I remember I skipped some college classes to play GTAIV with the guys back in the day and it was Can't skip work, unfortunately.

I also have to imagine that segments like that are prerecorded. The thing about Giant Bomb that kinda bothers me is that they really don't seem to have any desire to earnestly have an opinion on these matters as a publication. When Stephen Totilo writes an editorial about GG or sexism, it's obvious that he's speaking for Kotaku. Giant Bomb usually just lets Patrick cover it, making it seem like his SJW niche that doesn't necessarily represent the site. I like Patrick, but he doesn't speak for GB like Jeff does. Now, I get that GB is now part of a corporate monolith that is CBS, but they came up as a community-based site where the editors have very open and discussed opinions. I feel like they have a responsibility to have a stance as a site that is responsible, not ghettoize their progressive opinions to Patrick's morning webshow.

I kinda feel like regardless of knowing what the trick is exactly, actually executing is way harder than it looks and the simple knowledge doesn't spoil that challenge/discovery aspect.

This is the worst. In my wife's company, I've increasingly been encouraging my wife to just let tasks go undone. She's in a position where they couldn't afford to lose her though, so meeting their expectations isn't as important than if she were less valuable and closer to a chopping block.

I'm up for more raiding, but since Raid progress resets on Tuesdays we shouldn't start it today.

My personal stance has been to not engage with GGers, but engage with friends and allies. Don't respond to GGers because their minds can't be changed and all they're getting out of your interaction is satisfaction. Respond to friends and allies if you deem it appropriate, as your words can at least give them strength.

The weird "devices" part that's prepopulated with stuff I don't actually have? It looks sorta shitty, but it doesn't really bother me.

I meant that the article covered the transphobic person and was getting at the thing you mentioned, that they refused to take the article down or even edit it in such a way that it would be less easy to track back to her. I remember they took out a direct link to her Twitter, but otherwise left the article as they originally published it. I can theoretically agree with Totilo's stance that it's news and should be covered, but they could have done a much better job of obfuscating her personal details to make her less of a target.

I don't really understand what you're trying to get at here. Is Vivian_games run by Elizabeth? I do think the way Kotaku handled that transphobic article was not good and makes me still remain relatively skeptical about how seemingly good Kotaku is being about reporting on GG stuff.

As someone who knows very little about hosting but loves Amazon, maybe Amazon? A fairly ridiculous amount of the internet is hosted on Amazon's AWS and EC2 servers and I know they have a free tier that is pretty good, but I don't know if that's just limited to the US.

I used Squarespace for a while and I was quite satisfied with their service, but I can't help but feel that the WordPress suggestion is better because of greater flexibility and probably lower cost in the long run. That said, Squarespace is measurably easier to setup and make look good than anything I've tried since. I used it for a blog.

Pretty sure Griddle is in the UK, which is why I never play with him during the week. I was imagining that we would be playing mid-day on Saturday to compensate for time zone differences + accommodate the seemingly long playtime of the raid. I don't really want to be playing Destiny at 1am in the morning.

Kotaku's Nathan Grayson wrote a quite in-depth post about it and actually is moving up in terms of pubs I respect, especially with this post regarding the future of the site. Also, The Verge published the anti-GG stance that I really hoped that Polygon would have had the courage to take. That said, I really think that editorial and reviews are the primary focus of Polygon and so I'm not all that surprised that this hasn't been covered yet there.

I could use this list as well, I just signed up for Gamefly in an attempt to stave off me buying a bunch of holiday games and my 3DS history is not very good right now. That said, I highly recommend Super Mario 3D Land and Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Count me in for a Raid. Hopefully by this weekend I should have maxed out Defender, which could be handy.
