Did you check the motherboard manual for the correct RAM slot positions? Could be that the RAM is in the wrong slots, as it requires a specific order. To use my motherboard as an example, the slots are laid out as 1A, 2A, 1B, 2B and so on, but if I had 2 RAM thingies, in order for it to work properly I'd have to put the RAM in slots 1A and 1B and anything else wouldn't work.

I propose a get together in the Idle Thumbs steam group chat at the time of the thing, so we can talk about it together, laugh at the hyperbole and go "Whoa" when something cool is shown.

Yea, I was gonna take a break from Planetside 2 and skip this weeks event, but figured I might as well get everyone going. It worked out for me in that after 30 minutes 3 guys had connected, so it didn't look like it was gonna happen. Next week!

I did! Totally fixed it. Thanks.

I forgot, but I rectified that.

So for some reason Chrome completely broke the forum for me? It's probably a problem on my end, since the font is all weird and whenever I try to post it goes "Your post is empty" and none of the editor buttons work. Any ideas?

If it's around the same size and weight as a dual shock 3 then, I don't see what the problem is. And if it's multi-touch, I still don't see the problem, because what exactly is the issue with having to let go with one hand? I do that all the time already with certain games. Besides, pinch and zoom with both thumbs should be as easy as reaching the thumbsticks, I think. I kind of hope that the PSEye cam will be a standard feature of the new Playstation as well. That'd be cool.

Hahaha, how'd that work out for them? That other unrelated giant rock that's coming past earth NASA will have a livestream all about it. They'll have near real-time imagery of the asteroid's fly-by. I think the stream will start at 19:00 UTC, 14:00 EST. The asteroid is set to pass 25 minutes after that. Edit: The live stream is on. It'll pass by at a distance of about 27.000 kilometers (17,200 miles), traveling by at an estimated speed of around 7.8 kilometers/second (17,400 miles/hour, 11,900 km/hour). It's size is estimated to be at around 45 meters in diameter, which is about half the estimated size of the Tunguska event asteroid. That one burst apart in the air, flattening an area of about 2150 km². It's safe to say we can be glad that DA14 passing by without hitting! After the fact radar observations! If you click the link, there is totally a video of this gif!

Sorry, I was saying something I already knew you did not mean and I shouldn't have implied that that is what you meant. Having read up a bit more on how folks are responding to this, I see your point.

I don't see how "others do it all the time" is supposed to make it any more acceptable? And "a tiny bit better" is a bit of an understatement, since those effects added a lot to the mood of the scenes. To think that demo build was a mere 6-7 months ago. It seems like reasonable criticism to make, regardless of the game, or the larger discussion surrounding misleading screenshots/promotional material. That said, I don't think the prettier visuals would've saved this game; it seems broken on a fundamental level. Plus, the internet echo chamber seems to be in full effect. I'm not familiar with the Halo 4 thing, by the way. Got any links that illustrates this?

Oooh, so wait, so is that demo the version that Sega used screenshots of to promote the game? Is that what was going on with that?

I don't know, but can I just say that the amount of unfounded assumptions on the 'why' is irritating the shit out of me? GOD, so irritating.

I'm pretty sure that was just youmeyou flying.

They should have just cancelled this thing. It feels like this pandering piece of entertainment for the Bros, completely missing the point of what's cool/interesting/enjoyable about Alien and Aliens.

In the process of finding a suitable pillow. I'm so damn tired. I haven't had a decent night sleep in a few weeks. Neck cramp ahooooy! Tried 3 different pillows so far and I've concluded I simply need a lower neck support. I will get there! Happy New Year!

I played my first match of Dota 2 (first Lords Management experience ever) and I was only slightly terrified the entire time.

I thought they were joking when they went "It's the plants... The plants are attacking!", but that aside, this is looking like money well spent!

The Hot Drops, platooning it up. This week felt like a bunch of unorganized chaos way more than previous weeks, but maybe that was because the enemies were being jerks, not letting our do our Hot Drop strats. Either way, check out this group of cool folks:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=v-Fnn0yOw74 and here's Warren Spector's talk! I noticed by the way that when warren spector said that "Lollipop Chainsaw should not have been made" in his opinion, and it felt like a throwaway line, but that's the headline Kotaku ran in connection to this talk. Why? Was that really the takeaway? SIGH. But maybe that's my mistake by holding Kotaku to any standards. You can find a whole list of more stuff over nyah. I haven't watched any other talks yet, but definitely link it if you thought it was worth a watch!
