Sorry man.

Has String Theory been mentioned? Start at the beginning, but don't be dissuaded by the art because it gets much better much faster. Also Paranatural. Earthbound meets Persona with that very Tumblr-esque language. Oblig: Gunnerkrigg Court.

Idle Thumbs 97: The Dash Rendar Synergy
subbes replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
P.S. I want to hear more about this Wacaday appearance. Was the mallet prize a Pinky Punky replica? Also I heard Funhouse mentioned and now I have the theme stuck in my head None of my thread replies ever have anything to do with games. I am the worst. Edit: oh my god Timmy Mallett does paintings now. -

Re: the brief conversation about Celebration: I went to Celebration, FL once to give a training (my then-boss' alma mater had a branch campus there). At the beginning of the lunch break, one of our attendees had a fender-bender in the parking lot. The impact of the accident caused a snake to poke its head out of her dashboard, where it had been hiding, and we spent the rest of our break watching as the police/fire department tried to coax it out without getting bitten. CELEBRATION! -
Later, you track down Jake and Sean at Terminal 3, having followed them all the way from their hotel; stalking them on the street, choosing the next carriage over in the Heathrow Xpress, purposefully slowing down so as to not overtake them as they mill about, confused by the subterranean tangle of platforms at Heathrow. You accost them at the Virgin Atlantic check-in desk, and begin your prepared remarks, demanding to know why you were snubbed. When you begin, your speech is filled with bitterness and recrimination. But as the minutes tick by and you continue, there is a tone switch. No longer are you angry and hurt; now you are seeking to impress them, to show that you could hold your own onstage beside Samuel L Jackson, to earn a place on the roster of award show plus-ones. You are amazing. Full of baboos and wizards, your emotion so raw that even a vitality sensor could pick it up. You mime the horsebag with aplomb, and Sean sees a realistically-rendered Ballmer before his very eyes. As your soliloquy reaches its crescendo, you drop to your knees, sobbing.

What about spider related self-immolation? I hear that's on the rise.

I don't think I ever even had a good idea what UGO was.

I suddenly stopped being able to see the "Whole Organization" calendar on my company's GCal and had 2 minutes of terror that they'd shitcanned me. Then I reloaded the page a second time and it showed up. Still have some residual panic.

Sweet life progress, dudes! I'm writing in C. I've never been good with memory management. I'm sure you can join the dots together. It's like boot-camp but instead of a Sgt. Major yelling it's CentOS squeaking about segfaults, also it probably won't improve my physical fitness much.

I'm not so fond of you!

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

I wasted a day trying to get a bunch of C to compile! I hate computers! -
I cannot find The Room on Steam. This is a bummer because the QuickLook made me want it and I thought I had my chance to enjoy it without an iPad (or new iPhone).

I can make myself faint by holding my arms over my head for too long (because of the extra bones in my neck that I think I've mentioned before), but the worst close-to-passing-out thing was when I was getting acupuncture: the acupuncturist was trying to put needles in the top of my feet, and I just could not even bear to think about it and started hyperventilating and involuntarily going fetal. In retrospect it would have been pretty funny to watch.

Larp Trek: The crew of the Enterprise take on their greatest challenge yet -- an out-of-service holodeck -- by exploring an ancient Earth custom Geordi calls a "role-playing game". Or the v pleasant Prequel, run in a similar fashion to Homestuck but there are Elder Scrolls and it is funnier.

Well done completely mis-timing your trip so as to miss me at both ends, jerks.

Idle Thumbs 92: The Mind-Tech Contingency

Oh, er, I doubt we could muster 11 people, so it would probably only be a partially-thumbed group. -

Try their EventBrite page; click on the "Mysterious Room" event and then look in the drop-down list for dates (mostly Feb and March). Hubby and I may be trying to go to one for our anniversary in mid-February; we could make it a Thumbs-Up if enough people are interested.
