I tried it. Seems to work. It's just a shared calendar, right? Oh wait, it doesn't show (local) time zones. I just put my times as I would for EDT, but I have no idea if that's right.

I am up for it as long as we plan things out well enough. My likeliness to do something is maximized when there are no surprises.

I get really bad reception with that keyboard as well. I even moved the receiver to one of the front ports to ensure line of sight and it still isn't as reliable as I'd like. -

God, day 3 of this running thing. I had to skip a day because of scheduling and it seems like that was poorly timed because I just couldn't pull off today's run. It was supposed to be 2 min run, 1 min walk for 30 minutes and I had to stop in my fourth cycle. Really disappointing, but it's making me think that I should probably just repeat each week of my training plan until I can do that week without much trouble. That way, I don't move on before I'm at least moderately comfortable with what came before.

Yeah, realistically I can't commit to a 12 midnight starting time myself. I don't really know if we have enough people to do this, but organizing two groups may be a good idea.

You're saying that 5am won't work for you? It's looking increasingly like 9pm PDT/12am EDT/5am GMT on Saturday, at least with the current majority.

I guess I'm playing this game again, as I stayed up until 3am last night playing with Zeus and I'm booting it back up again. My PSN ID is jonac13, I'll be adding some people shortly. Also, we already do have an Idle Thumbs clan, though I don't know what it'd do to make partying up easier.

You definitely got some of the greatest hits. There are a ton of multiplatform games that play well on the platform - Spelunky, Hotline Miami, Muramasa Rebirth, Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed, Dragon's Crown, Fez, Steamworld Dig, The Swapper. Killzone Mercenary is good if you want to try out a shooter on the platform, though it's not revolutionary. Gravity Rush is another good one, kind of an action platformer thing. Sound Shapes is a great music platformer with a ton of style. Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a good showpiece game and nice if you like Uncharted, though the controls get tiring and those types of games aren't horribly well suited to the platform.

I was saying that instead of buying a new (but old) Sandy Bridge mobo, you could have bought a Haswell mobo and a cheap Haswell processor with intent to upgrade to a better Haswell chip in the future. That way you could avoid having to rebuild the PC twice. But if you don't feel you really need to upgrade your processor any time soon (which honestly, shouldn't feel that old or deficient) then I suppose your method is alright. For some reason I thought that Second Gen i7 was older than 4 years old, but Sandy Bridge is still solid (which I know because my wife's PC has an Ivy Bridge i5, which is still just as solid as ever). -
Yeah, they never announce it ahead of time (in fact, just a week ago they said that tickets "will be on sale later in May" which I don't think anyone would have guessed would be literally one week later in the first week of the month) and it was right in the middle of lunch hour for West coasters. Lame.

Welp, PAX Prime is nearly sold out. I find this whole part of the process so depressing, because there's such a demand for events like PAX but every time it sells out and hordes of people are disappointed. Glad that I don't even entertain the notion of attending Prime or East.

He should buy a $1000 laptop with a 5 year warranty, such things exist. AsRock is fine by me, my HTPC uses one of their mobos and I haven't had any issues. That said, do you really want to be buying a new mobo for an old processor you're planning on retiring in the near future? It's totally up to you, but I chose to buy a nice new mobo and a cheap processor with intent to upgrade in the next year. I haven't been doing a ton of PC gaming with my interim overclocked Pentium G3258 but every time I have it's performed well enough for my purposes. And now I'm prepared for an easy upgrade to a Core i5 or Core i7 later this year, rather than a full system install twice (once if I had theoretically only upgraded my GPU, HDD->SSD, and twice for the mobo+proc). I guess you technically could do a system image for the first upgrade, but I'm generally more comfortable just doing the whole process. It does help that I do have the PS4 to float me on the AAA games, as I suppose you were alluding to with your mention of it + The Witcher 3. -
With my wife out of town, I decided to restart my physical fitness activities in hopes that I can get some sort of routine going unimpeded so I'll have some momentum when I'm more easily tempted to just stay at home and lazy. I'm using the Runtastic service and app on my phone to facilitate this stuff. It has training plans and tracking and junk, which cost like $20 a year (thought that sounded reasonable). As far as running goes, I started a training plan that's going to enable me to run 30 minutes continuously after 6 weeks of training. It was a pretty conservative goal compared to what was available, but I'm glad I didn't get overly ambitious because on my second run today I felt absolutely annihilated. That said, it feels good to finally get moving. I think running is going to really improve my self-image, as long as I can keep it going. Runtastic also has some other apps that are non running-centric, so I'm using two other apps in conjunction with the main one. One is focused on push-ups and the other on sit-ups, both aiming to eventually allow me to do 100 consecutive reps of each. Felt that a couple of strength body-weight exercises would add some good variety to the cardio of running, and I like not having to have crazy workout equipment or investment to get started. Anyways, I'm partially putting this here as a method of keeping myself honest so I hope I'll be checking in again in the future.

I'm watching Full Metal Alchemist for the first time because it feels like one of those anime that you just have to watch plus it's about to get knocked off Netflix. Unsurprisingly, I'm enjoying it. Only complaint I have is that every time I start to warm up to the open/close music, it changes. Move along.

It's particularly weird because they basically did the exact same thing with Ground Zeroes/Phantom Pain and yet PT is somehow less worthy of being considered as a real game that Ground Zeroes is. I'm not saying PT shouldn't be considered it's own game, just that Konami is being oddly inconsistent in the handling of these games.

I was really addicted to the Money-Making Game in Kingdom of Loathing for a while. It is basically just a coin flip gamble where you bet against another player. I had played the game for a long enough time that I had a ton of in-game currency and it fluctuated SO MUCH during that time. Maybe two weeks of basically just coin flips and me being wildly excited or depressed. So dumb.

I wonder if there would be less negativity around the delisting et al if PT wasn't released as PT and instead a "Silent Hills Demo". By posing it as its own game and having the weird viral marketing campaign behind it, Konami essentially inflated it into something Important while still purporting that it's essentially equivalent to a demo. Maybe it would be different if I cared about Silent Hills or if I wasn't a video game baby, but the removal of a demo without much ceremony doesn't seem particularly offensive or tragic to me.

I think I know what you're talking about and I tried to find it while I was building my last PC and couldn't find it. Had a very modern web name, two impactful words that are impossible to remember. In lieu of it, PC Gamer's build guides are pretty decent. Here's the budget (£575) build and the mid-range (£1150) build. I'll also once again recommend PCPartPicker for pricing, compatiblity, etc. -
Agreed. I'm really glad the show has taken this turn over the past couple seasons, far more interesting that way.

Good to hear. I ordered a Moto 360 yesterday, $180 is a pretty easy pill to swallow all things considered. If I didn't get the 360, I probably would have ordered a $150 Fitbit Charge HR at some point. I'm kinda worried about battery life too, but I just found out yesterday that the 360 uses the Qi charging standard unlike pretty much all other smartwatches. I luckily have a leftover Qi charging pad from an old phone, so I'll keep it at the office for when I feel like taking off my watch.
