  1. The Big VR Thread

740 euro's (total costs) if I were to buy it... So uh... I'll wait.
  2. The Big VR Thread

I'm still undecided on whether or not I'll pre-order the Rift. I suppose price will be the deciding factor.
  3. 2015's Games of the Year?

So many good games this year! In no particular order, my favourites this year are: The Witcher 3 Love it for all the reasons people already stated in this thread many times. I put over a hundred hours into it and I was still sad that it ended. SOMA This is secretely a great adventure game with some horror elements! Ori and the Blind Forest Goooorgeous! Unexpectedly difficult platformer that controls great. Really satisfying game. The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Best point and click adventure game in YEEEEAAAAAAARS. Great characters and utterly charming. It can be a little reference heavy, but overal just a wonderful game. Highly recommend it. Lots of added value if you play the first game first, though that's admittedly a lot rougher of a game than the 2nd one. Still good and well worth playing, has a lot of charm too, just not as great as the 2nd one. Just a heads up that both of these are 20+ hour games. Really anyone with a love for point n click games should play this though! Game that was great fun to play but overall I'm just not sure about: Metal Gear Solid V Yea. I dunno. Great in some ways, incredibly disappointing in other ways.
  4. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

Yea, it was said that Storm Troopers like Finn were kidnapped from their families and brainwashed into subservience.
  5. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

Chewie's bowcaster used to shoot green. This one shoots red, so it's a new one? I took the fight between Finn and Kylo as Kylo arrogantly playing with Finn. Kylo ends the fight really quickly after Finn manages to hit him in the arm.
  6. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

On #1, I don't think that was ever the case for the Star Wars universe. There are distinct trade lanes and hyperspace routes all throughout the galaxy, although I don't know how canon this map is in the new SW universe: ALSO! I did some reading since I was very confused about which planets
  7. Plug your shit

Really like the way it looks. And seeing the game appear in the Steam Top Sellers list. Congrats!
  8. Walking in a WINTER WIZARD JAM

    Good luck everyone!
  9. The Witcher 2

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-official-the-witcher/63501 Yes, yes, yes and YES. I figured I'd create the thread already, share the trailer, share the excitement. I want this game so badly. Really looking forward to it.
  10. Return of the Steam Box!

In a most recent beta update they added the ability to allow you to bring up the virtual keyboard in windows, but the current caveat is that you need to run big picture mode minimized or something? I'm sure they'll get there eventually.
  11. The Big VR Thread

Ya know, I'm not sure they have gone into specifics on the specs for the Rift tracking cameras, aside that you can hook up multiple cameras to solve for occlusion problems... But in the demos they've been showing off for the past months, the tracking volume is at least large enough you can walk around a bit, but not to the extent of the Vive tracking solution. Another thing is that the Rift cameras have to be plugged in via USB (I think??), whereas I'm pretty sure HTC/Valve said the Lighthouse tracking units would be wireless for the consumer version?
  12. Rat Fur Dead - Warhammer: Endtimes - Vermintide

Yea, pretty much this, though I don't particularly mind a lack of Versus, as with Left 4 Dead it was usually 1 team having fun and 1 team having a real frustrating time. I guess the option would've been nice. Maybe they'll add it in a later update! Anyhoo, from the little I played of it so far, I've been enjoying it a great deal.
  13. The Big VR Thread

Valve stated a bunch of times that the large tracking volume is a feature of the Vive, but that it's not at all a requirement. I would suspect a lot of first wave VR will be about sitting down or just standing around looking at stuff. If only because a lot of the titles will be compatible with multiple headsets and the only major disparate feature is the larger tracking size of the Vive. Lowest common denominator maybe? I suppose the biggest differentiator will probably be price and default input device? Since Oculus Touch won't launch until some time after the headset is out.
  14. Walking in a WINTER WIZARD JAM

And to whomever made the original Jam banner, since it's pretty much that with extra words! Edit: Thank you Coods!
  15. Return of the Steam Box!

Just an FYI that if you're using the controller, join the beta build branch of Steam. They're updating and fixing stuff on an almost daily basis there.
  16. Idle Thumbs Readers Slack & Discord

I would be a proponent of disabling giphy outside of the gif channel thing.
  17. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

One of the official IMAX posters, apparently:
  18. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

Tickets booked! Gonna see it on the saturday after the premier earlier that week with a bunch o' buds! I AM EXCITED TO SEE THIS FILM! EEEEEEEEeEeEEeeEEE!
  19. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

I kept reading it's actually some ice planet in which they built that giant (probably) death laser. I saw another poster where they tried to cram in every possible character/thing though. I looked it up and I found it: It's so.... BUSY. Otherwise fine, I guess...
  20. Return of the Steam Box!

I got the controller this morning! Nice packaging. First impressions: Feels very nice to hold. Every controller needs buttons on the back. The trigger pull is a bit lighter compared to a 360 controller, the travel is about the same. The full pull click ont the trigger is a feature I really like. So far there is a lack of customizing what the controller does when it's just simulating a mouse/keyboard in windows. There's also a lack of customizing the types of haptic feedback on different touchpad inputs. For example, I want better feedback on where the finger is located when simulating a D-pad on the left touch pad, but options so far are a bit lacking. Other than that, the customizability of mapping buttons to various things is pretty impressive and flexible. So far, a really good first impression. Will fiddle around with it a bunch more, for sure.
  21. I would love to participate and help in any way I can.
  22. Star Wars Battlefront 3

I was really excited to try this and then I played about an hour and a half of it. It sounds great, it looks great, it plays really well and I had no fun playing it at all. The smaller rock planet map is a frustrating mess of grenade spam, CoD style spawns and being able to get shot from everywhere. Hoth is even worse in that regard with it's wide open planes. I think half the fun in these games is good map design and both these maps seem pretty terrible?
  23. Plug your shit

    That looks totally rad!
  24. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

A little bit off topic (maybe), but Denis Dyack did respond when that silence bit him in the butt pretty hard during his next venture at Precursor Games; to get that Shadow of the Eternals game kickstarted (it failed). This is the video: And in response to that video, this counter-response article from Kotaku. Both are pretty interesting.
