He voices like every video game protagonist. He's pretty much the only voice actor as prolific if not more prolific than Nolan North. He also seems like a nice guy in interviews and podcasts I've listened to, but this definitely is a fairly indefensible, unfortunate thing he's said.
  2. Life

Long distance activities that me and my then girlfriend did - 1. Watching Netflix together (sync start times with a 3-2-1 thing) and usually voicechat at the same time 2. Playing games together online, we played a lot of Guild Wars in particular 3. Reading books to each other, audiobook-style 4. Doing as SBM suggests, just keeping the Skype video call open while doing other things. Doesn't require constant engagement if it's something more passive.
  3. Life

I was also long distance with my wife for a couple years when we were still dating, so I'd be happy to lend any advice that I can. Though I imagine going from short-distance -> long-distance is a bit more difficult than vice versa, unfortunately.

Re: Danganronpa, they are moderately bloody in very short segments but the art style really does not convey any convincing or oppressive level of gore.

Oh yeah, got to hear a grown man scream last night when aprettycooldude got his first Gjallarhorn from the Nightfall.

You can buy less-ass weapons from the gunsmith/Vanguard vendor that will fill the void until level 20, some of them really aren't that bad particularly in PvP (Gozen-C represent!) I have a hardcore PvP buddy who often runs a character with level 20 gear and green/blue weapons just for shits and giggles and he made a 5000 score a couple days ago in a Control match. Also, I wouldn't be particularly opposed to running highly overleveled PvE quests with people trying to powerlevel. Like, we could run a level 30 version of a level 12 story mission so you get XP +9000 bonus or whatever. I'm still grinding out Grimoire score on my Hunter so mindless story quests aren't totally useless to me either.

I need to run Xyor on one of my characters, hit me up if you see me free and I'll totally run it. I could probably get a third to help us if need be.

Very slick, I should give that a go soon once my Bladedancer is fully upgraded. That invis was super handy the whole time.

If we get enough people for PvP (it seems possible?) we could try running sweaties, which is just a dumb term Destiny players use for a finnicky way to arrange private matches. You just make two fireteams of three and try to matchmake into Rumble or Skirmish. If the fireteam leaders are geographically close and both teams try to matchmake at the same time, there's a relatively high chance of matching together. You watch the roster screen for the second the other team pops up and if it's not right you back out. It usually only takes <10 tries and once you're in together you can keep playing until someone backs out.

It's actually possible for Hawkmoon to double proc on one shot which is enough to OHKO some people with lower armor.

I'm pretty open to playing Trials with pretty much any of you guys. I used to really advocate that people regularly try to practice with the same group, but after having played as much Trials as I have I think it's less important that the exact same people play together. What's more important is playing regular Crucible enough with each other that we speak the same vocabulary when it comes to the maps and tactics. This is probably the biggest benefit I feel when I play Trials with people from my clan; since we all pretty regularly play Crucible with each other, when we're playing Cauldron and someone says "I'm going to flank through lower heavy" or "someone keep the door open so I can get the res-snipe" we all know exactly what's going on. When we spawn near C in Cauldron, I can expect that when we enter the B room everyone will take a different approach - one person will be by the far left stairs adjacent to the door to A, one person will likely be sniping from the B-heavy door, and the other person will be on the stairs adjacent to the door to C. These are tactics that are too natural to communicate via voice but are sorely felt when I'm trying to snipe through the door and my view is continually being obstructed. My point is this - if we want to make an effort to play Trials as a group, we should try to spend more time doing regular Crucible together. For people with time restraints with respect to the game, this might be a problem and you might have to prioritize PvP over PvE in order to reach that level of comfort that begets good runs.

Random tip that I saw while browsing Destiny subreddits - if you want easy level 32 gear (36 light level), run Trials of Osiris with other underleveled people. You'll almost certainly lose, but the random drops are all 36 light.

I really want a Hopscotch Pilgrim as well since I've started to really warm up to The Messenger (the Trials PR that only comes out of the flawless chest or silver/gold packages). From everything I've heard Hopscotch has better stability and can be rerolled which makes it an overall better choice. Messenger can kill in two bursts as long as all of the hits are precision. I've actually really given some Thorn/TLW users some problems using it at mid-to-long range as you really have to be a pro to use those 1) at range 2) with repeated headshots. MIDA is actually not a horrible choice for this week's Trials map, Cauldron. If you have the A spawn, I imagine you could do some work with it just hanging out near the spawn and taking out people who get careless around the B-heavy area. Also, the mobility could really move you across that map in seconds considering it's so small. If you're very comfortable with Mida, I'd recommend generally running the flank game. If you have the ability to blink, you could outflank almost anyone by the Mida speed boost + blink, you'd have Mida for long-range potshots and safe hard scoping, and you'd have blink shotgun to close distance quickly if someone tries to crush your flank.

Use the "Browse Groups" function at the top of the page. You can narrow the search to your liking and then go to a group's page to join them. I think you can join 3 public groups at maximum and unlimited private groups.

Story is threadbare. For me, the most ready comparison is something like Dark Souls where you're reading the equivalent of item descriptions and taking tiny lines of dialogue to chart an idea of what the greater story is. And considering the actual amount of narrative content is substantially less than DS, a lot of the lore-analysis is highly dependent on speculation and such. In short, this is not the game for that.

You should really check out the100.io site that many of us have been using. It's like LFG or an MMO's guild/clan system but 10x easier. You can joins groups local to your timezone, similar to your playstyle/age/gender/whatever, etc. It makes the non-matchmaking modes a lot more doable and better yet lets you add more people to your friends list that you may be able to recruit for games later on.

This is my schedule - Tuesday/Wednesday - Nightfall, Weekly Heroic Strike, Crucible Thursday/Friday - Raids, Prison of Elders, Crucible Saturday/Sunday - Trials of Osiris Monday - Catch-up before reset To me, PvP is a huge focus because 1) I have more fun with it on a moment-to-moment basis than PvE and 2) Trials of Osiris rewards are the best time/effort/reward ratio for me personally. I have the potential to win 9 Etheric Light, 3 Elemental Primary Weapons, and 6+ Exotics every week just from Trials. Then again, my performance is such that this amounts to something like 6-ish hours per weekend while I'm sure others could spend far more time without getting all the rewards. That being said, I still have a really good time with the raids and POE. POE is fairly casual for me at this point, I often end up completing the 32/34 within an hour each and the rewards are not insignificant. The raids still reward some of the best gear in the game - heavy boots, excellent heavy weapons, good elemental primaries, etc. Raid rewards even help in PvP - heavy ammo boots, Praedyth's Revenge, Found Verdict, Swordbreaker and Black Hammer are fairly common in Crucible/Trials teams (I've even been wrecked by guys using Fatebringer, VOC, and Praedyth's Timepiece believe it or not). My overall assessment of the current endgame is that there are now enough activities that even a casual player should have more than enough options for things to do on a daily basis.
  18. I don't know how big an upgrade the GTX 560 -> 750 Ti will be. Sure, you're making a multi-generational jump but you're kinda staying in the same exact tier of performance. If I was in your position, I would either hold out on the CPU and get a 960 or better or hold out on the GPU and get an i5 or better. Also, make sure your RAM is compatible.

I think there's a strong possibility that the chronological distance from TB's primary involvement in GG might just mean that this is a totally tonedeaf move by GOG.
  20. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

Don't really know where to post this but I'm so excited about the news that Maddy Myers is going to start working at The Mary Sue doing non-game-specific coverage and Jenn Frank is coming back to regular games coverage by taking Maddy's old job at Paste Games. Finally, journo hiring news that doesn't piss me off! Hooray!

Yeah, I agree with CLW's assessment. When reporting of this nature reveals the hypocrisy of politicians who are acting privately in direct opposition to their public views, it does presumably have some sort of value in the public's judgment of that politician's morality. Instead, this story is essentially not much better than a group of Redditor's doxxing someone they don't like. It's also particularly problematic because it assumes a lot - who knows what kind of relationship this guy has with his wife? Portraying this as cheating firmly seats this as a moral judgment of his character, but there is a distinct chance that this is delving into someone's private life with absolutely no context.

Ah, that sounds lame. I mean, it'll still be good due to the auto-reload and high impact but it won't be something in the Gjally/IB echelon of must-haves anymore. I know some people who have run CEHM 40+ and haven't gotten a Crux, not looking forward to trying to farm that. I have been running VOG 3x and Crota 3x the past couple weeks trying to finish my collection of raid stuff but it's slow going. I still need Black Hammer, Swordbreaker, Hunger of Crota, Vision of Confluence, Praedyth's Timepiece, and Hezen Vengeance. It's kind of a drag trying to farm this stuff as I've just been getting my third and fourth Vex, PR, Fang, etc.

They said that the patch is coming in the 2.0.0 update, which is (as far as I know/remember) coming out just prior to The Taken King. Highlights - PvE balance changes as Vasari mentioned, nerfing Gjally, Black Hammer, Ice Breaker.Gjally seems like it'll be a minor change, it'll still be clearly the best RL but by a less significant margin and you'll see a lot less totally burning down of bosses with it. Ice Breaker is the second most significant, as it'll basically restore ammo at almost the exact same rate as you'd get with special weapon synths. I imagine what this will mean in practicality is that you'll want to roll a good Templar/Bridge-specific long-range scout rifle to switch back and forth with IB. Black Hammer is apparently getting annihilated. Considering I don't have one, I haven't looked at what changes they've made in detail. Hand Cannons in general are being nerfed to actually work as intended, in close-to-mid-range battles. Lots of damage dropoff at range plus the shots will be harder to land. Smaller magazines. Scout Rifles will be slightly better to firmly fit in the long-range use case Assault Rifles will be significantly buffed, working in a larger variety of range areas. Buffs seem to be focused more on high ROF ARs. Pulse Rifles are being changed oddly, apparently they'll take armor into account specifically. Additionally, two round burst kills will require all bullets to be precision. Mid-impact PRs like Allfate will be affected negatively, high ROF/low impact PRs like the Conduit will be positively affected. Exotics HCs will be nerfed fairly significantly, including Thorn's range being destroyed and damage stacking being reduced as well as The Last Word's ADS accuracy being reduced. TLW will actually be the hipfire, sniper-complementary/shotgun-counter weapon it's supposed to be. Hawkmoon seems largely unaffected, except by the general HC nerfs. Hard Light is going to be way better as the ricochets will not be prone to damage falloff and ARs will be buffed in general. Shotguns will be worse at range (shot package and rangefinder nerfed, specifically) and Fusion Rifles will be better in close-range. Final Round is nerfed on Sniper Rifles, requires precision kills. HOORAY My takeaways - Finish leveling Hard Light, work on rolling a good high ROF AR like First Rule DHYB or Low Down P-XIV. Going to aim for high stability and high-caliber rounds. Will not ascend my 55A-Allfate due to upcoming nerf, will work on rolling a good Conduit with similar build to aforementioned high ROF AR. Will work on a mid-impact HC with a good magazine, avoid mini-hawkmoon builds as magazine nerfs will make them non-viable. Probably will run Fulcrum or Red Hand with range/stability. Work on rolling a good Fusion Rifle or two, seems like current wisdom for rolling a Give/Take, Splitshifter or Perun's Fire will be good. Deprioritize charge rate as it seems they're intending for it to still need leading targets and good positioning. I WANT A NO LAND BEYOND

I think we're in fervent agreement. I'm not saying that kdr is a direct comparative factor between the two control methods. I'm saying it's a subjective measure of my performance in both games and I'm observing that my performance is adequate if not pretty good regardless of whatever control method I have to adapt to. I totally sympathize with not liking the feel and I'm convinced that it's sufficient reason to not want to play a game on a particular platform. It's the same reason that I wouldn't dream of playing a game like Killzone competitively - it feels like garbage to me. The only thing I take some kind of issue with you suggesting (maybe I'm misinterpreting you) that K+M would definitively defeat controller regardless of skill level. There are tactics that govern performance more than any kind of accuracy. A player with good situational awareness, positioning, map knowledge, familiarity with particular weapons and how they fire, etc playing with a controller would have distinct advantage over someone without those things that just happens to have a more accuracy control method.

This is a pretty strange discussion, I don't really know how to parse it. Autoaim barely exists in PvP, several mechanics work differently between PvP and PvE. Aim assist certainly exists in PvP, but again is completely up to player considering every weapon has different aim assist levels and can be equipped with perks that increase or decrease that value. Many sniper players (including myself) favor high aim assist rifles, because AA increases the hitbox for the enemy head. However, it does add some level of auto-aim as well; a good opponent can tactically drag your reticle by running across it quickly, for instance. As a result, there is a distinct class of PvP sniper that uses extremely low aim assist weapons with perks that actually detract from that value. It's a real give-take situation that needs to be experimented with by each player. My point here is that while the whole auto-aim/aim assist mechanic is somewhat unique to and possibly detracts from console shooters, Destiny's community has actually integrated the observance of these values into the meta-game. While I think it's fair to say that you prefer the precision of PC/M+k, the fact that Destiny allows what could be a distinct hindrance to become a matter of tactics seems brilliant to me. As an aside, while I intellectually accept that M+K is more accurate than controller I haven't actually observed that to be true in my own gameplay. I played Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on PC and I maintained a fairly even kill-death ratio of 1.5. Since then, I have played Call of Duty: BLOPS2 and AW as well as Destiny on console and I have maintained the same kdr. Not that kdr is a perfect indicator of accuracy, I just think that I'm equally effective between the two setups regardless of whatever accuracy/auto-aim stuff might be going on. I don't think it's impossible to compensate for, mentally.
