  1. So for those who missed it, in August we're planning a little meet up in Utrecht with the Idle Thumbs community.

We haven't decided on a whole lot yet, except THE DATE WHICH IS Saturday, August 23th  for the date which will be somewhere between August 22nd and 28th. If you're interested, we're using a little scheduling site so we can select the ideal day; if you PM Roderick, Dutch Idle Thumb Extraordinaire,  and send him your email he'll hook you up with a link to the site.

Like I said before, we haven't decided on a whole lot, so let's use this space to do just that! Our current idea is to just find a place where we can all go have a beverage together and, weather prohibiting, maybe sit outside and enjoy some sun while enjoying a beverage.

    Current list of deviants:

    • Lu
    • Roderick
    • elmuerte
    • I_Smell
    • Osmo

    and...

    • YOU!?

  2. I am currently arranging the Dutch Idle Thumbs meeting: if anyone besides the people who've already expressed interest (Osmosisch, ElMuerte, I_Smell and myself) is up for it, please send me your e-mail address and I'll share the planner with you to pick a date somewhere in the back of August.

Also for good people from Belgium, West-Germany, Northern France and Englanders who might be in the neighborhood. But not Luxemburghers, who are vile people and we should turn our backs to them.

    We need a thread!!

  3. Yea, that was lots of fun. Sitting at the booth, seeing streams of people pass by with all manner of costumes. If I had to take away anything from that community is that it's in general a very accepting one, and you could tell everyone was having a lot of fun.

I gotta say, first time I met Rodi (in the flesh) and 2 days later he got me into his hotel bed. He's quite the charmer.

I may or may not have missed the last train home on saturday evening. Rodi to the rescue!

  4. I would guess that he won't be in character?

Indeed, this is correct. “I won’t be doing the new show in character, so we’ll all get to find out how much of him was me,” Colbert said in a statement via CBS. “I’m looking forward to it.”

    AND SO AM I.

The whole situation makes me feel strangely nostalgic. I've watched the Colbert Report off and on since its inception, and during some of my teen years, the rebellious thing I did was staying up late together with a buddy of mine and watch Letterman on whatever channel that was aired in my country. It's all changing! Exciting.

  5. If the consumer version of the Rift is awesome, then I don't really care. Unless they start doing gross things with the hardware/software I'm alright with it. I probably had that same gut sinking feeling a lot of others had. Still, VR is just way too cool and if anything, Facebook's deep pockets will let them do some pretty cool stuff, no doubt. Time will tell how decision will pan out, but I remain optimistic. If Oculus gets to do what it wants to do (as is supposedly the case) then it's gonna be pretty sweet.

  6. It seems to me that the people on the "Levine is an awful / incompetent person" train just needed some good drama and a villain.

That's not my recollection of the events... I think if you read back the discussion on the first couple of pages, it was progressing pretty amicably up to the point where Aaron made a rather snide comment. There was a person that flat out called Levine an idiot, but other than that it was just wondering out loud what could have happened, and whatnot. My point is, I don't know what train you're talking about aside from the one you boarded and rode all the way to tiresome-lets-talk-in-circles town. (I'm jesting! i.e. not trying to start something.)

For the record, I agreed with a bunch of your points, but it came across as uh.. aggressively making your point? It felt really out of tone to me compared to the discussion I was reading before that. Also not implying that you're the only one to blame for that, but contributed, yes. I can't speak for others, but it certainly rubbed me the wrong way.
