Dammit Raff, your avatar always makes me want a steak & kidney pie.

I really like the Silent Hill soundtracks. I'm ridiculous.

Also us in 'murica need everything explained to us in one-syllable words by our own talking heads. -

Rodi! You've never read the words for Jerusalem! They're from Blake's preface to a book about Milton. And did those feet in ancient time. Walk upon Englands mountains green: And was the holy Lamb of God, On Englands pleasant pastures seen! And did the Countenance Divine, Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here, Among these dark Satanic Mills? Bring me my Bow of burning gold; Bring me my Arrows of desire: Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my Chariot of fire! I will not cease from Mental Fight, Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand: Till we have built Jerusalem, In Englands green & pleasant Land -
Oh, so I have to be the one to recommend Ellis' Planetary? Dammit, Nach.

You can just turn up in a taxi or on a bus, or on a bike, yes. Do call an ambo if you begin to have swelling of your tongue or trouble breathing - you might need someone to stab you with an EpiPen or maintain an airway. Don't forget the NHS Direct line - 0845 4647 (5p/min from a landline).

Newbs should lurk moar to get a better feel for the fora before they post. I've started the physical therapy exercises again for my arms, and it's really depressing how terrible I am at everything.

Idle Thumbs 66: It's Broadcast Jones!

Heh, Fallen London. I played that for ages in 2011 (I even paid Fate for the ad-free/extra candle mode) but suddenly one day in October I just... stopped. I think the grinder aspects finally showed through the story and got to me, plus the game didn't quite look right on Mobile Safari so it was tough to play in my downtime at work. I second the story-building aspects, though I could do without some of the steampunkier accents. They noticed I stopped, because some Rubbery Men sent me a gift of Fate last month... I might try it again. -
Welcome, new thumbs!

Did you self-build (complete kit? modular kit?) or get it factory-built? I like the goofy grin on the front of my new Mazda3; I know you can get inserts for the Miata grin that add shiny white teeth, but I don't think there's such a thing for the 3.

I am pleased with this spoiler change. There is some element-reshuffling-and-resizing (TECHNICAL TERM) going on in the mobile style, even wIth text spoilers where the underlying text is the same size as the spoiler block. I think that is unavoidable.

(PREENS.) They're working on a third one, but I forget the release date because I am rubbish. I don't know McKelvie, but I drank with - and, I think, spilled a drink on - C-Monster (Keiron Gillen). He is good people. Also he has a podcast that is in-depth discussions with fellow creators and it is good.

Oop, here's a sideline: Journal comics. On the cray-cray end there's Rowland's 0.02% true Overcompensating; in the I-hate-this-person-after-reading-his journal-comic middle there's Kolchaka's American Elf; on the want-to-share-a-drink-with-this-dude end is Weing's Journal Comic.

why don't I get the joke

Are you at any point telling yourself that you "don't want to be a bother"? If so, quit that and be an advocate for yourself. That "mustn't make waves" thing is the very NW European tendency to that led to my mother having a gangrenous gallbladder because she didn't want to make a fuss about the pain she was in. I do it too, and that's part of the reason why I have chronic pain/RSI - I didn't stand up and say "hey, this thing hurts" back when it was fixable.

Whenever I am next in the UK, I may find a way to hit you up and ogle your Miata (DISREGARD THAT I CUCK SOCKS) What is it you have in the "ridiculous roadster" category? A Caterham, or a TVR?

I am contractually obligated to recommend Phonogram and Phonogram: The Singles Club, by Keiron Gillen (because my best friend worked with him, but also because they're also really good graphic novels, especially if you were a teen in the 90s). I also distribute Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, volumes 1 and 2 to new readers; the newer Leagues are less brilliant but worth a look. I might also suggest Moore's Promethea; it gets crazy later on but it's worth sticking through it for sheer what the fuckery. Finally, Bill Willingham's Fables - might as well get to know it now, before the video game.

Would we have to eat Hawking's wheelchair?

No, Yufster! You must tell us everything that happens and that they tell you, because now I'm invested in this medical drama.

You've got like five cars though, right?

Oops! Sorry. I thought you were from Brighton, for some reason! Also, yeah, caffeine can make your body do crazy stuff if you ramp it up suddenly - even if you're not allergic. I'd gently suggest you try decaf or switch to tea if you just need the "hot brown liquid."
