the eccentric billionaire handing out random free games. You can't buy my love. yes you can.
  12. Torchlight II

Sweet, thanks seedpod. Idealy I'd love to just have it on steam, but we'll see how bad I want to play this weekend. I did buy Flotilla twice, so really I can probably just wait for a sale if I ever need T2 in steam.
  13. Torchlight II

I can't find this information anywhere and am waiting to be approved for the runic forums, but maybe someone here knows. If I purchase T2 from the website, do I get a steam code as well? Also, if I get T2 from the website, is it just a stand alone client, or do I need the internet in order to play it? (Im still without internet at home and would love to play it this weekend, so want to know if I can grab it at work and play it offline at home.)
  14. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Well if they keep going on the course they have been, you'll be able to play their wonderful games on a MS and Sony box within the half decade
  15. Torchlight II

Listening to the soundtrack just makes me more sad this isn't Diablo. Yes it's good, but the art style always bugged me, but, god damn, this soundtrack makes me fall in love with Diablo 2 all over again.
  16. Torchlight II

I might be the minority, but I don't give to cents about Borderlands 2, but I'll certainly be picking up Torchlight 2. From a systems standpoint, yeah they are similar, but play style and draw seems completely different.
  17. Creepy Pokemon hack story

I like the idea that's there though, could make an excellent game if developed
  18. Project Eternity, Obsidian's Isometric Fantasy RPG

Hm fair enough, I guess I'm just not catching whatever they've been throwing. Still boggle me because I don't understand what it is, because the bullet points you guys list of whats good about their games today was what I liked about their games of yesteryear. There must be a divide somewhere, but I won't bother figuring it out.
  19. Project Eternity, Obsidian's Isometric Fantasy RPG

Yeah I know, I love those games too, but it was 14 years ago. FOURTEEN! You can have a mildly intelligent conversation with someone born when Fallout 2 came out at this point and they haven't done anything "good" since. Anyway, not going to crap this up, the game might actually be interesting but I'll see how it shapes up when it's done before I hand any money over.
  20. Project Eternity, Obsidian's Isometric Fantasy RPG

Not the thread for this discussion, but I seriously wonder why people still support this studio... boggling.
  21. Sleeping Dogs

Yeah my problem is I like GTA and so into GTA, I just wait for GTA to give me some GTA because the other ones are never as good. And since there doesn't seem to be anything that unique about this other than setting, I'll probably just wait. The narrative dissonance in True Crime was the core reason I couldn't get around the previous versions. I'll accept the problems from GTA 4 more than a cop going around stealing and killing on mass while undercover. And frankly the dialog from the trailer made me laugh a bit... "You're a cop!" "No, you're a cop! I'm an undercover cop, it's different!" Compelling. All joking aside, people say the story is handled nicely, so that's cool.
  22. Sleeping Dogs

Hm, I didn't think game looked all that good, maybe it's different fidelity when playing. The video honestly sold me more than anything, but I'll probably just wait for a steam sale.
  23. Oh, I'm Canadian and we are well aware of the "Zee" pronunciation. What I meant though is that on the cast it doesn't sound like they are saying Day Zee they are outright saying Daisy.... I know it's pretty much the same thing, but I thought they were just joking around with the Daisy Lords thing. Or that's just how they actually say Day Zee.
  24. Sleeping Dogs

I'm a skeptic, but I've heard a couple people in the office talk about it, the GB guys, and now an entire thread here. It doesn't sound like there's a single compelling reason to play this game other than "it doesn't suck, it's pretty alright, and GTA 5 isn't out right now". Not trying to be rude, just skeptical, what's the top three reasons I should give this a look?
