You did just fine! That kind of stuff is something you can only learn by doing so it's no big deal. If anyone is on today and wants to run Trials of Osiris, hit me up. On that note, I played with an LFG group and just did horribly. I suspect that each of us was alright independently, but the other guys just had no team sense. On a heavy weapons round after the opposing team picked up one box, a teammate was just sticking to me like glue and predictably we both got killed with a single Gjallahorn shot. Ridiculous.

Haha, I love that kind of dumb crap. I don't know if Destiny especially has weird spawning behavior or if more games do and I just play Destiny way more, but there are so many situations where a whole team is taking point B and it just won't know where to spawn you if you die. In other news, this is what doing a Nightfall, a Weekly Lv 30, a Lv 32 PoE, and a HM Crota looks like - Good running with you Vulpes and Vasari. Now that I have a general idea of how Crota works, I'd be a lot more confident doing it with Thumbs now.

Okay, I think most of us were kinda mumbling about making this regular but not weekly so this follows. Maybe we should just aim for next week re: Crota. I'm still up for L32 PoE, ToO, NF on my Warlock or anything else if people are around. Or if not, I'm going to be running L28 PoE like crazy to farm for Strange Coins and Motes to buy Xur stuff.

This weekend I have absolutely no plans, so as long as I know about it ahead of time I can hop on to raid whenever. Around 2 PM Eastern/7 PM GMT just like last time would work for me, if anyone just wants a shot in the dark suggestion.

I like to take it like a hipster baby. $170 Bonavita drip coffee maker, burr grinder, and then I take 2 creams and 3 Splendas.

A lot of the privacy stuff on the internet really makes me uncomfortable. I think it's actually quite realistic to take an otherwise cynical viewpoint that nothing on the internet is private, considering that many people are playing by the "everything is completely public" ruleset. I'm often pretty put off by people screenshotting and posting deleted content, or copying someone else's work wholesale and saying something to the effect of "well it's on the internet so you don't really control it anymore and it's free for everyone". Anyways, I don't have much of a point in saying all that. Maybe I just hope that I/we could be a little above playing this game and allowing people to feel some degree of privacy even though they should have no reasonable expectation in having it.

I'd be down to do the L32 POE if we're on at the same time. And yeah, data miners are saying that you can buy one Etheric Light at Rank 3 and one at Rank 5 per character. And anyone didn't know, running Nightfall will not boost IB rep. Just looked up how it worked last time to be sure. Xur is selling some pretty good stuff this weekend. Patience and Time seems pretty well worth buying, Crest of Alpha Lupi is good for Titan PvE team content, Achlyophage Symbiote is basically the best Gunslinger exotic, and Nothing Manacles look to be a pretty solid PvP Voidwalker gauntlet. I think I'm going to try to farm some Motes with another NF run and lots of L28 PoE in my spare time, tons of Exotic Gauntlets I'm interested in (Ruin Wings, Don't Touch Me, Sunbreakers, and some of the new HoW stuff).

I forgot to mention that I attempted the level 34 POE last night for about two hours and couldn't pull it off. I was unfortunately the only one in my group without a Gjally and I think we weren't at an appropriate skill level to complete it without taking advantage of the inherent advantage of 3x Gjally. As soon as they swapped me out for someone else, they did it on their second attempt. I feel like it was completely possible to do without all that, the mechanics of that fight just require really superb timing and execution that we couldn't pull off. Also, you really, really need full experience 331/365 weapons of all damage types and ranges for that kind of content (like, 3 snipers, 3 shotguns, 3 rocket launchers). Anything less just won't cut it unless you're being sherpa'd by some savant players.

Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan
JonCole replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
The diversity train is leaving the station and I couldn't be more stoked. Austin is a fantastic voice and I'm really hoping that he'll help bring GB back to a place of relevance for me. If you don't know Austin, he's pretty active on Twitter. He maintains maintained a personal blog where he put his writing among other things. He's been on Apple Cider's podcast a couple times too!- 1367 replies

The demo only lets you advance to level 7. Otherwise, I think it's "the whole game" but just truncated due to that artificial level cap. I have a level 3 Hunter that I've barely started, I'll add you. I'll probably be on pretty regularly during the weekend on my other characters, but feel free to send me a message if you see me online and not busy and I'll be happy to run those early missions.

I think we're in vehement agreement. Because basically, you're arguing that being blocked has no impact because one's public account is still fully viewable which is entirely my point. I don't really get why being blocked would be an issue for someone who purely uses Twitter for viewing things instead of actual interactions. It's just inconvenient, because the easiest way to keep track of someone's tweets is to subscribe to them so they appear in your feed.

Dan Ryckert willingly closes his mind to all of the world that is not in his primary focus unless someone suggests that it might be of interest to him.- 1367 replies

You're missing "at your convenience". I'm just saying that being able to follow someone is a convenience, if you're blocked and the account is public you're still free to view it albeit not with ease. Blocking's primary effect is that it forbids you from interacting directly with that person, not making it so that your feed is completely inaccessible to them.

Kyoto - Fushimi Inari - really cool temple/shrine thing, it's the one with literally thousands of the iconic orange Japanese arches Nishiki Market - food, shopping Iwatayama Park - we just called this place Monkey Mountain, basically you walk up a mountain, hang out with monkeys, get to feed them, it's a nice day hike if the weather is good I did some other stuff while I was there last, but I honestly got the very most enjoyment out of walking around the city, poking around grocery and convenience stores, etc. If you find yourself in Kyoto Station and want to catch a bite to eat, they have a pretty good rotary sushi place which was half good for the experience (it's a great way to try new types of sushi) and half good because the fish was just really delicious. (also, if you're willing to go out a little farther to Osaka, Nipponbashi/Den Den Town is great for video game/otaku stuff)

Bread box?

Oh man, crepes. I was actually considering getting a crepe maker awhile ago, because I'm totally garbage at making them by hand and also they can be used to make lumpia wrappers from scratch. I absolutely loved getting savory crepes while I was in France, beat the heck out of any kind of wrap or gyro I've ever had in the US.

I use Destiny Item Manager for that purpose, they look pretty similar but I'll have to take a look at it later to see if one is better than the other. I really like it for moving items when you're in the middle of things. I've moved items from my vault to characters mid-Crucible match if I find that the other team is just abusing Mythoclasts and I need a quick-firing scout rifle to attempt a counter.

It's called Unfollowers (not a great name, but it works), but you just sign into it with your Twitter and it pulls all your contacts and their stats. At first I was a little hesitant to give them twitter API access but since I started using them they've never done anything outwardly dubious. Here are the filters you can put on your follower/following search - So for instance, I frequently filter the people that I follow to see who is tweeting the most per day. If I notice that someone I follow tweets a TON but I never engage with their tweets, I unfollow them to clean up my feed. I also scan through the followers with really low followers/following ratios, sometimes blocking if I suspect spam accounts.
-
Nobody is entitled to anyone else's Twitter feed at their convenience. If you really want to know what a person who blocked you is tweeting and their account is unprotected, you can view their tweets with relative ease. I use an app that filters my followers by various metrics, including tweets/day, following/followers ratio, account age, etc and I unfollow/mute/block based on internal criteria that I don't feel like telling anyone about. I use Twitter for a specific purpose and operate my account to meet those needs. I don't think this is particularly oppressive.

Those dumplings look great, I just got a steamer so I'm looking forward to trying to make stuff like that. In other news, sous vide thingie for $130! - http://slickdeals.net/f/7882261-anova-percision-sous-vide-cooker-129-w-free-shipping

I used to have my babysitter peel the skin off of the outside of grapes. I had delicate needs. I used to also almost exclusively eat fried chicken for dinner. My parents spoiled the crap out of me and I was the worst.

I've seen a lot of Europeans bemoaning the Humble Bundle, maybe this is a daft or overly obvious suggestion but maybe contact Nintendo of Europe asking for this? I don't think it'll change anything overnight, but Nintendo just generally strikes me as a company that seems to be surprised every time their users say they want something because they're so used to setting the agenda and expecting their customers to follow suit.

Well that was a pretty quick turnaround.

Thanks for the tip re: L32 adds, really helped Vulpes and I on our second shot at it. Now I have this armor core and I checked this morning to see what this week's armor is and it's another Strength-only thing, ughhhhhh. According to various wikis all of the PoE armor can have any stats, but I don't know if they're just making things up or what. In other news, I made a Warlock on Sunday and it's already level 25. Knowing what you're doing can make that early game SO MUCH faster than the first time. That Warlock glide is taking a while to get used to, doing a lot of unintentional suicides in PvP and it's really embarrassing. Edit: found a pretty good website for stat tracking, Destiny Tracker. As it turns out, I'm a "High Skill" Crucible player - http://destinytracker.com/destiny/overview/ps/jonac13

If anyone wants to run Prison of Elders L32 tomorrow, hit me up if you see me online. Vulpes and I tried it with just the two of us, made it to the final round but just couldn't manage. I imagine that we could pull it off with two 31s (in addition to me) at the least, or with relative ease with two level 32s.
