Idle Thumbs 80: Happy Dishonored Halloween
subbes replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
If you do that with plot-required antagonists, you get the video game equivalent of the first season of The Wire: take one down, and another will step up to take his place. Hm, that might have some interesting narrative hooks. Would be a bit depressing, though. -
p.s. i may or may not be introducing a subtle Jurassic Park joke into this script via the medium of "examples" in the config file.

Well, resume building if not portfolio building - it's a back-end Python script. But I gots me some pythonage.

Idle Thumbs 80: Happy Dishonored Halloween
subbes replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I thought I could fall asleep tonight listening to this (as I've run out of History of Rome episodes) but I had to give up because my face hurt from laughing at Kotik's parachute followed by "it's Halloween!" -
oh god my ribs hurt from laughing

So since she's "his" until marriage, could you or someone else "marry" her (legally but not spiritually/emotionally) to get her a chance to escape? It's a gross suggestion, I know. :/

Did you read the police log in the Arcata Eye? (Arcata apparently has a lot of drum circles. Must be the hippies.)

I love Amnesia but am too much of a scaredy-cat to play it, so I watch others. At first it was just shammack, but now I'll just watch reaction videos and LPs. In fact, I just got done watching "cry"'s 34-part playthrough of Amnesia on YouTube about 15 minutes before making this post. (Also that one part in Bioshock with the mannequins? I was sat on the sofa beside shammack as he played and when that happened I screamed, jumped up, and ran out of the room. I are girl.)

Poor whale being ignored by the humans around him. -
Wasn't Cyberdyne one of the corporations in Terminator? I originally thought Perfect Dark, but - of course - that was dataDyne. Cuh.

I think the answer involves my ADD.

I know I've linked to that before, possibly on the thumbs forum (in the Life thread?). Totally helpful.

I revealed to shammack that I'd been playing TWD with the sound turned off, so I could listen to a podcast in the background (multitasking! also it helps me not get so spooked). He convinced me to turn the voices back on for a spell, and man. In my head, Lee has Lester Freamon's voice and I can't get comfy with anything else.

I was going to come in here to say what shammack already said. But he'd already said it. Hey, shammack! You and I think so alike. We should get married or something.

Pay someone to change their name to yours. Problem Solved!

I use Readability a ton. Highly recommended. You can get a bookmarklet and a browser add-on as well. If if bugs you for an account check BugMeNot. Just by making things easier to read, it doesn't really help you decrease your Internet time though. You have to pair it with something - like using the Readability app, or Pocket (used to be "Read It Later") or Instapaper - to filter out things you really want to read into a separate bucket, and dunk you head only into that bucket rather than the whole river. The river has carp and pike that will take your nose clean off.

UFYH sends out a daily "get the hell off the internet and go to bed" post which pops up in my Google Reader and reminds me to go the hell to bed. At work, in my downtime, I can never find anything to do on the internet. Once I get home, though, it's like some sort of... floodgate.
