I dunno, the voice acting seems more out of place and awkwardly worded than poorly acted. I was watching Giant Bomb's Quick Look and he literally had to say a line that sounded something like: "The Hive must have come from The Moon. The Wizard is up ahead. We must hurry before The Darkness catches us." or something to that effect. I think even Daniel Day-Lewis would have trouble making that sound good.

I'm an hour or so in an have a few observations: I'm not particularly unimpressed by the story at this point. The one story mission that I completed made Aiden out to be a sympathetic big brother archetype and thus far I like him. The driving has a GTA-level of floatiness. Maybe it's just the super scrubby cars I have right now, but after playing Saints Row the level of responsiveness and the really lame e-braking is kinda disappointing. Hoping driving upgrades and better cars improves this. There is a distracting level of content available. Maybe this is just a weird parallel of the modern world it seeks to emulate, but there seems to be literally always like 10 dudes to hack, 5 cameras in sight, a "Fixer" mission popup every 60 seconds, and a random crime every 90 seconds. I was trying to figure out a CToS tower and I ended up foiling 3 crimes and picking up 2 dead drops before I actually managed it because I couldn't control myself.

Capcom is juicing their VC selection this year (Source): Zero with a proper controller should be fun, and I haven't played X3 much despite playing X like crazy and X2 a bit.

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

I have continuous scanning running, but I'll try a deep scan for the hell of it. I just enabled this option, which I think is what you were talking about: Disable hardware-accelerated video decode. Windows, Chrome OS Disables hardware-accelerated video decode where available. #disable-accelerated-video-decode It's weird to enable a function that disables decoding, but that's seemed to be the only applicable option re: h/w acceleration. -

My graphics issue mentioned earlier is growing more mysterious by the day. I swapped the video card with the one in my living room, reinstalled Catalyst drivers, and thought everything was fine. Then the weird flickering issues cropped back up again in exactly the same form. Since the problem has persisted, I've noticed that it only occurs when I'm watching some kind of web video. In fact, I've actually managed to completely close Chrome while a web video is running and the screen is flickering, and closing it reduces the flickering almost completely. Some kind of motherboard issue? Chrome being fucked up? I'm considering switching to another browser to see if it's literally just Chrome or a web video thing in general. Such a strange issue. -
I got all of that stuff except the special VTOL with the ending I did. I dunno, I already 100% completed all the hoods at the story's end and played all the DLC stuff so I'm not sure there's much reason to get more equipment if I don't have much to do with it.

I took the one that I presumed was canon: I somehow didn't have it in me to do the other one, really wanted to close the book on it as I'm burning through my backlog. Is it worth going back and doing the other one?

I beat Saints Row: The Third. So, so good. I have no idea why I didn't play it sooner, because it is so totally my jam as far as open-world games go. It reaches unparalleled levels of absurdity and I loved every minute of it. I played it about 25 hours, so I don't think I'll pick up SRIV any time soon for fear of getting a little overloaded on this kind of game. I do know I will pick it up at some point and will almost certainly enjoy it.

I have a PS4 alpha code for anyone who wants it, send me PM. I'll update this once it is taken.

I had no trouble plugging a bus-powered USB drive into a Wii, so I imagine there should be no problem doing the same with a Wii U.

I think it will. It's not like there are no longer blatantly racist comments online now, but at least they're stigmatized in a broad sense. I honestly feel it'll be the same way with comments like those, in a "wrong side of history" way.

The Legend of Zelda: Adventure of A Link's Awakening to the Mask of Time Past
JonCole replied to ihavefivehat's topic in Video Gaming
Literally the only thing that keeps me playing Dynasty Warriors at all is a rock-solid sense of nostalgia for the first couple games and weird attachments to the individual characters that come back again and again. I've heard some better things about Sengoku Basara which is quite popular in Japan, as it has slightly more invested in the gameplay part of the whole equation than DW. So without the nostalgia factor, I think Hyrule Warriors would have to do something at least a little different combat-wise to get me interested. -
The Last Metroid is NOT in Captivity; The Galaxy is NOT at Peace

I would kill a man for a new 2D Metroid. -
As much as I can tell everyone loves heaping shit on this book, I don't see how anyone could be interested in reading that chapter-by-chapter reading of it. I get not liking a book for good reasons (which most of you guys seem to have), but reading someone's exercise of hatred through meticulous rantings seems a little tasteless. I've been reading Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive series, halfway into the second book. There seems to be no hidden manifesto in this one, but I might be mistaken as I apparently have been before. I enjoyed Way of Kings, though it was a bit long. I never read Wheel of Time, but boy do some of these fantasy writers love their overly long tomes. Sanderson does do some nice worldbuilding and the book never seemed laborious, just very deep in ambition.

I really should do some temp monitoring. Maybe I'll try it out this weekend and see if it correlates with my weird issues. If it's not that, I'm fairly sure it's not the drivers as the issues have persisted through three AMD driver updates. -

So, pretty sure my video card is messed up. Anyone seen anything like this before? One screen flickering like crazy, it is actually semi-readable on the restarting screen but totally unreadable on the desktop. If I disconnect the flickering monitor, the second screen adopts the flickering. A restart fixes it. Generally begins while I'm watching some web video. I took a video of it at this link: https://plus.google.com/u/0/+JonCole/posts/farsFm173cM -
You did help, actually! I was actually about to buy the PC version (which now seems to be back in stock? check your delivery date, may have updated) when I noticed the PS3 Retail version was also $20 on Amazon. I have a $5 credit there, so $15 is the price for the platform I was really hoping for. Thanks

Ugh, for some reason I am having a lot of trouble not buying Diablo 3 on PS3 in that E3 sale. The price is not amazing but is almost on par with the lowest price the game has ever been ($20 on both PC and PS3). I've avoided it on PC because of the market stuff which is now resolved and the console port has been fairly well lauded, which is nice because I think I'm more likely to play it co-op with my wife if I just have to buy a single copy. That said, the latest update on PC is going to be ported to console later this year but I think may only be coming to now-gen stuff. I probably won't own a PS4 this year, though I'm not certain. Anyone have input that will help sway me either way?

Yeah, same here. My backlog is ever at the front of my mind and even when I see good deals on games I want to play like Forza Horizon which I posted earlier, I think "man, I haven't even beaten Driver: SF or Need For Speed: Most Wanted". I saw Resident Evil Revelations on sale, and I remembered that I have RE5 on 360 that I never beat. Why pick up Saint's Row 4 when I'm only 40% through Saint's Row 3? It's hard to get hyped for sales anymore. I'll probably budget like $20 for the Steam sale, because there might be a handful of sub-$5 impulse buys in my future but that's likely to be the extent of it.

I think I read somewhere that there have been over 100 mass shootings in the US this year, defined by any more than 4 people shot in one event. I don't know if this is greater than in previous years if extrapolated, but it's still a staggering number to think about when compared to other countries with more strict gun regulations.

Are we putting all E3-related posts here? I keep forgetting this thread exists and am posting in individual topic threads.
