  1. Glad to see Pieter Weinhandler is still with us.
  2. I'm not sure if my graph is broken, or if it just isn't displaying everything from the beginning. Though I am surprised to see a huge difference between game 1 and 3. I'd be curious to know the parameters of game 3 compared to game 1. Since the game isn't over, I can't tell if we are having an incredibly dull game or it's so nuanced in the politicking that it can't be represented very well on a graph. Either way, it looks like we're on a slow drip for the end... * * Two people did go AFK which may or may not have slowed things down or changed everything.
  3. It's funny how the game started out so light hearted and everyone expected deceit, but the chat is no silent, there are no grand gestures, and any friendship is questionable at best. The game went dark awhile ago, but I fear we have descended into a hole too deep to climb out of, the only option is to trudge down even further...
  4. Yeah I hope they come back, afk's always throw a game off balance. Understandable if they don't though; it's a shame there isn't a feature, somehow, to allow players to join in and take over... but I'm sure that has a myriad of problems associated with it.
  5. That used to be the case with speed in NP1. If you didn't do speed in the first cycle you were doomed, which is probably why they removed it. Funny now how everyone is the same speed in the early game and now weapons is a deciding factor. I found it troublesome because most people did research weapons so there was no trade going on. With proper coordination I guess two or three people could research different things, but in a game of strangers and unknown, that wasn't much of an option.
  6. The Baboo Kazoo Nebula is on it's 9th cycle and things are getting dark...
  7. I usually just set the way points then cancel them before the carriers leave.
  8. Damn that is costly.
  9. Warp Gates: So do I need a warp gate between two systems like a star gate? Or do you put the warp gate on the star your launching from and that gives you the boost? Or do you get the boost traveling to a system with a warp gate? A bit confused by them. Also, I am both relieved and sad to see speed upgrades go, I liked how it changed the scale of the universe because you could be zipping around. The tactical advantages of being faster than another species or getting the upgrade in the middle of a jump while two fleets race for the same system was also great. There are other great things in Triton to make up for it though.
  10. Based on that statement, you better not be who I think you are!
  11. I woke up this morning and what my scanners show is not looking good...
  12. Does anyone know how this handles research and trading? For example: I'm researching weapons 1. I trade for Weapons 1 and acquire it. What happens to my research? NP1 would nullify that research. I haven't tested it, but I think your research points stack against the next level of research, I could be wrong.
  13. That blog is really amazing. edit: wow those menu options just made my day, I never thought about checking them, awesome. Now if the menu could be semi transparent, that'd be awesome.
  14. Yeah, I like the naming thing because it encourages some for of craziness. Whoever is JFK in our game is a damn champ with those quotes, it's awesome.
  15. Can someone post a leaderboard from the other game? I want to see hilarious names. edit: I also miss how you could rename your fleets.
  16. Maximillian Payne: Part Trois

I have't yet played the final version, but at the start of the level does airport security call him Señor Payne? Because I thought that was pretty hilarious and hope it stayed in.
  17. Banished - The Indie City Simulator

From the topic name I was hoping this was some city simulator where you build an alternative city that doesn't listen to the man! So basically Portland.
  18. Yeah that would be the idea, but I guess that's impossible since you could see the movement of everyone which would be a slight advantage and make scanning a useless tech. Ah well, would be neat in a perfect world... oh what about a recorded version of a game, so if something was especially cool, people could just watch replays? Not as fun though.
  19. For a sequel, it would have been great if they added the spectate mode where people could just click and link and watch whats going on and read global messages.
  20. If you guys want to do the telltale name thing, I don't mind being the one that rolls those out since Henroid was nice enough to volunteer last time. It's a lot of fun to have those names.
  21. Alright, just sent out the links, password is wizard (I realize I did this all backwards, where as the password should have been sent out and the link posted, lol) I also just realized Neptunes Prides 2 model is totally different than 1, so it's not like someone who bought in can host a game for all. Anyway, we'll wait a max of 2 days before we call in the back ups if someone hasn't joined.
  22. I forgot the internet keeps going over the weekend, apologies. I stuck a list of players and asked Henroid (no pressure now, ha) if he wants to be our name moderator, I'll find a back up in case he says no. When that gets settled I'll post again and you'll have 2 days to submit a name, if you don't, one of the runner ups will fill your place. In case you are unfamiliar with Telltale rules: You will be required to submit a avatar name to the moderator. When you do so, you will be given a "randomly" selected avatar name by said moderator. Use that name in this game, but try to keep it a secret. Of course all of this is a bit silly because we don't know each other and it's over the internet, but it was hilariously chaotic the first time, so it's fun to keep in tradition.
  23. Maximillian Payne: Part Trois

I think it was also part of the architecture of turning an open world game engine into a linear level based game. Also I recall the whole weapon switching problem after a cinematic was a design decision rather than a tech thing... I remember us mentioning it 3 years before the thing shipped so someone wanted it in.
  24. LucasArts is no more

    That's awesome, Thrik.
  25. Thumbs at GDC?

I know an abandoned warehouse we could meet in.... I'm totally not trying to murder anyone, honest.
