The Arma 2 + Operation AH thread of 'let's try this again'
Lu replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
So, I think I found our host, but before I order anything, I just wanted to know if any of you are familiar with ukgame.com? I think I'll get that as they're pretty cheap. Unless some of you have heard that they're terrible, or something. I'm still looking into some mission packs for a small group of players and I think I found a few, but if you guys have any idea or whatever, feel free to chip in. -
Wahts retoracle? More wondering why, if Rodi had always wanted to play it, he hasn't bought it on gog.com yet... Maybe I should've added that... DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!

You know, I was wondering how Nick Breckon feels about being meme-ified, but as it turns out, I'm okay with it.

Amazingly beautiful. Plus I started off with a great partner who stuck with me till the end. Super cool moment when Actually got a message afterwards thanking me for the playthrough. I was also told that

Seems to be the regular version. Anyhoo, I managed to buy Journey. I decided to check my CC stuff and it was non-existent. I guess they reset that stuff after the hack... I certainly didn't touch it. I got some vague error code about it, nothing indicating that that was the issue. Ah well, problem solved.

Yes, when I buy RE6, I will buy it on PC.
-
Just tried to buy it, getting an error too... I also noticed they're offering Mass Effect 3 as a digital download for €69.99. Are they fucking joking?

That Jill thing went WAY easier when I played with Toblix. I think damage to the device actually matters when you try to pull it from her chest... I just sniped her device (lol) from the balcony thing, Toblix waiting around downstairs to run at her the moment she gets stunned. Got it on the 3rd time he had to do it, I think. Per comparison, the first time I played it I remember I had to do that shit like 500 times before it came off. As I'm typing this, I seem to remember that the device has a health bar, that pulling at it with your hand does like 10 damage every time you jam whatever QTE key you have to press. 'Blix is one cold motherfucker. He killed Jill straight up 4 times in a row with his Magnum, while she was lying helplessly on the floor. It took a lot of reasoning and convincing for him not to do that and spare her life.

I agree with you on a lot, but the example you give of how Star Craft II does it, is pretty much a non-choice to me too (in terms of narrative). Neither choice is wrong, but it essentially boils down to "Which unit would you rather have?". Do you ultimately affect the way the story plays out on a macro level? It might, but I don't remember because it was too long ago... I remember talking about Dragon Age Origins on these boards, and how liberating it felt to not have my choices connected to good and evil points. Morality as a gameplay system is a rather oppressive one to me. Of all games I've played, the Witcher 1 and 2 still have some of the best examples of player choice. Set in a grey area and outcomes that are almost never immediately apparent. That's not to say that there is no room for clearly defined choices of good and evil; I think, as systems, they need to be more nebulous to the player. The player needs to decide on the morality of a choice, not the designer.

Not the one from the beginning that you incinerate. The 2nd, high-powered version, where you get a flamethrower. I think at one point we were fighting it for 15 minutes and neither of us were getting how to actually kill it. Blew off all his glowy tentacles, gave him the full load with the flamethrower and even then those bulbs you have to shoot only popped out occasionally. The final battle with Wesker in the volcano was annoying. It's the QTE parts and rigid order of events you have to complete in order to get Chris and Sheva back together again... I had to jam F to the point where my arm got sore. I seriously wanted to punch whoever designed it that way. Speaking of punching, Chris punching a boulder is still the best part of the game.

The only hosting options I have found rent out servers per month. For a day would be excellent, but there probably ain't a thing like that. I'll do my best to make it work! I'm setting our first playdate for sunday the 25th. I will have figured it out by then. As some of you may or may not have read, I moved last month, only got my speedy interwebs back yesterday and blahblahblah life. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. -
They're gonna break 3 million easy!

After 5 weeks of tethering my phone to get internet, I now finally have high speed internet in mah new place. Feels good, man.
-
Well, at least Valve now has measured the response of the public to an idea such as this? It's something!
-
Oh yes! That looks awesome. I wonder if that fire-station thing means that you'll be able to do some building customization, ala Spore, but a bit more architectural? That'd be amazing!

Putting in the whole url doesn't work for some reason. To make it work, just the little tag bit after the "=" is used. Like so: 1_oggIhHi2E

I. M. Nick Breckon, my sources tell me.

It was a rather dickish generalization, but I don't think xenophobia has anything to do with it. The gaming industry in Japan simply has been in decline for a while now, even Japanese developers acknowledge this, but that isn't to say no good stuff is being produced anymore. Most games made in Japan don't ever make it out of Japan. The games we see are only a small percentage of what is actually being produced, I think. Anyone do correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't check for facts. Ever. My knowledge comes straight from the gut!
-
HAHAHA, that's goddamn hilarious.

That is way better.
